The National Weather Service now says the tornado that hit Greenfield Tuesday is rated an EF4 with peak winds reaching between 175-185 miles an hour.
The NWS in Des Moines initially gave it at least an EF-3 rating while crews were still surveying damage. On Thursday, NWS says survey teams identified EF4 damage in Greenfield and southern Adair County. The rating is still based on preliminary damage survey results.
