Toro 22in Recycler Lawn Mower Unboxing & Assembly

5 жыл бұрынIt's Springtime and that means it's time to cut the grass. So, after a lot of online research, I headed out to my local lawn and garden store and purchased a mower. Toro has long been the most recognized name in residential lawn mowers. And, the Toro 22 inch low wheel Recycler was one of the best I researched, for the price. At just under $300 at the time of this video, this looks to be a good buy. However, I have never walked out of the store with a lawnmower in a box before. So, here is the assembly. Enjoy.

I’d have to disagree that the toro quick start guide is good. If it had some words it may be. But it’s just a ton of small pictures, which I don’t like.

I wouldn't listen to the mom and pop big box store associates and sales people. I would definitely change the oil after the initial 5 hours of run time on the engine to clean the metal shavings and castings out of the fresh engine. I use amsoil synthetic sae 10W-30 small engine 4 stroke oil and run nothing but trufuel 4 cycle engine ethanol - free engineered fuel. I enjoyed the review on the toro recycler it's a well made beast.

I bought the same exact mower 2years ago and I have not changed or added oil to it all. Stills starts first pull and runs fine.

James Sanders I’ve never added or changed oil in a mower before.. and for me it was always other parts that would break so I would replace the whole thing.

A few suggestions for those who bought this lawn mower: 1. I pulled it out through the side by just cutting the box and that was easier for those who can't pick up a lot. 2. The instructions with the pictures are ridiculous. Just ignore them. 3. For the pull cord, you have to push all the bars down and then you can easily pull it up. 4. Put all the oil that comes with it in it. 5. I'm just not putting the catcher on because it really doesn't do well.

What is this thimble shaped black rubber piece for? Does the batter plug in supposed to be covered back after charging with the white one? I forgot. I wish they would give written descriptions with the pictures!!

Sorry you are having trouble installing the pull cord. Yours must have been a different model as the pull cord on this one came installed already.

@@summertimeken yes after reading the first sentence i notice it said to pour entire content of bottle in the machine at initial start up. I guess it pays to read lol

The bottle is also the one included in another engine with slightly more oil. Manu says to a specific line and the bottle overfill it.

The white catcher does not stay on. I took mine back as soon as I got it assembled and realized the grass catcher would not stay on.

The bag is confusing because there are 2 holes it looks like the frame of the bag will slide through. Do not use these holes. Those two pegs on the frame of the bag rest on top of a U shaped bracket just above the 2 holes. I was fighting attaching the bag for about 30 minutes until i figured this out.

I wouldn't open the box by sliding the utility knife across it, since the mowing bag is right there.

OK....the bag will attach by lifting the forward bar of the bag..very high....just forward of the knob-tightening bolt is an 'indention' or 'cradle'....slip the bag-bar over the cradles and drop in. The bag sits/tilts up a lot...but it does work.

@@KimMcLeanLogan Or....stop the video at exactly 3:25. Look at his left hand, then the large knuckle on his left hand....then 1/2 inch below his knuckle...you see the black frame? It appears to look like a curve? Look directly across to the other side...the same curve is there. The bar from the catcher sits in these 2 curves...perfectly. Its a loose fit, but it does work well.

@@dhellwitit I am not sure what you mean. I did not have to deal with a 'seal' of any kind. The bag-catcher just 'rests' on the curve. No seal.

Normally an entire 18 ounce bottle.

Good video. I wouldn't buy unless it had a Honda motor on it, Plus I only use Amsoil Synthetic Commercial Small Engine oil in all my mowers. I also prefer commercial NGK spark plugs in my mowers unless not available. I have used E3 sparkplugs in my riding mower because the commercial plugs were not available.

@@norge696 Agree with you. I have a John Deere 14pz of early 1990's vintage with a Briggs 190 cc. Still runs like a top. According to Indiana DIY it should not be running so great for so long.

Darlene Barth it was easier than ever when I realized where it went because it was way different then my last mower and this one had two holes for no reason I though it would go in but wouldn’t reach

The grass catcher would not stay on. I took mine back because of that one thing.

@@davefaust11 - if there is some trick to getting the catcher to stay on TORO should let their customers in on the trick. I returned my mower immediately after I realized the catcher wold not stay on. And I will never buy another TORO mower.

there are levers next to each wheel with notches. We will post a video soon on how to adjust the deck.

i am so glad you asked this i have the same mower from home depot and my handle is very low. i have been scratching my head for a year now looking for an adjustment to raise it. but there isn't one at all. If anyone has the answer i would greatly appreciate it. i am very close to buying another mower to save my back.

Why wouldn't you have to change the oil? It would get dirty over time, just like any other mower.

These air cooled engines consume enough oil when running that just topping it off each time is plenty. However, I would still change it yearly.

Not changing the oil is just stupid. There is aluminum shavings from the manufacturing process that needs to be removed. Oil should be changed a few hours after use then every 50 hours.

Actually it won't blow up if you don't change it, but yes, you do have to always add oil.

all oil gets dirty at some point in time, by adding oil you’re not getting rid of the dirt inside the engine so it’ll wear the inside out. an oil change basically drains all the dirty oil out and put new clean oil in. they put that you don’t have to change the oil on the box so they want your engine to wear and you’ll buy a new mower.
