Kong using baby kong as a weapon was hilarious, homie getting got by a tree and Bernie freaking out afterwards, skar king’s pompous attitude during his introduction, and the ape screaming in Kong’s face only to get knocked the f out 😂

Probably my favorite moment in the film was the visual storytelling of it. Definitely wanna see more of it especially with Godzillas character in later films

The geography thing made it feel like Final Wars. That whole segment of Godzilla running around the world beating monsters on his way to Kong definitely felt like an homage to Final Wars.

1. Godzilla using the same finishing stomp move from GvK, but this time… you see the “no mercy this time.” 2. Goji jumping off the rock of Gibraltar. It was very reminiscent of ‘98 when Zilla jumped in the river, and also the one where Godzilla jumped off the exploding island. 3. Just the fact that this movie exists. Childhood dream come true.

My favorite parts were Kong using Suko as a weapon against the other apes. That was so funny! 😂 I also liked Godzilla sleeping in the Rome Coliseum like he’s a big cat napping. Would love to see more of that especially if they introduced Godzilla junior in the next film. Also yes seeing Godzilla, Mothra and Kong together was really great! The really became a trio and I would love to see them again in another team up movie. Also I liked that Jia acted as Mothra’s avatar of sorts in order to convince Godzilla to help Kong stop Skar King. I really liked how Godzilla was happy to see his long time ally. Not to mention after defeating Skar King both Godzilla and Kong smiled at one another truly implying that they respect one another and acknowledge each other. In fact Kong and Godzilla do have this Goku and Vegeta dynamic to them. Kong the lovable hero and Godzilla the fearsome anti-hero. I love it! Also bring back, Rodan!!!

Great video, DMan! My personal three moments are: 1) When Jia re-affirms to Ilene that SHE is her home and Ilene getting so teary eyed that she hugged her; my God(zilla), that made me cry happy tears when I saw that. 2) Kong giving that nod/smile at Godzilla at the end, with the Big G giving a similar look. This showed that, to me t least, though Godzilla prefers animalistic force most of the time he is STILL capable of a degree of intelligencel ike what we see in GvK, KotM and even G'2014. I just wish GxK tapped into a little more of that b/c Godzilla king of came off a more stupid than before, which did bug me somewhat. But, still a real cool moment. 3) Mothra and Godzilla locking eyes with each other five years after KotM; you can tell that Godzilla missed her a lot and Mothra's herself just stole the scene. Plus, we got Godzilla King Kong & Mothra ON SCREEN!!! How fricking cool is that?!! Bonus 4th favorite moment: When Kong offers Suko a piece of his meal and Suko eventually taking it, realizing Kong doesn't mean any harm...I don't know, that just gave me the warm fuzzies. And yet, it also tells us that Suko had to endure growing up in a toxic environment under Skar King's rule. It's both happy and sad when you realize the implications with that and I LOVED that it didn't have to be told.. Overall, I REALLY liked GxK: The New Empire. Is it perfect? Heck no, but did it do its job well? Absolutely. Though, I'd say to Wingard to tone it down for the next film, especially with him saying that he wants to do a Godzilla-centric sequel

Godzilla with his mannerisms, like sleeping like a grumpy tired cat in the roman colosseum. Also, can i just say wow, i love this video, but I really love your new hair style. I loved seeing Mothra and Kong finally on screen together for the first time ever.

The whole final battle sequence from the hollow earth gravity madness to the brawl in Rio was absolute peak for me. Never smiled so much while watching a movie in my life.

I think it’s sort of implied that Kong used an Alpha call to get Godzilla to come after him in Egypt (it was established in KotM that alpha titans have an alpha call that they can use to call other titans. Either to assert dominance, give a challenge, or give commands. For instance, Godzilla uses it in 2014 when he confronts the female muto in San Francisco and at the end of KotM.) even if that isn’t the case, in GvK and the comics they show that Godzilla can sense all of the Titans and if he senses Kong he’ll start going after him. This is also why he goes after Scylla. He sense her causing trouble and goes to put a stop to her. The reason Godzilla moves around so fast is that he uses hollow earth adjacent tunnels that move him around quickly (this is established in KotM). So it isn’t really a plot hole, they’ve explained it pretty well.

