Toro continues to revolutionize the Snowblower industry with the introduction of their all electric 2 stage snowblower. Utilizing the same 60v Max batteries as their yard tools, you no longer need to let your batteries sit over the winter. Whether you need an electric snow shovel, single stage, or two stage blower, Toro has you covered.
#toro #snowblowers #electric
NO more runs to the gas station, NO more oil changes, and NO more clogged carburetor if you forget to drain the fuel out of it.

I have the Toro 60V mower and leaf blower. But last fall I bought the Ego snowblower. It worked great! Time will tell but I give Ego the win with the snowblower. Two motors versus one motor on old technology.

The "old technology" drivetrain is proven to last decades with minimum maintenance and every local dealer can service it. Meanwhile, the self propel motor went out in my neighbor's EGO mower after about a year and had to be shipped off for two months to get fixed. Had it been out of warranty it likely would have just been junked. I'll take reliable and easily serviced "old" technology any day.

Sounds like you have the E24 I return that one the battery's only lasted about 30 minutes with 3 in of snow three car driveway small front and small backyard. Also I assume the E24 came with automatic steering differential means that you can do a zero turn in one spot with the E24 you cannot it was misleading on home depot's website probably not their fault. Home Depot was great in the return I had to run to truck only cost me $28 including gas. The E26 has hand warmers, automatic turning differential, in the bigger 7.5 amp batteries. The claims that the E24 will do 24 parking spots in the E26 will do 30 in 10 in of snow IS A COMPLETE LIE NO ONE'S EVEN COME CLOSE TO THAT MAYBE ONE THIRD. If you get a small driveway like me then they E 26, E24 should be fine, get a big storm with bigger property you'll be running out of both batteries in 30 minutes and then waiting 3 and 1/2 hours to charge again people have done this it took them all day to do something It would have taken the gas equivalent 1 hour!! It's a great product works just as good as the gas equivalent Maybe even more torque but the runtime is horrible when it's in a tough situation when it matters. So I purchased the E26 after returning the E24 did not like how it turned at all It was actually difficult. Had to turn the gears on going a circle. I have small property not going to work for me. The e26 even though it weighs about 15 lb more at 186 versus 172 is much easier to maneuver because of turning differential.. And no joysticks.. All done by gear. Awesome.. Just mad at Toro for being so disingenuous getting people to buy these thinking it does all those cars and it doesn't. They probably use sand to test it out not real world situations.. Kind of sucks but it's the best of its kind out there so. It's just the nature of batteries they don't last long when you get to push them..

I was looking at this at Home Depot, looks like a solid machine. Interesting how the motor runs all the time, it sounds like what they've essentially done is kept the gas body and just made the whole engine a drop in part. Not a bad idea from a manufacturing standpoint. I was actually toying with electric swapping my Ariens and this is probably the approach I would have taken. Ended up going with the 80v Greenworks though since I already have lot of tools with that platform. Waiting for a decent snowfall so I can put it to the test. This winter has been weird, we had a decent storm in December and no snow since.

@@rogerwhiting9310 yup I go through that stuff regularly. It will throw that type of stuff at least 5 feet. If I go through too much of it it will stuff up the shoot if it's just sopping wet. I can usually make it clear itself by hitting some powdery stuff so that is impressive. Where it struggles is if I have too little like an inch or less of slush. It just doesn't do much with it at that volume. But I think this is typical of any 2 stage snow blower.

Note: I refused to put any fuel that had ethanol in my small motors. I learned that the hard way after having the replace the carb on a riding mower. And I will drive the extra couple of miles to a station that sells gas that doesn't have ethanol in it. But on to the blower. I'm looking to buy one of these. I'm planning on the 24" model. The strange thing about that model. They only supply two 6kWh batteries with it and they got rid of the hand warmers. The 26" model is $200 more but I'm already a bit above what was supposed to be a hard stop on how much I was going to pay to replace my blower. Now I just have to wait for Toro to release the darn thing. The release date is Sept. 1st according to the Toro website.

I really think toro/ego should make their battery lawnmowers with bigger tires (or even a diff set for winter) and front snowblower attachments that easily hooks up and jobs like this, people would pay big money to be able to sit on a warm seat and get rid of snow. Its coming, but wish that option was here already. So easy for them to do.

