This day was the highlight of my career to date! This project completed by PERI with a COBOD BOD 2 printer really demonstrates the cutting edge of 3D printed construction technology. There is a ton of responsibility on the architects to fully explore and utilize all the benefits of automation. Bringing this technology to fruition requires creative design, creating spaces people will be excited to live in.
Most innovative printed house in the world video: • The Most Innovative 3D...
It is such a unique opportunity to see this project while it's under construction. When the project is complete there will be some finishings like tile, cabinets and wall fixtures covering up the raw concrete. This timing gives us the opportunity to see what the raw 3D printed walls look like and I must say it is extremely impressive.
Waldemar Korte truly enjoyed designing this project and watching it become reality. They were able to get the rest of the subcontractors equally excited demonstrated by their willingness to work on this project without profit. It's very rare in the construction industry to get people who are willing to work without pay just for the sake of being a part of an exciting project and this is one of those rare examples.
Walk through this building with us and see all of the details brought to life through german engineering!

This is awesome. I'm surprised they haven't added explicit data points or wiring. I could imagine putting cat 6 points or even fiber in the same way as they have put in electrical plug points together with stations for wireless access points within the structure. Perhaps even 4G/5G repeaters as I doubt there is much permittivity though the concrete in various areas. Down the line I could even expect small SoC installations with microphones so that you could access digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant anywhere within the house without having to have standalone devices exposed. Apart from the passive lighting, I wonder how they are going to do the rest of the lighting for the house? I'm guessing it will be conventional. I love the heat management built into the structure. Thanks for the video. I hope you get to show how it all turns out.

Too bad. I have high hopes for them as it relates to cost efficient housing solutions. It seems their setup with the portabe printer might be able to quickly print many small houses (if regulators and regulations don't prevent it which sadly seems to be a big if). Do you have an estimate yourself on the bottom price for a small 3d printed house? The small house Apis Cor built a few years ago (in Russia it was I think) cost 10k dollars in total if i recall correctly. It was supervised by two people and seems to have taken a total of 2 days to be fully printed. Do you think that price is realistic? Do you know more about what was and was not included under that price? Given your familiarity with the space do you think it is possible to build a small house for under 20k if existing technologies like 3d printing are maximally leveraged in the process? Thanks for doing the work you do shedding light on these projects. I discovered your channel today but I'll be checking out previous content. Cheers
@automateconstruction
@automateconstruction 3 жыл бұрын
Carl Watts at the moment you can expect a printed house to cost 20-40% more than traditional construction because it’s so new. There’s potential for savings but the industry needs to reach a big enough size to achieve efficiency though economies of scale. It’s probably another few years away before printing a house is really cheaper than normal construction but the increase in lumber prices brought it much closer.

The quality on this "print" looks great, but keep in mind that usually to get sth new certified for human use is quite heavily regulated. (Which is why it took them a year to get this project going.) A good analogy is how you can drive a car in the US vs the TÜV. I think jalopnik has a video on that .

I know you mentioned the lack of air bubbles, but additionally, what makes this the most innovative house you've toured? How does it compare to the house that will be for sale in New Jersey, or the Printed Farms build in FL, or houses from Icon in TX? I can see your excitement on the tour. Trying to match that with what looks like other COBOD builds you've shared. Maybe I'm missing something? Size, 2 stories, speed, cost? What made you so excited for this build? Also, there was no mention of cost or time to complete. A little more opinion or summary from you would be appreciated.
