Are any of these compatible with transparent backgrounds for or come with transparency film options?

From my research, I came to the conclusion that all the Zink printers make junk prints, and haven't read anything good about the print quality of the HP Sprocket in particular. Also, because Zink use heat, the batteries usually only last around 10 prints. The dye sublimation printers, like the Canon Selphy, produce the best quality, but also only prints around 10 prints per charge. Except the large Selphy, which is mains powered. The Instax crush blacks and blow highlights somewhat from what I read, but the battery lasts for around 100 prints, and next to the dye sublimation, produce the best prints. If only they made an Instax Wide printer.

Agreed. Dye Sub is far superior in image quality, detail and longevity. Zink just happens to be slightly more convenient for consumers and easier for manufacturers.

when you said “10 years of quality” is that about the photos? i have heard the zinc photos you print out will eventually fade and i dont like that, so i am looking for a portable printer that will print photos that will not totally fade away in a couple years..

Hi yes, these are what the manufacturers rate the Zink prints for. I don't exactly know how they go about testing this, as this is a rather new technology to market. But, the claim their fade resistant. But, if that's a fear, consider getting a Dye Sublimation printer instead like the Canon QX10.

why is is the kodak smile ranked lower than canon ivy and hp sprocket? Would you say that instax films are pricier than other films? I'm trying to figure out which to buy while getting what I pay for... I was also wondering are the films used for instax printers the same as the ones for the instax cameras? Thanks :) Have a nice day~

Hi, well fundamentally, both the Ivy and the Sprocket are essentially the same device. Both printers offer similar functionalities, form factors, and they both use 2 x 3 inch Zink adhesive backed paper. So from a quality and a technical standpoint, it's a tie. Our main decision factor for organizing this post ultimately came down to which was most popular. The HP Sprocket wins the popularity content by a long shot. And it's an unbelievably popular choice amongst the industry. As far as Zink working in Instax, yes. The 2 x 3 inch paper works in any compatible Zink device to our knowledge. So if the Instax camera takes Zink paper, then it will work. Granted, I don't recalled there being many Instax branded camera's offering Zink, as most use Fujifilm propriety brand. But the Polaroid and Kodak instant cameras will work. Also of note, each brand offers their own proprietary version of it, which may have tweaks to change the final rendering. But, they will function across all devices.

I just returned the Kodak Smile I got for Christmas. The paper jammed, blue lines appeared in the middle of the picture when printed, and you really need high resolution pics to obtain a good print.

Can any kind of Zink paper be used on the HP sprocket or does it have to be HP?

Hi, any 2 X 3 Zink paper will work. It doesn't have the be the HP branded one.

HP Sprocket 2nd Edition at number one? no way... they also discontinued it. What about Kodak Mini 3?!

Hi we haven’t review the Mini 3. So no comment. But it uses a new generation of dye sublimation technology, so i can imagine it’d be good.

Hi. HP sprocket app no longer has enable reveal. Does this mean we are no longer able to use augmented reality

Hi your best bet is the Fujifilm INSTAX Share SP-3. There you get Instax film rather than Zink, which will last longer.

Yeah Amazon is having stocking issues. I'd say look at other retailers for the time being or shop for a used one.

No. We haven’t taken a look at any Xiaomi products outside of their drones. But, we will in due time.

Hi Isabella, what you'll want instead is an Instant Camera, not an Instant Printer. Theres plenty of option that print photos with or without sticky backing. You can find some options here if you want: photographypx.com/best-instant-cameras/

Hi DaRin, the Retro 3 is also a good option yes. And it's a good release from Kodak if you want the 3x3 square prints that it produces rather than the standard 2x3 inches.

Yes. The 2nd generation Sprocket is an excellent printer. HP's added some nice additions with this update, and it's easily the most popular instant printer on the market right now.

Hi no. As we go around and do updates to our top ten lists, we consider all of the newest options on the market, then re-adjust from there. The number #1 option is always relative to the market and which offer the most value for dollar given their price/features.

Well, both printers use different printing techniques. The XQ10 uses Dye-Sublimation, which usually offers better overall print quality. But the HP uses Z-ink paper, which is faster and cheaper to print. They both also have different sizes photos, which may or may not be a deal-breaking factor for you depending on how you plan on using these printers. 2x3 prints are great for portraits, while the square prints are better for landscapes or lifestyle shots. But that's what I would say are the real differences, otherwise both are mostly the same at the end of the day.