I really love the moments between kong and suko especially when kong and suko eat together you can tell that suko wants to trust kong but he doesn’t because he’s been abused and has trust issues

My favorite thing from this movie was any time Shimo and Godzilla fought, because it was pretty clear that she outclasses him by quite a bit. Ghidorah and Godzilla seemed pretty even in terms of strength but Shimo seemed much stronger physically, there's a moment toward the end where she straight up throws Godzilla a good distance. They're lucky she seems to normally be a peaceful titan because she's potentially the most dangerous one around.

In addition to your list, one of my favorite things about this movie was the jaw-dropping visuals. I don't mean the quality of the CGI, but I mean how the movie framed it. There are so many instantly iconic shots in this movie that I have been wanting to see in a Kaiju film, and more that I didn't know I needed. Shots like Kong walking beside the Pyramids of Giza, Godzilla treading through the river in Gibraltar, Godzilla swimming through a bridge or diving at the coast (not from the mountaintop, but from the coastline), or Kong sitting on a cliffside in the Hollow Earth, or Godzilla curled up in the Colosseum. It's quick little moments like this that I adore. It gives us a sense of scale when we see these huge beasts stacked up against sweeping backdrops and landscapes, but also these are the exact type of shots that we got all the time from Toho. It's wonderful to finally take them out away for the cities for a moment and scale them up to nature and smaller buildings and other iconic structures.

I think my favorite part of the movie that kind of made me tear up a little was when mothra was talking to Godzilla or I should say communicating with Godzilla in Egypt and Kong. Looks and see how beautiful she is and she he kind of gives off like that. Wow moment and then what made me cry was just the way Godzilla looked at mothra when she reappeared he was almost like healed from heartbroke ,dumbfounded for words. I feel like in that moment all he saw was mothra not Kong but mothra

I enjoyed Godzilla X Kong: the new empire from start to finish. I honestly think that it's the best Monsterverse film yet.

I really liked the scene with mothra coming back to the material realm. The focus on her a bit more so we can see movements better. same with the use of her silk webbing as a cloak for the hollow earth iwis. i still wonder if she actually laid an egg on the surface of earth for a longer regeneration period.

I've watched the scene of Shimo charging at Kong with Godzilla crashing through the building tackling Shimo probably 100 times now. It is probably my favorite moment in the whole movie.

I would use that term benevolent loosely cause, Kong crushed people with his hands, and unintentionally ate a guy in Skull Island, while Mothra spew webs at people when she first hatched in 2019, and would've killed the Russells if the ORCA wasn't there to calm her.

Top 3: 1. Characters! SkarKing, shimo, Gia, Kong and Godzilla!! Dynamics between them are so fascinating to watch. 2. Getting bigger! What was that bridge made out of carcass of a massive titan?? 3. Exotic monsters! I’m getting tired of giant oxen, snakes, chimps etc. Let’s see a turtle with a lion’s head and legs like a deer.

If the next movie is more Godzilla focused and he gets some kind of companion of the same species, I think instead of getting a son, like Kong did in GxK, he should get a brother in the form of Space Godzilla. Think like War of the Gargantuas where Godzilla is trying to bring Space Godzilla over to the good side but the two keep coming into conflict. But the actual villain of this film would be Bagan, who both Godzilla and Space Godzilla have to come together to fight off against this big threat. Then, with such a big roster of Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Shimo, Space Godzilla, the ape army, Rodan, and other titans, they could have Destroyah be the endgame villain whose so strong he requires all these titans to take him down.

Great list man! I loved the time we got with the kaiju which really gave them personality. (Although I wanted to see more of Shimo and Skar) The rematch with Kong was fantastic and fun and the hollow earth anti gravity battle was phenomenal and original. All around great modern showa era fun

Dude, this isn’t really a movie you put under a microscope. But then again, you are a super fan so I guess it’s cool.

