One of my favorite retro Survivor characters

"It wasn't the game I intended to play, it was the game that played me." Those words stuck with me. A game like Survivor, all of the planning goes out the window once you're on the island with 17 strangers.

I loved Twila. She could come across blunt and harsh, but this woman was as real as they come. Wish we had more ballsy players like her nowadays.

Twila remains one of the gutsiest women to ever play this game. I really hope we get her back for a legends season or a old school vs new school season.

Just rewatched Vanuatu and I ended up loving her just for never being anyone but herself. Her and Scout really don’t get a lot of credit.

Her performance at the FTC always breaks my heart.

I've been trying to find a full video of Twila's final words to the jury. It's one of the most impactful moments of the game to me that I've seen.

I am generally Team Eliza, but I have to respect Twila for being entirely herself the whole way through. I wonder if she even went into FTC trying to be truly strategic or if she was being like “this is me, this is what I did, vote me or don’t.” Like she seems to have applied to start with for the experience I reckon.

Twila would've been a great returnee, but the lack of returnee seasons between seasons 9-20 made it hard. It's hard to argue with Micronesia (because it was an awesome season), but if it had been a full blown All-stars 2.0 Twila stood a good chance there.

People may have already forgotten this, but Twila went on to compete with Jonny FairPlay on Fear Factor. It’s hilarious to watch and y’all should see it.

I just watched Vanuatu for the first time and Twila is definitely my favorite character. She's not the traditional female archetype. She played the game hard and even though she made mistakes, I know she would've done much better the second time around

Twila is very underrated, the tribal that Chad got voted out when Ami called bullshit on Twila and when Jeff said we’ll see if you make it to the Final 2 if you’re right. That was foreshadowing for Twila to make it to that Final Tribal Council.

Twila should be on a Old School vs New School season. Or Second Chances 2. Or Heroes vs Villains 2.

I am a fan of Twila's and thought that she should have won. She was never in the sorority female group but was able to stay in the game working very hard. She had a strong personality but was true to herself. I don't know that Twila would have acted differently but Chris set the final up by telling her that he was not taking anything off of anyone that that Twila should not either. Basically Chris did the opposite of what he said.

Twila is an interesting character and a pretty smart strategist, but I think her personality is too abrasive to ever win, certainly not in Vanuatu.

The first *Real* female Villain. She probably would have won if she was apologetic at tribal council.

Twila was amazing

Twila is one of my all time top favourite Survivor players ever. Her and Scout fucking ROCKED this season, and were the only reason I watched it through to the end. Twila deserved that win way more than Chris did. He was handed the million simply for being the last man standing. If Twila had been a man, she would have been applauded for her ambitious, determined, ballsy, take-no-shit attitude, slapped on the back for her courageous gameplay, and handed a check for a million bucks. Plenty of men have played games like that - and sleazy and trashy to boot - and have still won at the end. Why? Because when men behave that way, it's cast in a positive light. When women do anything that even remotely resembles ambition or aggression, they're viciously dragged and publicly humiliated. Particularly so back in the early 00's, but even still nowadays. If Twila had been cast 15 seasons later, her outcome would have been very different. Victim of the times. These old Survivor seasons are literally defined by sexism, misogyny, racism, and classism (can't fucking BELIEVE they actually cast the only Black guy as "the angry Black guy" - wow.). The newer seasons are getting better at hiding it, but these older one are fucking heart-breaking to watch. Every woman on this season was treated with this same sexism, both from the male competitors and Jeff Probst, the crew, and the editing process. To be completely honest, I can't believe Survivor hasn't pulled these early seasons from the internet archives. They are SO fucking awful, and they say a lot about what this show really is and where its roots really lie. TL;DR: I ❤you Twila (and Scout)!

I get why she didn't come back for HvV, but it would have been cool to see her and coach and Jerry. I was just glad to not see Aimee...she was my least favorite on that cast.

I love twila she is so funny and such a strong woman. We would totally be great friends. Actually.. she would probably not like me lmao or at least be mildly annoyed by me in general 😂 that's okay though I still love her

She was definetly unapologetically herself, and was entertaining. but her harsher personality and dislike of the woman(outside of one) really started to effect her game as she quickly didn't like the younger woman. She did seem to realize this wanting to take out Amy, cause she was probably on the bottom of the womans alliance with Scout. But maybe it was always gonna be that way, the younger woman would stay with the younger woman regardless, but she didn't help her case by being so abrasive to the younger woman, that's for sure. Add on her beginning to bully Eliza and breaking her promise on her son and it really tanked her game if she even got to the end. And Chris took advantage with half truths, lies and just sitting and watch the drama explode the alliance to break them up and weasel his way into the end. I think that Chris just got to the win simply cause he was the underdog as soon as the men started getting voted out. he managed to hang in there, the woman even making the mistake to let him stay one more time cause they got sad for his wife and turning on eachother before he was gone. To keep your cool, and weasel your way through it all, honestly regardless if it was underhanded it's still impressive. Where as Twila kinda burned her bridges along the way. She beat the younger woman with little to no grace and pissed them off, bullied Eliza so that was gonna hurt her in votes too and didn't even apologize when she had the chance. Chris tried his best to stay on peoples good side by atleast being nice even when he was stabbing them in the back. But Twila kinda was resentul of Amy in power and talked shit when she could and as soon as she was in control of the game with Scout she to became a bit of a b*tch to Eliza. So I think she just rubbed too many people the wrong way and alongside Chris' bullshitting(even in final tribal) and underdog status, he kinda earned it over her in the Juries eye.(And probably out of resentment they voted for Chris too) To her credit though she promised on her son, who is alive and everyone knows it, where as Johnny swore on his supposedly dead grandma to five people. I know at this time this was still a game where honesty and stuff is valued over deciept by a mile, but it's not that big of a deal to me when people do this 'swear on someone alive' it just comes off to me as just a way to say "I promise" but Twila clearly feels bad so it means alot to her. But I can reliably believe she said that in truth, but was swayed after and saw a course that took her to the end, which it did. So I can't totally blame that move. Sad to see everyone dog pile her over a choice of words, but it is what it is. And Atleast she tried her best to take it back and apologize in her final speech and clearly beat herself up about it alot. Also am I mistaken, Twila and Chris have the same proffession? If so, what are the odds?

I feel like I'm going crazy. Why do people love her so much? She was such a bully on the show. And her "I'm not like other girls" schtick was so annoying. Do people not see how awful she treated other people? Like sitting in a hammock and laughing at Eliza, calling her childish while behaving like high school mean girls with Scout. People call her honest but she was just an asshole.

She was wrong not to go to Sarge personally and ask him. If you want the truth, call it out into the open

Twila is a great example of someone who was in the wrong “school” of survivor. Most juries post season 20 I believe would’ve respected her gameplay, and agreed that they simply “got got”. It’s hard to relate to these juries from old seasons who are upset just because they were lied to 🙄

She maybe has the right mentality to play the game and she is a interesting character, but if you ask me her social game was terrible! Not my favorite player but definitely not my least favorite.
