@RogerF
@RogerF 3 жыл бұрын
I think you’ll really like the Storm Vector. It’s a lot shorter than the Makara but also tougher with the 1/4” spine. It can do machete tasks and heavy duty tasks all the same with a great sheath to keep it safe. You’ll have some grand adventures with this. Don’t forget your toque and a two-four. Thanks for watching!

Nice knife, and I agree that the rear grip position on the handle is short, particularly when wearing lined gloves in winter. Multi-grip handles seem to be tough to get the ergonomics sorted to fit a good range of hand sizes though apparently, I am one of the lucky ones that the Terava Scrama suits my hands very well with and without gloves. I got to try this at a recent gathering in Ontario, Canada. I had brought a Nepalese kukri as my "big steel" and after 4 days, my takeaway was that what one did better than the other, it did CONSIDERABLY better than the other. In the end, I would score the TOPS at 30-35 with the remaining points (65-70) going to the kukri as an overall winner. Still, this is a nice option for fans of big blades, provided your glove size is a medium to low side of large.
@RogerF
@RogerF 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I love the rest of the handle, it’s just that rear grip that bugs me. It’s meant to be a chopper so that rear position should be perfect. Oh well, at least the other grips are comfortable. The knife is still a success in my eyes. I also own a Terava Skrama. Love that thing!

Normally I'd say that machetes make piss poor defensive weapons, but I may have to make an exception for this one. Seeing someone wield this would be incredibly intimidating.

Yeah up swept blades are terrible for slashing. The seax tip is biting hard from the start and even dumb bad guys can do that math.

@@RogerF I lived in Indonesia where every house have machete for work or defense (we never use axe except for chopping big firewood log). We called it parang or golok. I saw you kinda struggle to chopped down the tree and big log. I think it's because you don't know the technique yet. If you know you can easily chopping that tree with only 7 or 10 chops especially with that beast knife. Btw we already use that model of knives similar to strom vector since hundreds years ago, we called it parang/golok Pattimura
@RogerF
@RogerF Жыл бұрын
@@infoperang4054 What kind of technique are you referring to? Those trees were tough frozen oak.
@infoperang4054
@infoperang4054 Жыл бұрын
@@RogerF yeah, i never cut frozen wood before, there's no winter in Indonesia 😅 However it's kinda complicated to explain my point because my English is poor 😅 Easy way to cut down the tree is first chop must be deep horizontal cut and then diagonal cut to open it. Do it 2 or 3 times then star to chop other side of the tree (opposite direction). 3 or 4 chop and gravity will do the rest 😅 You will understand if you used to cut bigger tree using chainsaw. Btw the way you hold the machete to chopping will drain your stamina faster. Don't hold it to steady just swing it loose and let the weight of the machete do the rest. If you don't understand what i'm saying just watch the guy from condor knives who explained better way to hold machete. He explain it better than me. I used to cut down the forest for plantations like hundreds meters square full of thick bushes and small trees, if i hold the machete like you did, man i would easily exhausted 😅 Hope you understand my point, sorry for my poor english 😅