And it should be clarified for devout followers of the MV: just because we critique or speak about things we disliked about the movie, does *not* mean we hate it. There are just some things that could have been done better. How I see Mothra and Jia's connection working is that they too had to team up like Godzilla and Kong had to. The Hollow Earth Iwi tribe could have even been like 'well, Mothra ordinarily connects with the Twins, *but* in this case she is teaming up with an unlikely person due to...' etc. *That* would have worked so much better in my mind.

I agree I liked Kong dragging Godzilla by the tail. I liked when soco saved Kong by helping the rocks fall on scars minions in the dead end cavern. And the middle earth fight. Good action and a lot of heart.Great movie.

An underrated part of the film was the moment Shimo has to make a decision on her alliance with Skar King as he gestures an attack towards Kong, who has Skar in his grip. Shimo looks over to Godzilla, who's radiating with energy, and is seemingly submissive to Godzilla as he belts out an alpha roar. That moment reaffirms Godzilla's status as supreme alpha when a titan just as or perhaps more powerful than him is willing to submit.

My favorite moment in the film was Mothra’s awakening. Mostly because of the theater experience.

My favourite scenes would be Godzilla and kong having a rematch kong knocking out godzilla but Godzilla suplexes him and just stomps on his chest again but I love the part where kong uses suko like a pair of nunchucks against the other apes and the fight between kong and skar king and all the apes slamming the ground

its not that godzilla dosnt think it is important to remember he is getting ready for a war against the kongs and here comes one to the surface when it is his job to keep them down in the hallow earth which i love because it let the characters be wrong in gvk saying it is because kong is an alpha titan but it is because he is a kong and he gave kong a pass for that moment because he was helping stop a threat but still had to go to the hollow earth

Only a small portion of the audience read the comics, no shot they start pulling stuff or writing stuff in the movies from the comics. Then we have to get the comics to understand the references and what not, and most will not get the comics just to watch a movie.

this was a good list. my favorite things in the movie were the portrayal of kong, the anti-gravity fight and mothra being in the movie, even though they didn't give her much to do, i still liked her presence in the movie.

My assumption as to why godzilla was so blindly attacking kong during the pyramid scene was kong used an alpha or challenging roar to call godzilla to him. (Him holding his hand in the air and all) And the alliance at the end of gvk was shaky so godzilla must be thing "I already let him off the hook and he wants to fight again?"

My personal top 3 things about GXK: 1. Kong: I really loved this continuation of Kong’s story that began in “Kong: Skull Island” and I’m glad it was somewhat tragic. It wasn't sunshine & rainbows “I found my lost family and we lived happily ever after”. I think this is my 2nd favorite Kong film and my favorite Kong-centric story we’ve seen for the character; I’m really glad the MV has expanded upon the character beyond just the classic Kong story (and been able to do so successfully) 2. Godzilla’s Utilization / Presence: While I may not be a fan of Godzilla’s actions / choices in this film, I thought they did an excellent job utilizing Godzilla when he was on-screen. While this was his shortest amount of screentime to date in an MV film, it didn’t feel that way because they made his scenes relevant and kept us updated on what he was doing. (I was always bothered that after the aircraft battle, we have no clue what Godzilla does until MechaGodzilla gets activated). We often shift between the HE events and the surface events as they begin to merge into one. If you aren’t going to give him more screen time, then at least make his presence known and this film nails that. 3. Connections to other MV films: The MV is one of the weirdest “cinematic universes” as the filmmakers hardly seem to care about that aspect of these movies. However, I was really happy with how GxK felt like a real sequel to GvK; but also to KotM! There were several returning monsters & a few human characters from the previous film and it really helped sell the idea that this was a continuation, unlike GvK… Overall, this film probably had my lowest expectations within the MV and I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I had (and still have to an extent) a *LOT* of issues with GvK, so I was very hesitant to see Wingard return. But he delivered a much better film than his previous one. I still think the MV needs a couple of solo outings and if we get another GxK, that another director should handle the Godzilla portions. (Final note: Get Junkie out of here! The music has been painfully mediocre, with the exception of a few tracks, and him being supportive of AI is such a bad move!)

