She failed to tell the real truths, just the good things. Low wages, stupidly high rents, no department stores and no Doctors, hospitals in dam need of upgrades and staff and better wages for them.

As a Halifax native myself, point #4 about lack of traffic is not true at all. In fact, some parts of Halifax has a lot of traffic during their rush hours, especially Herring Cove Road, St. Margaret's Bay Road, Quinpool Road, Chebucto Road, Mumford Road, Bedford Highway, Lady Hammond Road, Highway 102, Highway 111, MacDonald Bridge, Magazine Hill, and Highway 118. I spent most of my life in Halifax's Spryfield Area, and when you head to the Halifax Peninsula, its main core area, during the rush hour, you'll witness major traffic tie ups for up to 3 kilometres. Makes me glad that I now live in Corner Brook where traffic jams and tie ups are rare.

I was born and raised in Halifax, especially in the Spryfield and Herring Cove areas. I moved to Western Newfoundland in late August 2008 for employment and family reasons, first ten years in Gillams, and now in Corner Brook. Each time I return to Halifax for vacation, I'm amazed at how much the city has changed. You definitely notice the big changes in the Fairview, Spryfield, and other outer city areas. With Halifax getting more expensive, especially in Spryfield where I grew up, I doubt that I'll return home when I retire. I'll more likely stay in Corner Brook or move to Southern Labrador where rent is much cheaper.

Loved the video and your humor 😂! I've been in GTA / Toronto for 11 years, and I'm honestly tired of it and can't see a future for myself to even check the most basic boxes. I watch friends here working 2 jobs, overcompensating, and slaving away just to be in the city, and I wonder what's the point if you're exhausted all the time... I've never been a city boy, and grew up on the beach in Goa, India; and Nova Scotia / Halifax looks far more like home to me. Housing seems far more affordable a distance away from the city, and from the videos I've been watching, people seem more grounded, and I don't sense any of that dreadful rush / dull monotony of city folk. These were all reasons for me to consider leaving Ontario behind me. I'm an Introvert and just want simple things in life, a small home / cottage, my cat, my motorcycle, the beaches, and my PC and I'll be happy.

I'm not from Halifax, I'm from a small native community called Sipekanekatik (I call it Indianbrook still, I don't like the new name). Thanks Brenda K for the video! @@Bekind95 why would a senior move here, seniors are not treated well here unless you have your own deep pockets to afford the huge rents if so then it may be good if your healthy. If you think you may need medical then stay away, the doctors waiting list is monumentally long, the hospitals are under staffed and under paid so waits for emergency are very long. May be wise to go to a place where medical is better but remember we burnt out so many of our Doctors and nurses who deserve better.

To me this is 5 reasons TO LIVE in Halifax. I'm Colombian currently thinking to go to Canada, right now living in Kiev, Ukraine (big city) but in Colombia i come from a small city (About the size of Halifax) I do like big cities but honestly there's nothing like simple, easy and friendly lifestyle of a small town, nice people, everything close. Plus, I love cold weater and THE BEACH. In Colombia i live very close to the beach and honestly i don't really enjoy to be into the sea, just to look at it, have fun around and swim for maximum an hour is more than enough. But the sound of the water during the night is the best. I got the feeling that Halifax is the place for me. Hopefully will be soon in Canada👍 Cheers! Nice video🍺

Jobs are here if you want to wait tables, but pay is low in NS and taxes are very high here. The cost of living here is higher than many other provinces . Medical is over strung, as we have a lot of Doctors and nurses left, they are low paid and over worked. Rents are very high and we have a shortage of vacant apartment 1% is the last figure. so rethink comming here.

Traffic jams are common in Halifax, especially roads connecting outer city and suburban areas to the Halifax Peninsula, Burnside Industrial Park, or within the Circumferential Highway in Dartmouth. I used to live in Spryfield, and each time I headed to the Halifax Peninsula for work, school, university, or workouts, the traffic tie ups can be huge. I presently live in Corner Brook, a Western Newfoundland city with a population of 20,000 people, and the traffic bottlenecks are almost non-existent. However, you have to endure their harsh winters. Halifax will always be my home town.

I'm really confused. None of this is fully accurate. True we don't have all of the high end shops. but, we have a couple and the ones we don't ppl buy online. Halifax itself is not foggy often. Its the communities outside of Halifax that are along the coast that get foggy. We don't have steak houses? We have a bunch! Halifax has more bars, restaurants, clubs, ect... per capita than any other Canadian city. You cant take 10 steps without passing one. We have every single kind of food you can think of. All of them from street food to high end restaurants. Also, in downtown there are TONS of restaurants with decks and patios with views of the water. Number 4... we don't have traffic problems. That's true. But, its a reason why you WOULD want to live here. The same as number 5. But, number 5 is not accurate. If you are around residential areas or smaller communities outside of Halifax ppl say hi. Anywhere else no one is going to say hi or talk to you unless they know you. The most you will get in those areas are a smile and nod. But, that is only when you are put in a situation where you have to acknowledge someone. ie... make eye contact, pass close by them, ect... None of these were reasons not to live in Halifax.

Are you even talking about the Halifax in Nova Scotia. I don't think so. What's all this about the fog as if it's all the time? Friendly people? Are you serious? I rarely come across friendly people, not only in Halifax, NS but the surrounding city/towns. Seafood restaurants is a reason not to move to Halifax? What?! There's not as many as you make it sound like and there's other kinds of restaurants. Traffic... yeah, but waiting in traffic for 1 or 2 hours? Uh uh! I never waiting that long in Halifax traffic.
