I mow twice a week, sometimes more. One hour of watering with my in ground sprinkler system delivers 1/2 inch of water. I try to mow early and water their after. This gives me between 1 and 1 1/2 inches per week. Been doing this for years, works great. Usually spray my soil conditioner and adjuvant package close to my fertilizer application.

Hello Vince! Just found your channel and will be playing catch up watching some prior videos. I haven't heard yet so thought I'd ask; what area of the country are you in and what is your lawn cultivars? Looks like cool season grasses? We're in Central Arkansas so in the transition zone with cool season grasses in the back yard and warm season grasses in the front yard. I'm working on some tests/experiments for the remainder of 2023 summer and will be going through a front lawn renovation with zoysia this fall/winter. Will be following along.

Hey! Thanks for checking in. I’m in New Jersey. Technically we are transition zone as well in south Jersey. But it’s mostly fescue in my area. Me personally, I planted perennial ryegrass. Love it!

We are in a drought in WI. Grass is struggling hard with drought and temps for being spring.

Are you under water restrictions? Check out a product called Hydretain. Helps reduce watering upto 50%.

The two week forecast for my area is 80 to 90 degree temps and no rainfall. I choose not to mow or fertilize to prevent the sun burning my lawn. Other neighbors already have fertilizer burn lawns. Mine is still green.

Hi. Thanks again for all of these videos and suggestions. The closest I have to a 9-0-9 is a 7-1-2 or a 10-10-10. Are these OK for the Memorial Day and July 4th treatments? It's tough in NY to get anything beyond the big brands. Scotts basic lawn food is like 28-0-4 or something like that. The 28 is way overkill from my perspective and what your and others videos recommend. Thanks.

Either one of those should be fine. Even the 28-0-4 is ok. You would just put less of it down. We are aiming for roughly 0.75 lbs of nitrogen per 1,000 SF. Ideally, Phosphorus and Potassium would only be applied if a soil test recommends it. But many folks have put down a bit of everything without any issues.

Warm season turf is not my specialty… sorry. What I do know is that the warm season calendar is almost a direct opposite to cool season.

🇺🇸 Never Forget Sir. I been watering new seed for 3 times a day 10 min each time Sprouts are coming thru amazing Now….. How many times a day should I come down to and how many mins ? Johnathan Green Ultra was put down on the May 15 JG Touch up put down on the 20th I composted to level And peat moss both times. Any advice ? I’m in Rhode Island 🌊 Thanks Sir

Keep it going until you see about 90% germination and the grass has some decent growth on it. You can pluck one to see how long the roots are. If you are seeing decent root development, start backing down on the water in stages. Like go to once a day for a week. Then drop to once every other day. Then try once every three days. As you decrease the days of water, increase the volume of water. Ultimately, you’ll want about a 1” to 1.5” per week of water over maybe two water cycles. Deep and Infrequent
