A Top Gear fanatic has completed the ultimate motor challenge - building a £5million supercar with scrap and spare parts. Amateur mechanic Jacek Mazur, 48, made his own replica McLaren F1 for just £20,000 - 250 times cheaper than the real thing. He even paid tribute to his favourite TV show by building a tiny rear seat for Top Gear co-host Richard Hammond. His previous projects have included building his own Lamborghini and a Porsche - but the British-designed McLaren F1 has been his 'ultimate' success. They can fetch unbelievable sums and in August 2013 one sold for a staggering £5.1million at classic car auction Gooding & Company. All are kept at his own garage in Zabrze, Poland.

For all the haters (especially to the guy who used the Rolex example!) - Are you kidding me?! This guy just BUILT a car from scratch! Took him 8 years to build it, and you're bitching about how fake it looks? Its not like he's buying a cheap knock-off. And he's an amateur mechanic! So unless you can build something, say a car, shut the hell up and just marvel at what he has done. He built a sports car. BUILT. Good Day :)

In few years nobody will give a fuck, the frame would have rusted out and probably somebody will end up buying it for the engine to put it into something else. Back to my original point I wanted to make. McLaren F1, China, Rolex etc...if we human beings put all the effort to create something unique, it will end up a)better b)cheaper c)less time to make. I always said this, if China put half the effort into making their own product instead of replicate something, I will be 100% converted buyer. I will buy all their shit. But because people like you jizz over Rolex and McLaren1, you want the "real deal", you want the overhyped, overpriced product, so a no name chinese watch running identical rolex parts and maybe even real gold is still not good enough in your book. And we go back all the way to square, REPLICA!

It seems the youtube community is not very happy with his countach anyway, the lines are too off for their taste.

+HenryMania wow, you are truly a troll and hater. Did I once mention in my original post about the make of the car? no. I think it marvelous that this guy built a car, period. In that process, made it look pretty, sounds pretty good too, and goes pretty fast. So unless you can make something better, and in your case, something original, I suggest you sit back and think about what it takes to build a car and this guy did it all. I think that's pretty amazing.

***** He might have build that before the Internet was so widely available. Back in the days pictures weren't so easy to source, as were dimensions. Most people took model cars for getting the dimensions... so when you already had a badly proportioned model. One reason why an early replica can look wrong porpotioned. If you use an existing car as a base for your replica, you might also have to rescale some proportions to make the car fit to the base... ...aside from the Countach being a bit weird dimensioned, it looks very properly made.

The McLaren really is on spot, the Countach isn't that good, but probably one of his first builds. He can actually be very proud of himself for that work, insane.

McLaren has the BMW v12 engine. It`s almost free to buy secondhand, but you still need to tune it up... This replica car does not look that good either.

Finally someone who can make a decent replica inside and out, to build this on your own without the proper tools that the actual supercar companies use is impressive, it takes something special to build something like this from scratch for it to look good and sound good too

+TIMEtoRIDE900 Prepare to spend the next 10 years getting it registered to go on the road, and your wife will almost certainly leave you when you have to sell your house. You don't just make a car, it's an extremely complicated process which involves much more than simply building a means of transport. And that's if a millionaire decides to build one, building a supercar on a budget without any previous car building experience is the fastest way to indebt you for the rest of your life.

Best thing about it is that it doesnt look cheap and badly made like almost every self made car ive seen. There are some differences with the original but it really looks like a proper production car. Amazing

The older I get, the more I understand kit cars have, in essence, 2 purposes (not barring manufacturers like Factory Five, etc): A. Impress others by fooling them B. Have an immense respect for an unattainable automobile, so you decide to recreate it. This is the latter. It's a conversation starter. I doubt he's going around telling others it's real. He will know more about the mechanics than your typical cars and coffee attendee. Respect

That looks very good, to improve it aesthetically he should put some carbon fiber effect on the dashboard where the dials are & also he has tried to get a match set of wheels for the f1 but i think that the grey/graphite wheels of the F1 GTR would be a easier set to try & match, they would also stand out a bit less which would be of benefit.

Reminds me of the guy that built a Lamborghini Countach from scratch in the basement of his home and had to had the walls knocked out to get the car out. Even though it's a replica it's made of metal and it's beautiful And I heard it's up for sale now By the second owner.
