Great place, very calm town, all families - not much leisure places (pubs, discos....) to go apart from restaurants, beach bars (nothing ostentatious) but friendly, cozy and not expensive. The beach is open sea water, noy a bay, so clean, and its is normally fairly calm. If you want to have a long night out just go down to TVieja , 10.mins in taxi and you'll find all you need....in other words at the Mata you don't suffer excess of people and you have everthing at your fingertips.😊

We lived in la mata (calla emprodoras) for 5 years they used to dump seaweed huge piles on the beach at the bottom of the road and boy did it stink!.we always had foot protection when walking towards guardamar because of used discarded syringes in the sand

Go further up towards Guardamar the sand dunes the beach there is incredible mate

yeah whats with the wind this summer. i am in estepona (near marbella) and it is like 20 to 30 degree hot with that wind. quite dangerous in the sea as well be careful swimming.