Just tried out my 26 60V Max snow thrower....I would say it was somewhere between impressed and disappointed. I have 3 batteries 7.5's and the snow was heavy Buffalo lake effect stuff. However I have a 926 Ariens with double belts on the auger and also a brand new 30" Toro 302 cc engine. The gas engines launched snow easily twice as far. I would say the Toro Electric was throwing the snow about 20 feet while the Gas blowers were launching 40' +. In that regards I was a bit disappointed. Run time with three batteries was about the same as one tank of gas. Impressed with how quiet it ran, and the lack of smelling like gas etc was nice. So for roughly 2k in cost, not sure if electric is there yet. I think it is going to save on gas over time as I went through 12 gallons of gas in the 7 foot snow event.
@plmn93
@plmn93 3 жыл бұрын
Looks pretty wet and heavy. Honestly I don't think my gas blower would throw that snow that well, even with a much larger impeller and auger. Don't really like having the motor run constantly, I would think an advantage of electric would be not having an impeller belt and friction disc to wear out. But on the other hand, this should be easy to re-power as technology progresses. We know everything but the batteries should last at least a couple decades. Time will tell, I guess. Thanks for the review.

It takes a lot of extra current or battery charge to bring an electric motor up to speed from a stopped condition. Having the motor idle takes much less in comparison. I’m thinking the batteries don’t need to be recharged as soon this way.

The drive engagement lever is basically like an on off switch. It’s not designed to slip like a clutch. And it only really jumps very quickly and lift the front of machine up if you’re in top gear. In the lower gears it’s pretty smooth.

So far, I have the 60v Mower (3 seasons), hedge trimmer (1 season) and just picked up the powered shovel (not used yet). The mower is very good. It doesn't mulch quite as well as its predecessor (Toro 6.5 recycler), however it is near enough to make no difference. I live in Wisconsin and we have some particular challenges in the winter. Mainly, how will this two stage handle >10" storms. We get at least 3 or 4 a year. How does it handle the massive pile at the end of the driveway after the trucks go through? I never see any of these reviews show that. I've had 6 foot plus piles of snow at the end of my driveway. My Ariens 6.5hp OHV powered snow blower has tackled these for the last 16 years. Will this Toro? If it can, then I'm all in, when my Ariens finally crosses the rainbow bridge. With that said, I really want to see one of these reviews show what happens at the end of the drive, after the trucks go through.

No big deal but I just thought I'd let you know the screws that hold the quick stick together and the cable on the quick stick ( they are backwards ) The threaded part should go the opposite way of the battery compartment. The flat part of the screw the head should be going towards the battery compartment. They say the reason for that is because when you open the battery compartment you want the battery compartment to hit the flat screw head rather than the threaded screw part because it'll crack or scratch the battery compartment If you open it up too hard. Just thought I'd give you that quick tip.

I've used the Toro 60V 2 stage for 4 snow storms (8 plows) now, and ever since you showed me how to slow it down, it has been a wonderful, powerful but easy to maneuver tool. I do notice that these days, it has a rattle when the auger is engaged and not under load. If so, I think it may be my fault, not Toro's fault, because I know it was adjusted really low to the ground from the factory, and I was too lazy to adjust it a little higher. As a result, I know I must have hit irregularities on the asphalt on my driveway and/or thrown gravel that got onto my driveway from the County trucks. Since the "non shear" bolt is so strong, I am wondering if my auger or exhaust chute splines may have gotten bent. It still throws snow effortlessly, and no rattles under load. My question is: Now that you have owned the Toro for awhile, and must have hit some gravel and perhaps bigger stuff, does your Toro make a rattling noise as well? And do you think I should troubleshoot it or just call it good until something worse happens? I know since you cannot hear the machine, it is hard to make a statement, but maybe you have had a similar experience .......

I actually don’t have this unit anymore because this was a pre-production prototype and it had to go back for liability purposes. They haven’t got me the production electric one yet but I should get it at some point. What I noticed is that because the electric motor so quiet you tend to hear a lot more or auger noise that you wouldn’t hear in a gas powered model. I would give it a good visual inspection and make sure everything is tight and if you don’t notice anything bent rubbing or lose you should probably be fine.

This is normal operation. If the motor is left running without the auger engaged, it will automatically shut down after about 45 seconds, followed by a short audible beep. To restart, just turned the key switch completely off then back on again, same as when you first start. This feature is documented in the newest version of the online operation manual.

