This video is a 2nd Top-end Rebuild on my brother's sled. The first Rebuild was needed because a mechanic made an error during a bottom end repair that caused the wrist pin clip to fail, ruining one cylinder.
This 2nd Rebuild was needed because my brother ran his sled out of oil that caused one piston to seize. Take it easy on him, we gave him enough shit during this Rebuild.

Shavings from the scored cylinder could go down into the crankshaft good thing to check the crankcase bearings to have a good one.

Looking good. I like to install the piston ring into the cylinder right away (as a test) to check the ring end gap, it tells me if the bore is too far worn or ok.

I lost my heat exchanger on my Exciter 570 yesterday. The connection for the thermostat got unplugged so I never new it was running hot. Then all of a sudden she just died and knocked her way to a stop. It was seized but freed up real easy. Now I have it all torn apart and I'm waiting on new pistons and a hone. I understand your brothers pain. He ran his without oil, I ran mine without coolant.

You can make a wrist pin puller take a peace of threaded rod with a bolt head and take a washer on one end and a nut on the other end and put the rod in one end with the washers with a bigger socket and put the nut on the other side and tighten until the wrist pin comes out the other side into the socket.

Nice job! but after the gouging i saw in this video you should have takin the whole engine apart, there will be all kinds of metal down in the crank. You spent a few dollars on new parts and this is one way to buy those parts and many more all over again. Always Clean everything before installing new engine components. looking forward to part 3 of 3.

I have to tell ya good luck. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. After watching the first video and saying "Hello.... put the plug wires back on" then wondering if I just heard a query about the brakes not working when the sled was going to be towed all I can say is good luck guys. It's nice to see you tackling the job yourself instead of paying somebody to screw up your sled again but man....Good luck...Lol. Any new videos of the sled after the break in phase?
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 9 жыл бұрын
Berry McKockener He obviously wasn't thinking straight there when he was talking about the brakes. Must have took a second before he thought it through. The rebuild turned out great and the sled is running great. I didn't get a lot of riding in last season but if you want to see a video of the sled at the end of last season, check this one out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obeJddGgybLUkac.html It has other stuff in there too. is there oil in the engine when you remove the head and cylinder?
@Paisteboy

@@Paisteboy alright thanks, and since its liquid cooled i should drain some of the coolant before removing the head amd cylindre right? Sorry for all the questions im pretty new at snowmobile and i am looking at rebuilding my 583
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 5 жыл бұрын
@@antonimallet225 Yes. draining the coolant is a good idea even though we may have not done it. I would drain the coolant if I had to do it again. We you go to refill the coolant when you are done you will need to burp the system to get the air out if the coolant lines. You may need to look up a video on that since i don't have one on that topic. Good luck.