Been watching your videos since 2017! Keep up the good work, D Man! SPOILER WARNING! They should have saved Skar King and Tiamat for future movies. (Leave them alive in this film.) Skar King is my favourite Monsterverse villain. Him and King Kong are a great match. It will be curious to see how Suko grows up in future instalments. I wish future movies would explore the origins of that 'Mega Godzilla skeleton' in GVK (the scene where Kong grabs his newly acquired axe) and that COLLOSSAL skeleton-like bridge. Perhaps they all were at war. (That serpent-like creature would make that mega Godzilla look like a toy. I am wondering if maybe like 2 dozen or so of mega Godzillas needed to fight him/her at once.) Just a theory. I haven't heard any mentions of them in the novels so far. (Don't know about the newer novelization.)

I loved how Kong was surprised when he found the cave of apes and walks in like a boss to see what the hell is going on. He never waivers right up until Shimo freezes his arm.

The pyramid fight would have been an instant classic if they copied the "put on the glasses" fight scene between Keith David and Roddy Piper in the movie They Live. The portal is the glasses, Godzilla is Keith and Kong is Roddy. Go watch that fight scene, then imagine Kong trying to put Godzilla in the portal instead of Roddy trying to put the glasses on Keith. It is an awesome 5 minute fight.

You & I have talked about the moment at 9:40 happen (Kong & Mothra in a scene together) many times on Twitter. When I saw this scene in the movie I instantly thought of you & hoped you were enjoying it as much as I was.

My absolute favorite thing in the movie was at the end, when Kong comes back as the Victor and frees all the apes from the scar Kings rule. And seeing his little scratch under the neck of Shimu….priceless. Looked like King Kong would have a happy ending…. at least for a little while.🥰

Here’s my top 5 favorite parts! but before, some honorable mentions. Godzilla blasting his beam into the air was the shot of the film. You get a pitch perfect shot of the beam, Godzilla, and the sky reverting back to normal, best wallpaper ever. Suko working off the trap to take down the rogue apes. Not much to say, besides that lil guy has been redeemed. Godzilla’s fight with Scylla. Going out of his way to kill another Titan, let’s us know that Godzilla {oh yeah NOW HE CAN FUC_______ JUMP.} isn’t playing around. As well as the fight with Tiamat, that shot of her dead and limp body floating to the surface, as Godzilla throws her head off with that rock grinding roar.. I love this film. Kong helping that ape up, and then standing his ground and BODYING that ape in the face was so “Kong.” Suko destroying that crystal was such a badass moment. And really made bro stand out! TRAPPER BRINGING IN THE VERTICINES WITH THE CAMOUFLAGED HEIVE WAS SO. DAM. INSANE. TRAPPER himself is the best “new” human in the MV. Jia touching Kongs finger. It was so beautiful to see that returning action, and Jia actually hurting when Kong signs her “ I lost home. “ E M O T I O N. ok now onto the actual scenes. #5: Shimo and Skar King arriving in Rio. The water freezing, the camera flipping over as Shimo breaks out, roaring and flipping over… god it was so good. And Skar King roaring at all the fleeing humans was really cool. #4: Godzilla’s breakout. The music, the roar, his new dorsals, Godzilla looks just so badass. His roaring up, arm stretched out wide was so triumphant! And that aerial shot showing his new spiky form in all of its glory was so cool. #3: The Egypt fight, this includes Godzilla jumping off that cliff. Each kaiju got their time to shine, Godzilla ramming Kong into the pyramids over and over was cool. Kong pinning him down, punching him over and over again, and then that finishing blow knockout, KONG DRAGGING GODIZLLA- holy wow. #2: At the very end, Kong rubbed Shimo’s head and scratched her chin. HE SCRATCHED HER F__-___-_ CHIN! THE PERSONALITY OF KONG IS SO INCREDIBLE. #1: No surprise, the Rio battle. It was so. Much. Fun. Godzilla making Skar run like a flipping baby, flipping, jumping over buildings, and then him grabbing his whip in his mouth and YEETING the ape, oh my god I loved it. Shimo grabbing Kong’s arm and throwing him into a building really showed how powerful and strong she was. She literally tanked a point blank atomic breath shot from an even stronger Godzilla than a Godzilla who drilled through half of the entire Earth- Kong drop kicking Skar, punching him down and slamming that iced up menace.. wow. Also side note, we all saw that right after Godzilla snapped Skar’s back, he charged up his beam to finally obliterate him. However, Shimo, noticing this, decided to steal the big G’s chance and freeze Skar. Honestly, the way Skar was taken out is my favorite kaiju death EVER. It’s so clever to have the biggest slave of the villain be the one to handicap it, before having the main kaiju finish it off brutally. This movie was a blast and it’s my new favorite MV film and the fact that the sequel is going to be this but instead with Godzilla as the main kaiju is getting me excited as hell.

