Here are the Top 100 GameCube games ... according to gaming website Retro-Sanctuary!

A few years back, this channel uploaded a "Top 100 According To MetaCritic" list and it was very controversial. Viewers did not like the artificial skewing of a statistically unlikely number of sports titles. Admittedly, I didn't like it either.
So, a few years later - I've gone back and tried to give the GameCube a better shot at it - this time courtesy of the good folks at Retro-Sanctuary. Do I agree with every time on this list? No. Do I think there are some omissions? Yes. But it's still a lot more representative than the Metacritic version.

Wow, Metal Arms GITS was at 39! Honestly such an amazing game, and the multiplayer was so much fun with so much variety to do. It really saddens me that it wasn't more popular, it definitely deserved a sequel.

Majority of games really hold up well. P.S. Gary (or person who capture gameplay) really like to play football against Portugal :)

Good vid. I got 8 of these and there's 11 I wanna get. The GameCube was the last console I got and it was mostly for Melee and later the Sonic games. Usually I use it for the Game Boy Player nowadays but did Rave Master recently and have been searching for Skies of Arcadia Legends.

I got the entire library digitally!! Awesome console lost mine in a house fire and had about 50 games for it :( had to go digital can’t afford to replace it

@@NinjaxWizardGoVroom same with going digitally for my collection. I even got a steam deck with large SD card installed that stores/plays all these older console games amazing up to ps3 even. Blows my mind i have 1000s of the best video games in history on a portable gaming device heading into 2024.

I'd put Custom Robo somewhere in this list, but other than that, the list is pretty decent. Might also re-arrange some items here and there.

he's also not listed some major other exclusive games, like Pikmin 1, Kirby Air Ride and Bomberman Generation.

Thanks, Gary, great vid as always. I'm familiar with the Retro-Sanctuary lists, but seeing them in this format that you carefully curate helps a lot. After watching this video today and doing some research, I bought that old From Software game Lost Kingdoms II, plus the (more affordable) 3D platformers I-Ninja & Vexx. Games #48, #49 and #50 for my Gamecube collection!

I can tell the list from retro sanctuary was probably written 15 years ago as the general consensus on sunshine has improved drastically. 26 is very low most lists now would put it in the top 5

That's a really good point; our reflections and memories tend to change over time. When Super Mario Sunshine was released, it was amongst a flood (ha!) of many other 3rd person platformers, so people were kinda meh on the whole thing. Years later, people recognize the subtleties that made it different/better than the other generic platformers.

Surprised to see Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on this list. I'd heard it was meant to be an inferior port, compared to the PS2 & Xbox versions.

Siroth Takanashi Did you play the sequel? It was arguably better. A choice of 5 characters instead of 3. PS2 & Xbox got that one. The GameCube didn’t.

I know SSX 3 was on PS2 and OG Xbox and it might have been a little prettier on Xbox but I prefer it on GC! I also would've lost my Shit if it wasn't on the List! 🙄 Metroid Prime is 🔥 and definitely one of the games people should play before they Die! 😉 I feel that some other game is missing but I can't put my finger on it! 🙄

@Gakki_Aniki WTF are you talking about?!? It had a Library of 653 games! That is over twice that of its predecessor the N64! Granted some of it was “Shovelware” but there’s like 50+ great games on the GC and another 100+ Good or above average games in its Library! 🙄🤨😉😎
