Bro this shit is actually mad helpful. I've found that the wakest part of my game rn is lack luster/lazzy recovery when nervous. I think having this in mind will help a lot :)

I get so much reward out of airdodge recoveries. Doing them too much gets you punished hella hard, but if you know exactly how high you need to be to airdodge above ledge and grab at just the right timing with fast fall and without you add a whole other mix up to your recovery. Mix them with good drifts and you'll sneak past so many edgeguards.

This is probably the biggest thing I took from your videos years ago and it was a game changer. My opponents get annoyed because they can't edgeguard me easily. Happy to revisit the theory again in this new version. Keep it up! Your videos are awesome!

Great video! I definitely do option 4/5, and 2 on like FD and fountain, but rarely the true sweet spot - so I'll go for that more. One thing I'll add though is that the low and away sweet spot is an execution test in itself. Maybe not as hard as teching, but definitely a thin margin between going too low and dying or going too high and getting hit.

Hey PewPewU, been a fan since the old days of PPUniv. I was wondering with your recent interest in Melee related content (a few new YT updates and a feature on Radio Melee!), are you considering potentially re-entering the competitive scene? No worries if you don't want to answer publicly/no pressure or anything! Thank you for the new content!

@@PewPewUSmash honestly not too sure, but I'll write a couple suggestions here. 1. perhaps a doubles comms guide/overview. How often should you be talking in game, and what specific things should each teammate be calling out. (i.e, what does the aggressor call out vs the support). also what situations should each teammate just know what to do without calling anything (edge guarding for example). 2. maybe a general doubles neutral guide. For example. which characters should be focused down and how best should you position relative to your teammate to achieve that. 3. bread and butter team combos. also maybe some unique situations (like the marth grab fox dtilt wobble) or character specific combos that you've discovered over the years. but basically anything would be awesome since most people are doubles noob

This is also one of my strongest points as a player. It feels good to have a very strong and natural recovery mixup game as Marth.

Wanted to point out the MOST important part of recovery Looking at your opponent while recovering. Most people try these sweetspots but dont look at their opponent. More often than not, your opponent is letting you onstage FOR FREE. IN other words, there is no reason to play this 1-5 mixup game if your opponent is so shit, that they arent even edgeguarding in the first place Look at ur opponents while recovering :D

I miss a lot of basic tech in some situations. Meaning getting hit and knocked down. Feel like I'm either too early or too late. Other times it's like this is easy why won't it work the other times. I'm having similar issues with the hitlag on airborne enemies with my Falco cancel shine jump aerials.

very informative thanks! so how do you cover the low and away and the high and away options as falco?
@PewPewUSmash
@PewPewUSmash Жыл бұрын
High and away as Falco is just about not swinging immediately. High and away beats downsmash, but it loses to ledge grab, late f smash, late dair too due to you having enough time to react. Low and away is just about doing a late ledge grab so you can either roll or attack with a ledgehop option

What do you think about the marth recovery option that mew2king went for often (and we see zain do as well from time to time) of very early up b with the intention of hitting the opponent before they expect it? Also I just want to say that your recovery is so well known that I played against someone for the first time a few years back, and when I did a true sweetspot he immediately knew I had been watching my pewpewuniversity.
@PewPewUSmash
@PewPewUSmash Жыл бұрын
Recovery in of itself is % dependent in many ways. Like you said, there's aiming at the edgeguarder with your recovery when they're at high %, there's CC %s, there's also different ledge stand/roll/getup attack at 100%+. It's a nuance I didn't want to get into with this video. But tl;dr having that in your bag is so important. Absolutely necessary