Ego had only publicly available 2 stage cordless snowblower, which factored into my choosing an Ego mower over a Toro mower. Now I’m finding out due to these reviews popping up that that Toro has one. And now, even though these have been out in the field since February, the public has no idea about the Toro 2 stage. The other kicker on the mower side, is that the Super Recycler I was comparing against the Ego, has 2 speeds! And no advertising of that feature in any literature, site etc. Only once YT videos of Super Recycler appear does one find out about 2 speeds. Toro Marketing is 0 for 2 in my book. They should have BRAGGED HARD about 2 speeds on the Super Recycler. Crickets. And they should have put some info out there in the Winter when Ego came out with their 2 stage that they were going to have one too. I know, first world problems. But dammit, if their SR was advertised as 2 speeds, and I knew a 2 stage blower was on the way, I would have picked up the SR from Home Depot, knowing a snowblower might be next. Ugh.

I think ego is a pretty good brand but I feel like toro stuff tends to be a little more heavy duty when you compare apples to apples. Toro didn’t want the info on this revealed until now for the upcoming 21-22 winter I assume to ensure they would be able to get them out with all the supply chain issues.

@@WatsitTooyah What if I kept my charger(s) in the un-heated garage? What's the difference? You are right though... I just googled it: Lithium batteries rely on chemical reactions to work, and the cold can slow and even stop those reactions from occurring. ... Unfortunately, charging them in low temperatures is not as effective as doing so under normal weather conditions because the ions that provide the charge do not move properly in the cold weather.
@WatsitTooyah
@WatsitTooyah 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrMbaines13 Lithium batteries don't charge well at all below freezing temperatures. This is due to reduced diffusion rates on the anode. This results in plating and permanent degradation of the cell. Advanced chargers would need to heat the battery up before charging. Another option is to greatly reduce the charge rate but the charger would have to be capable of doing this.

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. kzfaq.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

I have a honda 2 stage and have often sheared the shear pins from dog toys or rocks when cleaning my yard for the dog to run around and do the bathroom thing. Yes, I’m a bit anal, I know. My question is: with out Toro using shear pins, what would happen in those similar situations? Hope you may have an answer. If you looked at other units such as Ego or /Ryobe why did you choose the Toro? Some of the machines have both wheels locked together on a single drive shaft so turning the machine becomes an effort. How is turning your Toro? Thanks for taking time to respond.

Toro claims that everything in the auger system has been hardened the point where if you hit something big enough to jam it that the engine will stall before it will bend any components. This was actually a demo unit that was pre-production toro gave me to do some testing on. what I like about this unit is it uses a lot of metal and a lot of Toros existing features. Some of the other ones seem kind of gimmicky and very plasticky and I’m not sure how they would hold up in more rigorous conditions. The drive system basically uses a small mechanical differential and it’s similar to a cars but obviously much more compact.

I bought this snowblower the day it became available, but was only able to use it a week ago for our first snowfall. Great machine, except, it is way too fast even in 1st gear. When it hits a chunk of ice or an irregularity in my asphalt, it throws the machine. Very hard to control. It looked like perfect speed in your video. You appeared to walk slowly, and small steps. I don't know if they changed the gearing in the production model. On high gear you'd have to nearly RUN.

@@EnthusiastsGarage really!? Where is the drive rod? If it is the rod that is connected to the left lever, doesn’t that just slip the clutch? Thanks
@EnthusiastsGarage
@EnthusiastsGarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@mwong000 No it doesn’t slip the clutch it change the distance in relation to the fly wheel. These units don’t have clutches you won’t damage anything. Essentially it’s that metal rod that is underneath the speed adjustment lever. You have to pull out that pin and turn the piece that connects it to the bottom of the lever clockwise to make it shorter.

@@EnthusiastsGarage That did it!!!! You are THE MAN. Thanks for your help. On an aside, if I barely engage the traction lever (on the far left), I can also slow it down without changing the auger speed/power. But, does that damage the machine?

@EnthusiastsGarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@mwong000 It’s not the worst thing to do but I try to avoid doing it because this is a friction disc transmission you’re basically dragging the tire on the engagement wheel sideways on the fly wheel.

Not at all what they say it can do on their web site. Can't compare it at all to my 8hp Toro gas blower I had before. Really disappointed with their false advertising. I barely finish my 6 car driveway with two 7.5 batteries before they die on me after a15 to 20cm snowfall. If your thinking of trading in your gas for a battery operated. Don't do it. You'll regret it.

First thing to break will be the cheap plastic cover for the battery. Next will be the cheap plastic gear under the shute directional control. Batteries will have to be kept inside or those who forget them will be swearing up and down. Unfortunately I sell these. Buy a gas powered blower and stay away from this thing it’s a turd. Might be a shiny turd but not for long. Last two years their products have been crap nothing but customer complaints and returns.
