@@abasqanas1995 the circus around the team plus Ronaldo being in a terrible shape were contributing factors imo. But there's also the fact that Parreira wasn't the coach for that team with all that fire power. That team needed someone bolder on offense and smart on defense. It's really sad they didn't win that year 😕

I think Rivaldo was a more decisive player than Ronaldinho (and then Messi and CR7). Well, in shape Ronaldo9 remains the best player of the last 25 years.

It's a joke that number 18 is never listed on greatest goals ever lists. There is no way anybody would even consider attempting to head at goal from there, let alone whilst being marked by Maldini, with Buffon in goal. But to actually be running away from goal with Maldini on his shoulder, swivel AWAY from the goal, making contact with the ball with his back to goal, and then hit a curling header from an angle with such precision, leaving Buffon absolutely dumbfounded despite being in a good position...sorry, but one of the greatest goals of all time for me. I guess headers just don't get picked for GOAT lists. But no other player could do that, past or present. Absolute wonder goal, worthy of being spoken about like ane 40 yard over headers

It was a stupid goal to give away. And won the Brazilians the game. Had seaman stayed on his line it would have been comfortable save. Regardless, taking nothing from Ronaldinho, it was well taken free kick.

Such a strange squad. On one hand the attack was amazing, with Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho, and Marcos was a great keeper. On the other hand half the defense was strangely average, even though it had three great players (Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Lucio) on top form. And the bench was full of players you'd never heard of if you didn't live in Brazil- Vampeta, Edilson, Anderson Polga, Ceni, Ricardinho, Luizao. You got the feeling if any of the first eleven got injured they would be way weaker.