I really did like the characters. I feel like people hate on them but I found Brenie and trapper to be great. If given a better story the actors could do so much better

Ok before I share my top favorites I have a question for yall out here in the comments so we all kinda originally thought there was something in the middle of hollow earth that gave it its lighting like a mini sun butttttttt now seeing more of the hollow earth it seems like hollow earth has obviously the layer of earth that is well planet Earth then inside of it is a floating sphere of land so how do you guys thing hollow earth is lit do you think it’s the crystals or the portals or something else 1.The fact that Mothra came back she’s my favorite kaiju and like Dman said the three most iconic giant monster movie stars finally made it together in one movie 2.The Iwi of Hollow Earth were a very cool edition although I wish the heritage of the Mothra twins was brought back from kotm but it was cool that they had telepathy if Kongs axe can be charged by hollow earth energy what do you think it would do to generations of humans living down there for billions of years 3.idk what to call it but the special atomic breath Godzilla had at the very end that was pink with sparks of blue it was cool to see Godzilla being a force of nature and sending away snow storms

Would love to see Godzilla getting his ass kicked and Kong comes along with his new gang and his ice dragon and kicks ass. Would like to see him set his ice dragon free and have to go get it back as a side plot.

I must say d man all my favourite aspects of kong in this movie obviously again was his empathy to free the other apes it's so sad to think he's been looking for more of his kind of this whole time and when he finally finds them some of them try to kill him and he still tries to save one of them I also really like how skarking personal reflects off of Kong

Did you dig the KISS song "I Was Made for Loving You" that was played when they were doing the installation of the beast more glove arm for Kong?.....I can't count how many things I loved because I loved pretty much all of the film. Especially loved all the King Kong parts the best!!! Kong was the very first actual movie I saw with my folks at a movie theater when in 1976 when I was 3 years old, my mom and dad agreed to grant my wish to go see King Kong 1976 with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange. I was in awe of that movie and it started my lifelong obsession with King Kong and monsters in general!!! Kong would go on to remain my favorite as I loved that movie and Kong so m much. Best gift of all is Monday I went with both my folks to see Godzilla x Kong!!! That brought happy tears to my eyes D-Man. I have been able to see in theaters with my folks 1976, King Kong Lives in 86, King Kong 2005, Kong Skull Island, GvsK,and the new one with everyone of them at theater with my mom and pops!!! That means so much to me. I will turn 51 on April 13th....but seeing the Kong film with them is already my b-day gift!! Keep up the fantastic work brother!!! I'm a long time subscriber!

Mine would have to be the ginormous titan skeleton that Kong walked upon. That needs to be a whole topic unto itself because Shimo is powerful but I think that there needs to be more emphasis on that particular titan. That thing looks like it could eat the other titans like a potato chips and and not even be full. Once again, we've got a new mystery. Just how old is Shimo, because I personally think that she is not the oldest Titan let alone the mother of all the titans.

Really enjoyed the movie overall. Would love the next movie be about Godzilla with maybe Mothra showing up as well. Going back to the older movies feel. I love Kong but he's been the main character the last two movies.

