Why Orthodox Tewahedo Churches have Tabot

Tabot is an ark or a case to hold Sellat or the tablets of the Law. “He took the Testimony and put it into the ark” Exodus 40:20. it is made from acacia wood; two cubits shall be its length, a cubit its width, and a cubit and a half its height. And its over laced by Gold.
Tselat is plural geez word. It is the tablets that Moses wrote the ten commandments on. “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.” Exodus 34:27

We don’t disregard the sanctity and true nature of our sister church’s whether they have been granted the gift of the ark or not

Within the Ethiopian church, who has the authority to create the new tabots for consecrating a new church? I imagine it must be a special kind of artisan. Genuinely curious about who has the job of crafting tabots.

“And when you have multiplied and been fruitful in the land, in those days, declares the Lord, they shall no more say, “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭ We are not supposed to make the tabot, God no longer dwell on anything only in human heart, therefore no point of having a tabot. As a Christian we are under the new covenant that is Christ.

Please our brother near the holy Orthodox tewahdo church and ask every thing what you want to understand. because there no thing to do with out the command of God and the holy book in old and new testaments because the first holy oriental churches directed only our God holy spirit and nothing add that come from there own mind and this world knowledge. Because the head of the holy Orthodox tewahdo church is our God and lord Jesus christ.

You are contradicting your earlier saying by the later one. Initially, you said we are the dwelling place and later we need a tablet/replica for there is ark in heavenly Jerusalem (which is Tabot).

I have a question. How could the true ark have been brought to Ethiopia around the time of the reign of Solomon, when the prophets speak of the ark in Jerusalem as if it were still the true one, upon which God's presence dwells? For instance, Ezekiel's vision of the divine glory leaving the temple. There is also 2 Maccabees (of the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and other Oriental Orthodox churches) which claims that Jeremiah hid the ark before Jerusalem got sacked, and this is why it went missing.

According to our traditions, Solomon built another ark in order to hide what had actually happened.

When exactly was the tabot tradition introduced to orthodox tewahdo church.......as I heard it from different sources, the myth of tabot was introduced in the 12th century by Solomonian dynasty to legitimize their ascendancy to power claiming they are the descendant of king Solomon and falsely claiming they inherited the tabot from king Solomon.

I have a question, in one of your earlier videos you said no matter who you are you are one with Christ when you are in the church, does the same count for LGBTQ and will God except you into heaven if you are part of it or support it?

Hello, I know this is an old comment but if you are still wondering, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 it states that those who are unrighteous will not go to heaven. Here are the verses: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ (I put “homosexual” in full caps so you could see it easier) Simply put, someone in the LGBTQ community would not go to heaven. Of course, that does not mean God hates them. Homosexuality is a sin because God made man (Adam) and woman (Eve) to be together in marriage, not man and man or woman and woman. Also, since God hates sin because it is evil, even if you aren’t doing the sin yourself, you shouldn’t support it. BUT, do not hate those in the LGBTQ community. Love others as Jesus Christ said (John 15:12).

No,We worship God only. We are not worshiping saints. But we venerate saints. We venerate saints because it is biblical.
