NSM is already in service with several nations, not only the royal navy. More notably is that a new version will be able to fit into the missile bay of the F35, meaning it will be the only ASM that can fly with full stealth on a 5th gen multirole attack aircraft. Sadly the skjold corvettes will be retired once the F35 replaces its role.

@Drew Peacock The UK and France are jointly developing a missile called Perseus to meet the anti shipping roll. The system can be ship or aircraft launched. The NSM from Kongsbergh is being adapted to fit the internal weapons bay of F35 making it a deadly combination.
@NATObait
@NATObait 2 жыл бұрын
@Drew Peacock the Scalp/ Storm Shadow missile is used as the base for MdCN, their is a torpedo tube capable launch mode and range is beyond 1000k. Bramhos, Kalibr , YJ18 etc have to be regarded as vulnerable to long range interceptors like SM 6 and certainly Aster and the more common SM 2 would be perfectly capable of interception. NSM on the other hand uses stealth and low level to approach targets.

How can Saab RBS 15 not be on the list? It is one of the most powerful, versatile and advanced systems around. The latest version has a range of over 300 kilometers, has a highly sophisticated radar seeker with unrivalled target discrimination, all weather capability, super precision, super stealth capabilities, is extremely resistant to electronic counter measures, can be launched from 3 platforms - land sea and air, can be launched in salvo's from different locations and arrive at the same target simultaneously, its super deadly and can tear apart a large warship easily, and has land strike capability so it can be used as a cruise missile as well.

@@MJLee-wl6kt its by far the most deadliest missile on that list. If you think about it. Unlike the bamos which can be targeted by missile defenses, its just flies really fast so you don't have enough time once it goes over the horizon to lock on and shoot. The LRASM nobody can lock on too in sea skimming mode and it can avoid, dodge enemy defenses. If you have an early warning radar or helicopter or some sort. You can lock on to the bravos missile hundreds of miles away before it even gets to the ship. Maybe it takes 1, maybe it takes 3 but you have the time to figure it out. The LRASM is so stealth that you can't even lock on to it. Not even once it gets over the horizon but only until its 3 or 5 miles away. Its still going high subsonic with a 1000 lbs warhead (much bigger than anything else on that list), plus its by far the most accurate and jam resistant on that list. Just think about it, you can't even get the LRASM on radar unless its super close. Bramos you can and you can from really far away, and its not even as close to being as accurate, (those types of missile are inherently in accurate)
@snsproduc

@@madhurisaxena5215 Do you understand the problem with the Russian or Indian missile technology. You guys have way bigger missile than we do and all you do is just make it bigger to achieve more range and power, instead of actually improving fuel efficiency. The day the US decides to make their missile bigger is gonna be bad day for you (Russia). That big of a missile takes up too much space that could go to other missile that can also get though air defenses and is way more expensive. Also those last two are still in development. Another thing, the Brahmos 500km range is not a sea skimming mode.

@Just some yeti with internet access your capita per Soldier is around 57k, which brings you in about level with countries like Ghana. Just as a comparison, first world European countries like France, Germany and the UK have a capita of around 350k $ per soldier. The US has around 750k $ per soldier. This is ofc not spent on the soldiers itself but it does show the budget in relation to the size of the military. India is number 4 in military spending, but you spend 71 billion for a military with over 1.2 mio personnel, compare that to, let’s say Germany, who have around 184k personnel or around 15% of India’s military, yet they spend 64 billion on their military or around 90% of India’s military spendings. Do you see the issue here? You just have a lot of men but they’re all poorly trained and poorly equipped. This is a common issue that we see in third world or developing nations like India. Quantity over quality, your leadership still hasn’t recognized that manpower isn’t that important anymore. North Korea also has a giant military and yet they would get absolutely crushed by any western nation.

@@dredre5521 Hum hum... : One failed to blow up, yet both hit the Stark Frigate. Missiles were also quite old, compared to supposedly much more advanced American forces. The missiles were older than the Frigate. Discarding the Exocet for one miss fire when other missiles presented have only demonstrated "efficiency" against unconventional targets (the Club for instance has never really been used against high tech Professional armies but rather against Daesch arseholes), is not an honnest answer. Exocets are good weaponry and have been upgraded over the years. They are smart missiles, hard to intercept, with a very long range, possible launch from many platfors (ships, planes, helicopter submarines in diving etc...) I seriously hope for you you'll never be in a ship targetted by an Exocet. This missile is one of the biggest fear of any military captain in the world. Even the French admit that they are not really capable of intercepting their own missile. I know it's common to make fun of the French, but in this instance, I am not sure it's wise.

Missiles like the Exocet are nice indeed, they can be carried by both ships and aircraft (from my knowledge), and have been combat proven (as far as I know). If this was a top 10, I wouldn't be surprised to see it there (or a different top 5 even).

The LRSAM is the one true threat, with it's massive war head and stealth low observable profile and being air launched. It far surpasses Brahmos in probable hit to kill capabilities. Brahmos is fast, yes. But it's large non-stealth profile and smoke belching engine would be seen long before engagement and countered by anti-missile missile-systems. *edit* for grammatical boo-boo's - again

Cargo tankers can be used as shields to these war ships
@norwegiangadgetman
@norwegiangadgetman Жыл бұрын
No they can't. These are SMART missiles. They use ship signatures for target aquisition. Even the old Penguin missiles from the 70s wouldn't be tricked by a tanker. Not that it matters; tankers are a vital part of a fleet. Sink one and the time a fleet can operate in the area is reduced considerably.

Hypersonics have speed, but no maneuverability. A choice ...Exocets are very difficut to detect, even by the most up-to-date radars, and are able of very complex trajectories to avoid counter-measures, and have their own integrated radars, which come into action only some few seconds before the impact ...

Club isn't used by the Russian Navy. It's the export version of the Kalibr missile family, which has superior capabilities and is actually used by the Russian Navy. Also, instead of Brahmos it would be better to show the P-800 Onyx, on which the Brahmos is based. The Mach 4, 1000km-ranged Kh-32 is missing completely, as is the aeroballistic Mach 10-capable Kh-47M2 Kinzhal. And since there are other ASMs still in development in the video, it should mention the hypersonic, scramjet-powered 3M22 Tsirkon.

Its USN affiliated BS designed to massage Murkans (bruised) egos. Ruskies make the best AShMs bar none, as their mission for decades has been to sink carriers and they have developed weapons for that purpose. The West has relied on comparatively weak weapons like harpoons, tomahawks and variants. The west has absolutely nothing to equal the Zircon/Tsirkon so this commentators just ignores its existence else it would spoil his narrative 😛

During nuclear warhead testing in the late 40s and 50s, several battleships were used as ground zero for hydrogen bombs, they suffered damage to the superstructure. Carriers also, some flight deck damage. But nukes against modern hardened warships, the warhead would have to detonate internally.