All the monster verse movies need at least another 15 seconds for scenes to breathe a bit longer but as far as wish potential this movie missed... Kong swinging G by the tail like a giant mace would have been great but I say that the anti gravity sequence was prime for Godzilla to fly with his atomic breath as well as attack with the infamous double footed drop kick! I mean really! What a ball to drop! Lol

Least favourite 1 Threat felt too small to feel like Kong and Godzilla’s team up was needed, if Godzilla beat Skar King once before he can do it again now he’s evolved and once Skar King’s gone, Shimo’s not a threat. 2 Hollow earth setting made the monsters feel small. 3 Humans except Trapper. 4 Lack of Mothra screen time. Oh my gosh, I hadn't thought of this till watching your observations on team-up moves but, seeing Godzilla use his breath to "fly" in the Hollow Earth could actually work! As always thank you so very much for the video. Top 3? Easy, Kong, Godzilla, Mothra!

Wingard really gets Kong. I really got behind Kong on this one. He was the strongest aspect of this movie. Goji performing his world police role was great to see and Neon Thunder Goji was fantastic. Mothra was beautiful and watching her working alongside Goji and Kong was epic. Skar King was forgettable as was Shimo, they were just so underdeveloped, and there wasn't enough threat associated with them to make you care. The fights were great, from Rome, Egypt, Hollow Earth to Rio, it was exciting and fun. Not sold on "chosen one" Jia and neither Bernie or budget Bradley Cooper grabbed my attention. Andrews was the strongest human character by far. Mixed bag, but overall enjoyable enough.

Music cool, just not over roars. I also wish Godzilla used like his arms and like tail as weapons a little bit more.

If legendary ever makes another solo, kong movie, and shimo comes back i would like Kong and her relationship to developed more because I feel Kong and Shimo would be like Godzilla and Mothra, but more compassion based from both sides, like Kong king of the hollow earth, and Shimo Queen of hollow earth

They never showed skar kings body after kong slammed him on the ground, and given the fact that people actually like skar king and how much potential he had in future films! If they was to bring back mechanikong to the Monsterverse they can resurrect skar king and bring him back as mechanikong! Like a giant ape android basically!

I don't think they thought this movie would do as well as it did that's why they killed scar King off and I loved when Godzilla was curled up like a cat sleeping in the autoryem 🎥😎

Sooo kongs trap in the beginning catching the wart dogs, was that kongs trap? Or was that a sink hole that helped the evil apes get free ? There is still a few parts I don’t get. Love this movie so much but it wasn’t as smooth to digest as gvk was. Anyone with info on this I would greatly appreciate it

I love how kong really reminds me of kratos with the axe and hollow earth give me god of war vibes with vast and different land of the 9 realms also scar kings beard minda looks like micah bells beard and there both assholes so there you go

I think the best thing in the movie is dialogue, it's not great great, but its certainly handled better than thr prevous movies. Most exciting thing for me was seeing Mosura, I jad to hide feom all the trailers, and it was totally worth it.

I want to see Anguirus and Godzilla fight then team up. Definitely Definitely Definitely Bagan needs to be the baddy of the next film. I've always wanted to see him in a film since the super Nintendo game super Godzilla. People talk about Destoroyah for the next film, but it's too early for him. I know there's a lot of rules we have to follow in order to use Tohos beloved Godzilla but, imo he needs to die to beat Destoroyah in the MV, and its way too early for that.

So like is Godzilla cool with kong now? Do you think they gonna fight in the next gxk movie or is the beef between them finally over with?

Overall it's the enjoyable monsterverse movie .... But not perfect , not a masterpiece .. but a good monster mayhem movie.... I still think Godzilla 2014 is the best Monsterverse movie and GvK has the best climax in the Monsterverse ....... Godzilla 2014 - 8.5/10. Kong skull island - 7.9/10. Godzilla King of the Monsters - 8/10.. Godzilla vs Kong - 8.5/10. Godzilla x Kong - 7.5/10. Monarch legacy of monsters - 7.7/10. Skull island anime - 6/10.

have to say heading in to the movie i didnt think id like shimo much but affter seeing the movie i have to say id really like to see more done with shimo i think its a new kiaju that could really become something , maybe even on its own at some point .
