The film industry has had some major wins over the last decade...and then there were these flops. For this list, we’ll be looking at movies released in the past ten years that cost a fortune to make, but couldn’t recoup their production and marketing costs at the box office. Our countdown includes “Cats” (2019), “Fantastic Four” (2015), “Strange World” (2022), “Chaos Walking” (2021), and more! Which flop do you think deserved to perform better? @@MasterGeek-mk5ne A sequel isn’t going to happen. Dwayne just couldn’t flex his muscles (and his ego) to get to $400 Million. Oh, and Henry Cavill is done as Superman. If it wasn’t for Warner Bros. studio Interference, the DCEU would’ve been dead after Black Adam flopped.

I liked it, but still felt that, though it was a different time, how the hell anybody would do something that messy when their culture even puts people to death over cheating. I wasn't even sure if Jacques's perspective even implied that it wasn't rape. It wasn't until it showed Marguerite taking her shoes off that it looked kinda odd, implying consent.

No it wasn't and I have seen it as well and the majority agrees with me otherwise the director wouldn't blame a single generation for his need to give it an over 2 hour run time. We do not know Scott anything and it is not out fault that his film failed and maybe next time Scott should learn from his mistakes and go better next time. Scott could've cut off 30 to 45 minutes and it would've been better.

The Snyder cut was the more acclaimed one. Though people hated "Gritty Superman," people hated inconsistency even more. I do miss the Aquaman-sitting-on-the-lass scene, though.

Disney may have not done a live action Peter Pan, but Tristar/Sony did it, in a different way, and it's a one of my favorite movies of all time. Hook was amazing and Robin Williams was the perfect person for that role. Dustin Hoffman's Captain Hook was great as well. Can't help but mention Bob Hoskins as Smee.

Disney has made a live action of Peter Pan. Disneys Peter Pan & Wendy from 2023 cost $170 million and grossed $0 in theaters as Disney never dared to release it in theaters and it went straight to Disney+. It doesn't look like Disney can make good movies anymore.

18:00 The failure of “CATS” is actually amazing Somehow the studio didn’t recognize that the reason the musical was so successful was because of REPEAT tickets. Basically, millions of cat ladies would make semi regular pilgrimages to Broadway to go watch it. But no one else ever saw it 😅 So, when it hit feeders, all the cat ladies saw it once, didn’t like it, and nobody else came to see it

The last duel as quite fascinating to watch. With the perspectives and also pretty realistic portrayal of that time period. And the fights were nicely shot. I watched as a stream though, not in the cinema.

Some of these aren't bad movies they just didn't do well at the box office. A box office record doesn't define the quality of a movie, just what's trendy, popular in the moment. Anyway, watchmojo should do the opposite, top 10 movies that sucked or fans hated that had high box office like Captain Marvel and Twilight to name a few offhand for example.

Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Since the 90s, I always thought Waterworld was the biggest flop in history, but I recently found out it was not. The movie's budget was $175,000,000 (estimated), and the Gross worldwide was $264,218,220, according to IMDB. 🥶

What I like the most about the X-Men movies is the fact that they never tried to follow the MCU's formula or its tropes, especially after it became a trend They never relied on nostalgia, the tone always kept consistent, and they always focused on the present And Dark Phoenix kept that way They kept their sense of individuality. Even the score was different in each movie

X-Men was my first introduction into the Superhero movies, grew up on them and regardless of some bad ones, I've loved it all. I Like MCU but X-men has a special place in my heart and a nostalgic feeling.

I watched The Last Duel on my phone, JUST to piss Ridley Scott off. It WAS a good movie though. I found it odd how he didn't want people to watch it at home, as the movie's method of storytelling lends itself better to being able to compare scenes as the viewer pleases.

