I remember hearing about one of the pools but I didn't know there were two! During the 70s and 80s the "Doonesbury" cartoon regularly ran cartoons of press conferences taking place in the pool. And apparently during the Ford administration, one of them did!

The indoor pool was closed by Nixon. Gerald Ford had an outdoor pool installed. This video showed only photos of the indoor pool as if it was the currant pool.

Pretty sure pool reference was inverted in the video. The indoor pool is now the press room (since the early 70's by Nixon) and it was Kennedy known for naked pool parties. The outdoor pool is still present today and can be seen on on Google maps. Speaking of the press room... Visited the White House during the Clinton administration and was disappointed by the trash left in the seats by the press. Something that sticks with me as seriously disheartening that fellow Americans (even if they are journalists working on the job) would trash ANY room in the White House. Maybe it was because the rest of the White House is spotless. But not the press room.

It's because the gym is on the third floor in what would normally be a guest bedroom. Next door is another bedroom used for a pool table and there is a strange little room the Clinton used as a music room.

Actually they totally gutted the interior. The only thing original are the exterior sandstone walls. A steel skeleton was built inside and then it was built back pretty much as the original had been.

Imagine having code word clearance and you worked at a secure facility that makes beer. They had to have rail access The railroads that transported the raw ingredients also had to have a code word clearance to work the subdivision that delivered the raw ingredients to the warehouse that made the beer.
