This might be an old video but brings me back to an anecdote. There is a picture floating around of a sack of potatoes that says "Only for livestock or army" So in that regard, inmates aren't the only ones getting those veggies.

In federal prison we got chicken once a week, i always sold mine. The boxes did say not for human consumption and was expired. Usually the head of that dept ownes a restaurant and orders the oldest cheapest food for the inmates while ordering steak snd shrimp for their restaurant, paid for by the prison. While at fpc pensacola this actually happened!

My local sheriff was caught in a scandal because he fed the inmates corn dogs 3 times a day for years. In the state I live in, the sheriff gets to keep whatever money is left from the food budget as a bonus, with no oversight.

There was a prison warden in Arizona that bragged that he purposely gave the inmates moldy and long expired food, luckily for the inmates the "Sheriff" was voted out and the new Sheriff cleaned up things and serving regular prison food. I watched on After Prison Show where another Warden was putting RAT POISON in the inmates' food. Guess the Warden thought that killing the inmates was a fun and money saving idea. Note these people were NOT on death row. My girl and I love beef flavored Ramen Noodles, we still have a few boxes of them in our kitchen lol. Happy belated birthday to your wife.

In new york state prison you don't eat pork period oh and we don't have burritos

Wow. This is an eye opening view into prison in other countries. In Australia (well at least in my state) the meals are ok. The guards eat them too. Also the people in the kitchens know that for every meal cooked a portion is frozen so that if anyone gets sick it can be tested and the cooks will be held responsible.

If you made fresh orange juice that was perfectly fine for human consumption, it would do the same to the paint because many kinds of fruit are very acidious. If you were to spill orange juice on rock like marble or concrete it would start eating at that as well whilest your body is perfectly capable of handeling such acidious substances due to your stomach being filled with even stronger acid. Also the residu on the bottom happens to all fruit juice after a while, i think the juice would be pretty safe as long as it doesn't smell like wine. And even then you could still drink it.

I did almost a county year (8 months w/ good time) and a lot of what you mentioned I experienced. People from trustee pod would say that the meat was labelled "not for human consumption," we called it "murderburger" because it was an unidentifiable meat with stringy tendons in it. I drank water only, or hot pickle juice when I had it. One guy was always pointing out at my table a stain on the floor where the juice spilled and took the color off the floor. A lot of people did claim it killed your dick. Other people from trustee would talk about people messing with the CO's trays, wiping their bread on their asses, things like that. I usually ate the pudding, unfortunately. My favorite tray was a breakfast tray that had cereal, applesauce and a piece of a coffeecake on it. Mix the cake in the cereal and it tastes good. Commissary was so expensive that you had to eat the trays though unless you were rich. All the trays come lidded and everything inside is always wet with condensation. The leftover lunch meat would be minced and mixed with mayonnaise to make "catfood", which I almost threw up the first time I opened my tray and saw. You could order a 10$ meal once a week that somewhat normal, something like a tiny hamburger with 2 miniature pieces of bacon on it with french fries and a bottle of soda. My experience in jail was very different from what I hear/see on youtube (like 60 days in) there were no pod bosses or gangs being talked about, there were federal detainees and murderers walking around in the same pods as chomos. People just mind their own business. Most people had non violent charges. The scariest experience I had in jail wasn't the 2 people that threatened to slice me, or the one who said he's going to kill me on the streets some day, it was when the whole pod and the CO watched a kid get beaten into a coma. The response team couldn't get through the slider or something. This dude was kicking the kid in the head and dropping elbows on him when he was already knocked out and seizing up. We all just watched.

I worked in the kitchen and the koolaid box says "Biohazardous" and the crossbones right thru it and says "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION " and that's some real shit too.... in Davidson County, N.C.

My buddy just spent a week, A WEEK, in a jail in FREAKING IOWA (border town with Illinois and Wisconsin and Cook County inmates have been relocated to area jails due to covid). Dude was in a dorm and this mans had candy on his bunk TWICE. First time he put it on the floor next to his bunk, nothing happened. Second time it was on a fresh pair of socks, he didn't touch the candy or the socks. Moral of the story is, if it ain't yours, DON'T TOUCH IT.

Here's something inmates should hear. A lot of the meat and stuff labeled "not for human consumption" just means it's not meant for grocery stores or restaurants but is typically the same shit they serve in some hospitals, institutions and even military instillations. I wouldn't eat some of the food they served in the chow hall bc the cooks said the same thing. This is what their serving the US military and most the stuff that's about to go bad from military bases goes to the prisons and jails to use a week before the label says it's supposed to expire. They also put the soft-dick stuff in military food in basic and AIT training as well. A lot of of military training reminds me of prison institutions.

We called ot dirty bird and i loved it. And we had sweatmeat too. It was bologna that did not stop dripping sweat. And the meat that says not for human consumption has horse meat and things like horse and lambs brains mixed up.. just wrong. And we used to get syrup for pancakes long ago and it was a gallon syrup, so we had to water it down with 3 gallons water

when food is expired past the date on the package does not mean the food is no longer good it just means that stores are not allowed to sell it anymore thats why that date is there, 9/10 when food is past the expire date its still good for quite a while. especially if its dried goods such as pudding, pudding is a powder thats sealed into a package guaranteed that stuff is still good a year after the due date

The expiration date does not mean it's bad it just means that legally stores cannot sell it to consumers. As far as not fit for human consumption, in America horse meat is not considered fit for human consumption that does not mean you can't eat it.

In YDC in Ga I worked in kitchen. The eggs man. They’re powder, Bob Barker Company supplies them, Not Intended for Human Consumption or “Zoo Use” stickers on the aluminum tray itself. It’s a big rip open cardboard box with aluminum tray full of milky yellow powder with a fill line you put hot water in. No stirring. In like 3 min it’s swollen into “eggs” smelled like straight sulfur. There were little black and brown “dots” in the powder which we could never figure out…
