Absolutely crazy vining roads in the lake district, I would say extreme lovers welcome! Hardknot and Wrynose pass spoils with stunning views and breathtaking twists.
Wrynose Pass is a mountain pass between the Duddon Valley and Little Langdale. There is a single-track motor road over the pass, which is one of the steepest roads in England, with gradients up to 1 in 3. The road continues over Hardknott Pass and on into Eskdale. At the top of the Wrynose Pass is the Three Shire Stone, marking the meeting point of the historic counties of Cumberland, Lancashire and Westmorland.

I love Hardknott Pass; the fort of Mediobogdum is of course one of the greatest locations within the Roman Empire. I drove the road many times before I passed my test and in snow it can be awesome - in the right vehicle of course. Ad altiora!

I enjoy watching hardknott pass videos, having done it myself in the wet about a year ago and realising first hand how steep it is. In a small car I’d say the only way is to keep it in first and try to keep moving, I was lucky I didn’t have to stop as with it being wet I think some of those corners would have been tricky!

I almost got stuck on there in the pitch black half 7 last night with no phone connection. It wasnt nice, i honestly think i will never drive that road again

Just done it in my 78bhp 1.4 Fiesta, I couldn't believe it actually made it there AND back (although the clutch did smell by the end)

Never looks as steep on camera but it is bloody steep, I drove it a few years ago in a Td5 Defender 90 I wouldn’t attempt it in the wet in a RWD car I think you’d lose traction on the tight corners. Well done 👍🏻🇬🇧

I bet your 90 didn’t have any issues getting up there. Did you drop it into low range or just keep It in high range?