Given how popular Keanu Reeves is, in part thanks to the John Wick franchise, I really feel like had 47 Ronin been released after John Wick: Chapter 1, the film would’ve done a lot better

My problem with 47 ronin was that instead of having one actor (Keanu), whose character was supposed to be born and raised in Japan speak Japanese, they had the japanese actors speak in English instead. I feel like the dialogues in English restrained their performances, and these are even top notch actors including hiroyuki sanada. Compare that to the performances in letters from iwo jima, a Hollywood movie with an all-japanese cast speaking and acting comftably in their native language.

@helgageraldine513- Couldn't disagree more. Love reading books but I wouldn't have even watched if the whole movie needed subtitles. The movie was actually really good and your idea would've limited the movies exposure.

The PROBLEM with "47 Ronin" is that the original Japanese version was based on historical fact. These master swordsman actually existed. In Japan, there is a monument dedicated the last survivor. Hollywood refuses to do any research to so many movies in order to make money. Sad!

@clarencewalker3925 vlad the impaled was historical but we all love a Dracula story. The story was interesting and very Sci fi. The historically accurate story is awesome. This was a Sci fi twist.

I believe that Black Adam could still have done better if the price tag could have been lowered down a bit without the reshoots and add in a extra 230 million more dollars to it's box office, then it would still be great.

Anything short of blockbuster was a flop with how DC saw it and positioned it. And it was just a bad movie. The opening weekend did the best of any movie Dwayne a Johnson has ever done but it tanked immeidatly after becsuse it just wasn’t good.

the rock really had his head up his ass for not tying himself into the Shazam movies. I heard their characters are closely tied together in the comics and when word got out about it everyone instantly knew that no one was steering that ship and not to expect much. total tool.

Well it didn't and we know why. Scott needs to learn from his mistakes and next time he can make a film that would be better and also he should've cut out 30 to 45 minutes of the film and it would've been better.

I’m not millennial generation, but why insult so many young people because you didn’t get your way. I’d be ashamed. If anything you drive people away saying dumb stuff like that. Yeah I won’t be seeing this movie because of that ego. Yeah I probably could learn about this history on a cellphone for free, instead of buying a ticket, paying someone who talks like that. Besides our movie theater shut down years ago, because of streaming outlets and lower population area.

@@ryanlanders1770 I'm a millennial myself and all I ever wanted to be is a filmmaker and the first lesson I learned is that the paying customer is your lifeblood and that you must always give them great stories as well as entertainment. Plus if you have physical media never get rid of them for if streaming becomes more and more powerful that theaters will continue to close down and that will be the end of the art that is cinema.

As absurd as The Monster Truck premise was, the monsters were charming and my daughter just loved them. The same with BFG, which I consider our sweet joined cinematic experience.

Black Adam was banned from some other countries that’s why it seemingly flopped worldwide, reall they just hated Johnson making his own DC film. Last Duel was really good also. Also I liked 47Ronin. It’s crazy cause I watch a lot of movies and haven’t seen any of these except Adam, league, 47. I wish I had the opportunity I would make the most successful movie ever cause I see trends and style before they happen I just necker had a backer

Jupiter Ascending is still one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. Yes it’s bad, but it’s so fascinatingly bad. Truly a unique gem of a film.

Black Adam is an atrocious film and clearly The Rock has zero idea of the source material. How can you introduce Black Adam and have zero mention of Shazam and vice versa for that matter, how there have been two Shazam movies and no link to Black Adam.....sigh.....the ONLY good part and I mean ONLY good part of Black Adam was the portrayal of Doctor Fate AND they killed him off.....sigh

It's a horrible movie, I suffered through the entire thing.... unoriginal, unfunny, not good....they actually had a somewhat decent idea for the ending where is most of the superhero movies fail....having the villain die to be reborn is such a cool concept and they bring him back as the most plain jane, bland, horrible CGI villian when they could've done so much more.....the movie is absolutely horrible, what part of the movie is good outside of the Doctor Fate character? Who actually should've been the one to get his own movie.....the movie is so generic and predictable and boring and The Rock is not a good actor....I seriously am shocked people liked this movie.......it's SOOOOO bad
