| Duane 'Bang' Ludwig |
A professional MMA competitor since 2000, Duane “Bang” Ludwig fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championships in their welterweight division. He has the official record of Fastest Knock Out in UFC history at 6 seconds. He holds a notable knockout win over former UFC lightweight champion, Jens Pulver. Duane started practicing Mauy Thai when he was just 15 years old, and in 2004 he won his final Muay Thai title where he defeated Thai Mongkhon Wiwasuk by decision after five rounds to claim the I.S.K.A. world title; something Ludwig considers one of his proudest moments. Duane is also founder and head coach of the BANG Muay Thai system, and happily married father of two.

Hahahahahahahaha all the experts on here critiquing and correcting. Duane Ludwig is an elite world level striker who's fought and beaten Muay Thai and K-1 world champions, not to mention a UFC veteran. Credentials don't get any better than this. Please just watch the video, trying to correct makes you look like a Noob.

Hes just punching wrong.. im sorry but he is thats not how you throw a punch properly. Yes it will work so does a shovel hook from time to time so slip it in when you can but you can throw a strait much harder and faster without doing what hes doing. For MMA watch DJ vs Dodson 2 and watch how DJ uses his movement to slip the strait in without any wind up the proper way.

One thing he didn't touch on (I have heard relatively few martial artists speak of this), is that you should always have your eyes focused on your opponent's chest, rather than their head. This technique serves 3 important functions. #1) Your eyes are going to be focused on your opponents arms, so you'll see strikes coming faster than you would if you were focusing on your opponents jaw. You will also have better peripheral vision of your opponents legs, giving you more opportunities to analyze your opponents movements, and better defend everything from low kicks to takedown attempts. #2) Many fighters, aside from not constantly keeping their chins tucked, tend to raise their chins even higher while trying to strike and maintain eye focus on their target (most often times when reaching for a jab). Keeping your eyes focused on your opponent's chest, also insures your chin is being tucked, using your peripheral vision to guide your head strikes (as your eyes would be focused on your opponent's chest, rather than the intended target, their head), which is a skill that isn't as hard as most think it is to learn (once you have properly gaged your opponent's movements, if you know where their chest is - you know where their head is). #3) On a psychological level, without any eye contact with your opponent, neither of you will be able to read the other's emotions. Allowing you to focus on your opponent as a bio-mechanical obstacle you must break to overcome, rather than facing a person who's drive to win may or may not be greater than your own. The down side of this is also it's upside; it is much harder for your opponent to get in your head, also making it much harder for you to get in your opponent's head as well. Remember, your opponents head is only a threat to you, if it has a body beneath it. Their body is where the threat is, focus on it, more so than the target. Not getting hit is far more important to surviving a fight, than landing hits (at least when it comes to a street fight, but that ain't terrible advice for a cage bout neither).

he could very very well have brought up simply breathing... and could bring up where a strikes power actually starts from and how ur body should be used not just your arms... etc. there is many many things someone can pick to talk about and touch on. AND hearing and seeing a new opinion and side of view is normally always a good thing. :)

גיא לוי Fortunately fear has an aroma as beautiful as it is arousing. So like I said, keep the eyes focused where they need to be; the threat, not the target. Another thing I forgot to mention is that the eyes can lie. As in look high and strike low, or look low and strike high. Similar to the psychological warfare, the con is also the pro; though your eyes can no longer lie, neither can your opponent's.

Hey Dwayne much respect but I have a question for you?. When throwing the hook you don't advocate turning the wrist and fist so your knuckles are vertical as opposed to horizontal (basic boxing style). I can understand where you lead with your fist the way you do, the impact of those first 3 knuckles on your opponent is gonna hurt. Seems like a boxers hook to the head would rattle the cage more?. Just wonder if the way you show it is a kickboxers preference?. Definitely not questioning your professionalism, camp Alpha Male has gone beast mode since you have joined them.

If anyone with experience could please explain. I feel like biting down would make your head ring harder. When I bite down, lightly hitting my jaw disorients me, but not with a slack jaw. Now I've never fought or trained but have been punched in the face many times lmao and I've never been rocked beyond seeing sparks. Curious as to why the clenched jaw is better than a slack jaw.

If your jaw is tight then if it gets hit it will rock your head more. However if you have a slack jaw then you could pinch a nerve or break your jaw which is worse.

TIKI K strengthen your wrists and forearms dude. Grip strength. Lots of pulls up holding onto a towel, and kettlebells exercises for grip strength. The stronger the grip the harder you can punch, or at least you can take more stress on you're ligaments, muscles, and bones without damage which equals harder punchers without having to worry about breaking your hands or wrists... Which is what stops a lot of guys putting good technique and power into punches. Check out gennady Golovkin strength work. It's a lot on the arms and forearms and neck training to avos orb punches.

If you try throwing a variety of punches at a target/boxing bag, you will quickly see how rotating your punch is everything to landing cleanly bro. Put simply if you throw a right straight from a right angle to your opponent without turning your hand you will land with your ring and pinky knuckle, not the two you want to land.

+AJ Martinez, you are right that Duane does have certain features and facial expressions that someone who is an addict could possibly also have. But its a hasty conclusion to say that just because we see common features, that therefore he must be an addict. There are tons of reasons someone could look like that. I have a friend who always has an angry expression on his face, but he really isnt angry. The way his eye and eyebrows are shaped looks like an angry expression. I saw a video with Stephen Hawking and he sure had a lot of similarities with a junkie I saw in the park, but it would be a hasty conclusion to say Stephen Hawking is a junkie.

sorry you are crazy good duane but your wrong, you punch from the middle knucle down to the pinky knuckle to not break your hand. Jack dempsey's book says so and cus d amato also taught the same way. it 3 knuckles vs 2 and its the powerline is the pinky knuckle.

Do you know what a boxers fracture is? It most commonly occurs on the fourth or fifth metacarpal. That means the impact of hitting your small knuckles breaks your hand. Try hitting solid boards the way you described, I guarantee you it is not a fun time. The only way to not mangle yourself is to strike with the first two knuckles, this is not debatable, it's fact.
@chrisXDfull
@chrisXDfull 7 жыл бұрын
yes, thats why i said u land with 3 of the last knuckles not just 1 or 2, its simple maths, 3 knuckles landing vs 2. 3 would be safer. or u can go the safest path an open palm

The other striking mistake is the use of a boxing jab for mma. It is the slowest, most telegraphic , most unnatural, poorest strike the body can deliver. It's effectiveness is only at the end of the range. Anywhere in between that it loses power. It also goes from three destinations before it hits the target. That's like driving to New York from California but on the way you're gonna stop in Texas and Montana lol. There is absolutely no science to show this is the best way to throw a punch. Shows how much dogma there is in mma. Forget the ideas that these coaches have a name and famous fighters under neath them. It doesn't mean they are doing things the smartest way.
