A Profitable Business - Rules of Success Per Sam Ovens 1. Solve a high level Need/Demand/Problem in the Market (Specific People group) 2. Monitor and manage Cash flow available to invest in the business - Focus on having Cash Reserves. Receive money from customers before you have to spend it. Run the Biz lean on spending money. Plan on Having 1 year of cash reserves if zero dollars came in. 3. Assemble a GOOD team with GOOD leadership with GOOD attitudes (hire the best) and automate efficiently as much as possible. I'll add 4. Be single minded on the Vision 5. Avoid multitasking 6. Have a daily Routine that Quantum leaps & amplifies your impact. 7. Trade EXPECTATIONS & COMPLAINING for APPRECIATION & GRATITUDE and the whole game changes in a moment. Thank you Sam Ovens !

this is the "Real Deal - Man of Steel" info first hand. I have never seen any one in the marketing realm Give as much as Sam. Others will sell you into a "Mini Sales Presentation" and then hit you again into the next level. Not Sam, Everything he says should hit you on a quantum level - Now, Imagine what he offers to those who wish to be inside his circle. Keep amazing us, and Thank You Sam.

Did you research consumer behaviour to find actual vs ideal situation? In my degree, we did actual vs ideal self and how marketing is bridging that gap. Never thought about it in business sense transferring mental models seems to be a great asset you use all the time. Thanks again, man!

Sam you are just the best. Was so helpful to hear what you had to say about market need. How that is the number one reason why businesses fail. Made me see more clearly the importance of that and how that is also the key to good marketing, a good product etc... Everything basically. Ha ha

Awesome vid. Recommend putting the camera on a tripod and speaking to it (the at times shaky footage is kind of annoying), and at the very least trying your best to look into the camera lens instead of the frame of yourself. The second point especially would be much more effective. Other than that love watching these kind of "break-down" vids. Keep it up :)

Yeah great reminder again... still very early on for myself, but having this be a constant thing I'm looking to ask as I move through various tasks day-to-day is great to keep the focus, particularly when solving a problem... definitely find sometimes it's easy to get carried away with things you know yourself and then you've forgotten your market... so making a notice to ask myself that question daily will be a change I implement after this video. Much appreciated :)

Thank you for the insights Sam. The observation of business owners who are enthralled with the technology, rather than being centered on the client's need resonated with me especially. I've tended to dive too far into the technology losing track of the client's use of the service as the essential focus. Will be sure to adjust my thinking going forward. Also, I really enjoy your style of communication. The clear, direct, and orderly approach to the content is especially helpful. You've made sure to get the core points, explain them in context, and succinctly embed them into an actionable daily process. It's clear people will gain a lot of value from this video. Many thanks!

Great video. The only comment I would have is whether being cash forward is as important for an SaaS business. When it scales the cost to aquire each customer is negligible so I would have thought relying on customer subscriptions would be okay ( if one is not seeking external investment).

Haven't met too many entrepreneurs who actually take the time to research market needs or build and execute an action plan to fill those needs. In real life, it comes down to a few lucky startups who happen to stumble across a market need and take advantage of it. Strategic planning is a wonderful thing to write and talk about, but very few entrepreneurs actually make the effort to walk down that path.

Sam. Great videos and I'm on the foot of the ladder. I have a 2 clients and I basically offer services in 'search' (SEO and PPC). MY experience lies with e-commerce as I've been intensively involved for 6 years in two companies. MY questions is. Is ecommerce PPC and SEO too broad a niche?

I hardly ever hear people refer to things in terms of - first principles, so im glad Sam you gave me a context in which to comprehend the meaning of that phrase. I only ever hear Peter Thiel explaining and describing things in the perspective of first principles, and sometimes Ray Dalio, which is strange given the magnitude of insight they produce when investigated and identified. Must just be a modality needed by those who are capable of producing billions in value AND profit. If only everyone could learn form billionaires, a whole lot of potential would be saved.
