Actually, “1985” is a cover because SR-71 recorded the original version. However, it was on their third album, which was only released in Japan well past their brief time in the spotlight.
@dondemcsak5925
@dondemcsak5925 Жыл бұрын
Not entirely a cover, as Jarret from Bowling For Soup has writing credits on the song. He did change it up a bit. Listen to SR-71's version, and the chorus is a bit different, as is the bridge and the last verse. It was enough to get some writing credit, but it started as a song from Mitch. Mitch knew it was a song better for BFS than his band, SR-71, and reached out to Jarrett about it. The connection between Mitch and Jarrett from Bowling for Soup is .... Butch Walker. Butch produced both bands (and a whole lot more). If you listen to the BFS songs before Butch and after Butch, the songwriting is night and day. Jarrett learned a ton from Butch (as did Mitch, who became a good songwriter too).

Finn, I think what sets you apart from other music youtubers is that you talk about the culture and community around the music. Which can be really fascinating, especially when as a viewer I know nothing about it or you basically describe us. Noone else does it like you. Which is why I think Teenage Dirtbag sits firmly in pop punk. Not because it sounds like pop punk but because the people listening to that song listened to blink not butt rock.

Ra - Do You Call My Name a one hit wonder for sure even though they had a couple good tracks. If there was a 21-40 list I can see it in there.

We now need a "That's What I Call Buttock" compilation concentrating on 1995-2009 with songs like these and post-grunge crap mainly to have a commercial for it made in the style of Freedom Rock.
