If Dr. Ramani isn't who she says she is, I might actually cry. I love her. You know what? I wouldn't care. She knows what she's talking about, and she's helped me many times.

This episode really triggered me, but not because I am in the entertainment industry. I worked in the IT / Financial departments in major corporations, and the abuse, plus the subsequent enabling behaviors of the Human Resource departments is quite pervasive and applauded.

I was tormented by my employers at a woman-owned and operated fitness wear company in the East Bay in California and the perpetrators were women. Among other offenses, I was cornered, screamed at, and spoken to like a dog by the second in command. When I requested a meeting about it with the owner the next day, I was called by the offender to come on up to the owner's office in a friendly voice. There was the owner and the offender in her office. The owner cut me off in mid sentence and shut down the conversation, proceeding to trash me instead. Then I was promptly fired as the offender smirked. I went to the police and to the labor commissioner with no success. I contacted a local paper and they told me that they had heard similar accounts and wanted to do a story on the company about it but nothing followed the testimony I shared with them. Years later, they were successfully sued by multiple employees but they are still very much in business with accolades from the media.

Sarah Ann, thank you sooo much for mentioning the similarity in trauma between your experience with HW and your experience 2 months prior. I have always wondered what someone would say who has experienced both types of assault. My own experiences were repeated, but never fell within the bounds of rape, sometimes not even involving any physical contact. And to hear how you both talked about the resulting trauma being so similar was soooooo reparative. Two months is also not a long period of time at all, so I can only imagine the compounding effect for you. And your pulling back for a time to find safety makes all the sense in the world. Thank you for sharing your story and for the work you do. I really hope it continues and ripples out to other industries and spreads the world over.

Thank you both so much for this content. I really like the idea of having trauma experts working in different facilities, jobs, institutions (such as schools) which can make it easier for people/kids to come forward and talk about abuse they experienced in a safe space and get the support they need and who knows, maybe some of the work can prevent possible abuse in the future. Love your bravery.

Yes sadly society does treat sexual assault victims like they are the perpetrator they don't deserve that it's a big reason why many rape victims don't report what happened to them

@10:25 that means pretty much all of the female population, who have to deal with such harassment almost on a daily basis, got ill with mental illness and chronich diseases and career failures etc. And NO, it's not the same as rape. Not saying that i'm defending that piece of... but i'm rather saying that, if you'd pick any girl/woman, she might have at least a story like this or even worse. The only difference is that they cannot sue their abusers and ask for indemnification

And that's truly eye-opening... what's more is the realization that some people who are covering up, downplaying, dismissing, or denying this behavior and abuse are sometimes victims themselves.

Scott Peterson in the death of Laci Peterson and the unborn child - I read Scott’s half sister’s book. My takeaway was that Scott the golden child - got away with smaller things his entire life. Why would he not get away with this?

he was there in his underwear at the front door, that would've been my cue to say oh, I will wait outside while you get dressed. She is not a strong personality, and I think that was sensed.

She was a YOUNG girl who just moved to New York!! It's not like she was the only victim of HW, he held power and position, he prayed on women's vulnerability !! If she was brought up to respect authority or elders, it's understandable. Judgemental people bring shame to victims, it's no wonder many victims won't come forward.

No one really knows for sure what they'll really do in a situation. Training doesn't always predict it, either. Soldiers in combat will be unable to pull the trigger. Hardened cops might vomit at a particularly gruesome crime scene. And every actor, no matter how talented, has bombed at least once.

the different responses to situations like this are fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. we don't get a choice on which one our body decides to do. it's a trauma response. many people when put in extreme/unexpected situations slip into a dissociative state where they're basically no longer in their body. it's horrible. if you've never experienced that, ur very lucky, but there's no need to invalidate other people who aren't so lucky. their automatic response is usually to blame themselves, & they don't need any other voices validating that thought because it's not true. next time if you don't wanna watch a video, just don't watch it. don't leave a comment like this. especially on a video like this where victims are gathering to heal. such heartless behavior..

That's a good point. The rich and powerful receive the benefit of the doubt more than the average person. If it had been an average guy answering the door in his underwear, it's not likely that she would have entered the house. Sarah does, however, make a lot of good points in this interview.

I'm not defending Harvey Weinstein, the amount of people that came forward shows high probability he was a sexual predator and abusive. However, I also was keeping a lense on that was looking for deception as well. She stated that she had been raped just weeks before, this seems a little off that she wouldn't have been on high alert with him opening the door in his underwear. Unless she was desperate for employment maybe. She also didn't mention it to the Nanny agency? I've been defending Charlie Ely, for these exact reasons people make for this person's lack of response, and I'm willing to bet few here in the comments would do the same for Charlie Ely.
