After seeing Dreamz's story video, he really played one of the most wild games at times. A lot of "Villain/Smart/Dumb" character moments and strategic moments throughout the game.

The fact that so many jurors in final tribal were so mean to Dreamz but Yau, the guy who was probably hurt most by Dreamz’ actions in the game (I mean Yau lost a CAR) was the kindest person to him

Dreamz really should have stuck with the Four Horsemen. He had a better chance against them than Earl or Yau-Man. I also thought it was hilarious that after he betrayed them, he asked Mookie and Alex why they don't hang out anymore, and Alex is just like, "Why do you think?" Dreamz had a very sympathetic story and a seemingly solid social game, but he destroyed his chances to win with that move.

I actually blame Mookie for what happened more than Dreamz. You can tell his lack of formal education makes it hard for Dreamz to explain his actions, but what the other Horsemen did with the idol was essentially say "Hey, you're a number to us that we don't treat as a real adult with important information". From that perspective, it's pretty understandable why he went back to Cassandra and at least have a 50/50 shot at a final two if Earl and Yau-Man are there. You either have to let Dreamz in from the beginning or not reveal it until you absolutely have to. That weird middle ground was about the worst possible idea with that information.

Dreamz could’ve easily won if he was as humble and mature as he claimed he was. He was far too much of a childish bully and a volatile flipper to ever get the jury to listen to his story. Really shows that actions speak louder than words.

exactly. people act as if dreamz conned yua out of a cheeseburger or something, but it was a truck. what makes it so bad was that yua knew about dreamz past and his current situation, and dreamz still strung him along making him think that he was going to do the right thing. i imagine if yua wanted to push it, he could have probably kept the truck since dreamz didnt fulfill his end of the bargin, which he did make on tv with millions of witnesses, and would have probably held up in court. i would have rather taken my chances in losing the million, than to go down in history as the man who conned his friend out of a new truck. his kid would have been even more proud of him then.

Dreamz is one of my all-time favorite Survivor characters, probably top 10. His entire story arc is so interesting and so tragic to witness, and it never felt like he was doing anything out of malicious intent, but he was just unaware of himself. He also provided so much entertainment to this season from start to finish and was a joy to watch. There is no one on Survivor before or since that has been like Dreamz, and he's one of the most standout unique characters the show has ever had.

dreamz breaking the car deal with yau was a kidna stupid decision. The jury would realise how deceitful it was and wouldnt respect his game making Earl win. If dreamz had just given it to yau at least he could have gone out with a better impression or even if he tried to convice yau to vote for someone else.

Not too many one-time players after the original seasons are remembered as much as Dreamz, which is amazing considering the reputation of S14. Between being young at the time & what transpired, his story almost demands a part 2, so it's a bummer we likely won't see him again. I think he'd do great now.

That must have been an awful situation for Dreamz at the final 4 if he gave up immunity he probably got voted out thus not making it to final tribal (and the bigger cash payout) or looking like a jerk on TV for keeping immunity, thus outlasting his opponents, but breaking his deal with Yau.

Side note: In 2019, Earl had a layover flight from Sydney to Los Angeles via Manila where he had to stay in Manila for 8-12 hours. A late friend (RIP) got wind of this and invited him for an impromptu meet and greet/karaoke date with Survivor fans. He had a lot of things to say, from him not being an avid Survivor viewer, why he turned down Winners at War, not knowing who Michele Fitzgerald was (no Aubry stans, I'm not on your side), the Exile Island used in his season was for sale at $8M, how he would have taken out Yau Man regardless if the truck deal happened or not, and how floored he was seeing Dreamz being so overconfident at final tribal.

really enjoy your videos, but think you should change the binary of "smart" and "dumb" moves. The binary doesn't really capture how bad or good a move can be. A survivor player can lose by making one terrible move or several small bad moves that weaken their position over time. Similarly, one amazing move can completely change a person's position. This is not about Dreamz's game to be clear. just a general comment. I think he lost the game long before the car deal as you highlighted in the video. At best I think the car deal cost him two jury votes.

Thanks for your feedback. The binary hero/villain and smart/dumb stems from Survivors storytelling. It was a choice made back when I started the videos to keep a simple scoring system in the same way that Survivor simplifies their storytelling to do 3 days in 42 minutes.

I love yau-man as much as the next person, but he forgave dreamz the next day and admitted it was kinda shitty to put him in the spot he put him in. I feel like 99/100 people in dreamz position if they go through what he went through...probably don't give up the immunity necklace with a shot at a million dollars on the line. i still think Yau Man did Dreamz dirty. everyone agreed to give Dreamz the car but he wanted to make a deal. he put Dreamz in an loss lose situation. Yau making the deal and Dreamz not honoring was gonna prop up stereotypes. it makes Dreamz untrustworthy and a user. Survivor is a representation of life. they edited it poorly to even make Yau some what of a villain for that move. i’m glad Yau regrets doing this. he made Dreamz look worse off than he truly was. i love seeing people wag their fingers at Dreamz as if we wouldn’t do the same thing that he did. poor gameplay on Yau for exposing his threat level. it’s like when Tom is like don’t hold my challenge prowess against like at final 7.

I really disagree, they’re playing a game. Why should Yau care about optics? He’s trying to win a reality game. @@markjackson6431 I didn’t say that it wasn’t ok, Yau at final tribal conceded that it was a game move. But going back on the deal put Dreamz in a bad position for final tribal: his disingenuous answers at final tribal put the nail in the coffin for winning. Saying that Yau should stop and think whether a game move will reinforce stereotypes on the off chance that they get to final four, and Dreamz reneges on his deal, is silly I think. It’s a game. On representation/how it reinforces stereotypes, I think they did a good job with cast selection and editing that season.
