In this vid i tell you what I wish someone would've shared with me when I first started! These are some great beginner kayak fishing tips. What I think is the best fishing kayak rig. Learning how to kayak fish can be tough for beginners. There is a lot of info out there it can be overwhelming. I tell you about my 4 years of kayak fishing from when I owned a bunch of Hobie kayaks to now in my pelican 130 hds. If you have any questions please let me know!

Man, this guy is so underrated, I’m new to kayak fishing and soon will be making kayak fishing videos, all 5 tips actually make sense, everybody who go out in a kayak needs to see this video, My favorite part is be ready to flip, you’re totally right, my buddy lost his mirage drive one time because he didn’t have a bungee cord or anything to make sure his gear is safe, I really appreciate this video, I’m new to this and only caught 2 trouts on my first river kayak trip. Please make more videos like this.

Man, I've been fishing almost exclusively from a kayak for just shy of 30 years (dang I'm old!) and that was some of the best kayak fishing wisdom I've heard! Kudos and good on you! And yeah, I've been dong this a while and I learned something new when I stumbled across this vid 😆 Air in your dry bag to float your gear that went overboard! Brilliant! Can't believe I hadn't thought of that! 👍 One thing you didn't mention was dress for the water and not the air. I moved to Jax from Portland Oregon and that's critical there, but much less so down here where the water is warm and half the time its almost shallow enuf for you to walk home if push came to shove. Still might be worth a mention. But again thanks for all that really sage advice especially with sooo much horse hockey out there from people who at best might have been there, but not really done that. You've "done that" and it shows. I'm kinda easing into fishing from the sand and your vids have been really helpful! Thanks again and maybe I'll see you out there.

Great video. Thanks for the valuable info -- so valuable it is already saving me money! Never kayak fished before and the wife and I just bought our beginners yesterday. I don't have a lot of money so already planned on being pretty thrifty but I didn't think about the less is more...simplify things. That and the at you didn't start off with fish finders and stuff really helped. Thanks for your Service both tothe country and to other Veterans. God Bless Our Vets.

Good intro video. My wife and I recently purchased a pair of kayaks and have been out a few times getting used to them on the inter coastal and Guana. Next step is fishing from them and your KISS approach to yak fishing is in line with what I was thinking.

Hey Jesse I use my 32 qt Engle cooler for tackle and dry storage and some water bottles it also has the 4 rod holders on it that I tether my rods to while I’m not using them. It’s easy accessible and the cooler will float and save my gear. Or I can use it to hold onto in case i flip and get separated from my yak. I only pull out the bare minimum stuff I need at the time that way my deck is clear and safe. Hope this will help someone and a great video your channel rocks. Stay safe and tight lines bro.

you are very welcome brother! there are tons of cheap pedal drives out there man. A few I recommend are the pelican catch 130 or 110 hdII, the kaku zulu, old town kayaks any of them. Lots of very affordable yaks out there now a lot more than when i started.

Subscribed, and shared on Facebook. One thing... What kind of life jacket do you recommend? I worry cause I take my boys out with me and always thought "what if one got knocked unconscious. I have cheap $30 Walmart Stern's pfds now but I always make them wear them. Any suggestions?

Thomas Bobo no has to be visible 360 it’s called an “at anchor light” boats have to have them also. It tells boaters you are are either at anchor or not under power. So they know you can’t get out of the way basically.
