Thank you for addressing the difference between inspiration and theft. I lost a friend years back over this very issue. We were both doing art fairs (many of the same ones). One fair I showed up and her booth looked like a direct copy of mine down to exact replicas of my own knitwear designs. I was heartbroken. She didn't see the issue and didn't understand why I was upset. I'm still saddened when I think of it.

It is a really hard thing, isn't it? I sometimes get creatively frozen because an idea that I really admire and want to make my own version of, still feels a little like copying to me. I don't want to copy anyone. But how many truly original ideas are there? I see others doing similar work to what I saw, why am I so frozen? Tricky.

I see this quite a lot at art fairs. I sell my art at fairs too. It’s such hard work and each booth is so personal- so much thought goes into your displays and especially into your products. I would be so discouraged to have a “friend” do this to me! It’s unbelievable how some people can copy and be so brazen about it!

To copy the price of some art is not the same as copying the art itself. Im so sorry... somehow it also shows how much your art were admired as good.

This (stealing) issue is something that plagues someone in my family and I think your advice is perfect not just for the person who does not seem to feel adequate enough to create their own work, but also for the person who is being stolen from-no one is you! ❤. It’s hard to watch from the sidelines as my loved one is slighted but I told them to just keep being themself, people will be attracted more to “the real deal” 🌼🍃

I must thank you for all of your artistic inspiration, Wendy. I haven't been particularly creative in about 10 years, before that I was so artistic and really enjoyed creating my own work. I've struggled massively with inspiration and motivation for artistic endeavours since, but as I've been watching your videos for the past couple of evenings, I've found myself doodling in my journal! I'm getting used to using a pen in this way again, so the drawings aren't perfect, but I'm so glad that I've started again ☺ xxx

Hello, this afternoon, I was on Instagram, and I saw someone showing some really fabulous interior design projects. So, I went to her blog page to see more. I thought that this woman was extremely talented. Then, I saw a picture in her craft section of her blog that I knew I had seen before. She said this lighting project used china cups and I remembered that they were paper cups, not china cups. I right keyed "search the web for this image." I did those 4 or 5 times with other pictures on her blog where she took credit for having designed, created, sewed, built, and so on for other peoples' work. She not only used someone else's photographs; she took their words and wrote "article by" and put her name on the directions and wording. It made me feel a little sick to my stomach. I feel bad that people have stolen your work, too. I felt it deeply because I had this experience just before I started watching your channel. All I can say is "Karma." I'm delighted with your videos and enjoyed myself watching them as I was rewiring a lamp this evening. I liked your idea of finding a local group on-line to meet people. I moved to an area 300 miles from where I was living, a year ago, because houses are very inexpensive here and I didn't want to pay a mortgage any longer. I just turned 70 and I dance to music for my exercise, too. All of my family, except one fabulous aunt and one fabulous sister are gone now. They live almost 2000 miles away from here. I'm happy though. I always have a lot to do and a lot to create. I am never bored. I don't expect you to see this but thank you for sharing your art and thoughts. ~ Ginene

I love seeing a glimpse of other's journals, thank you. We are all so very different, aren't we. I admire your courage in , not only putting your thoughts down in writing, but then sharing it here. I have kept art journals for decades and mine are art because I have a deep resistance to writing my feelings down, a fear of ridicule and feeling misunderstood. But as you always do, your encouragement means so much and I may just start with quotes and see if I can be a little braver going forward.

Of course illustrated with lots of secret pockets to add wishes and dreams and lots of glitter! A book for children and adults!

I see you are left handed, which seems to be talanted art folk! Must be something to do with the brain I wonder? I am feeling rather down at the moment, everything seems to be getting on top of me. But I know there is a way out, and I love watching your insperational vidos, thank you. I am 66 years young, and feel life is just beginning again. I live alone, with my dog, in an isolated place, which I love, but would love more human company at times. I am a pottery painter - or was in the past, as I have not done any for a while. Hi Wendy, I think the quote you're referring to is "Give me serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things that should be changed and wisdom to distinguish the one from the other". It's one of my favourites that keeps "poppoing up" for me. Really enjoyed seeing all your journals. I'm the same, I can't have just one journal it doesn't work for me, I have to have journals for different things. Hope you and James are enjoying spending some quality time with your mum. 😊

Positive / Negative...I received positive energy out of your sharing. We are in need of physical, mental, spiritual healing. I had written a list of what I would like in my dream home, and I tugged it away. Years later, my son bought a home and invited me to move in with him. As I was unpacking and decluttering, I came across my list. I read what I had written and everything I had on that list was ✔ off. Amazing positive blessings! Thank you, Wendy for your inspiration.💖

Interesting tutorial. It's helpful to know that stencils could be used on pages, if not an artist, that is, or even if you are. I have stenciled some of my walls. And, the bits of different papers you use, like a pathwork of art. My journaling has always read like a "to do" list of activities; so, I've been watching you for clues. I think I need to write things that are unique to me, that no one else has or knows. I haven't yet tried; but, the idea came from watching your journal vlogs. Yes, movement is good for the hips. I'm 75 and I guess I was suppose to have a hip fracture a decade ago; but, I walk three or four miles a day, so why fix something that is not broke - at least not yet. Good luck with that, You remind me of a butterfly the way your fingers flitter and your dance movements.

Have I told you before how inspiring you are? (Hint: Only every time I watch a video.) So much beauty and creativity and even the tough things you journal about are a journey to the centre of your (and often our) soul. Oh, don't talk about AI... it makes me feel like people are going to lose their own creativity. Which means our creativity is even more important than ever - being able to connect to our own souls and - as you say - sing our own song. Bless you. You are such a joyful happy fairy in my own life. For me it has been helpful, too! With ONE journal I was always too afraid I might not do it justice, after all it would have to contain EVERYTHING at once. That was too overwhelming. When I started different journals for different aspects of life, for different moods or situations, for different materials or techniques... I could see them more as a tool, a playground, a dumping ground, a project, a collection, a therapist, a teacher... I don't always know, but something that invited me to do or try something instead of paralyzing me

I love journals, for me,I call them sketchbooks. I make them,I am an expert bookbinder. I never make them for myself. They are given to friends,to do with as they please. In turn, they send me one that THEY made, even if it is a sweet humble bit of folded papers, but done with love, and recieved with double the love back at them. Those are my journals, the sketches reside in them, because the paper is an invitation.

Paper. Former papyrus. Is it not a delight? A smooth, sometimes textured servant of ideas and thoughts? I see that you use it,no,work alongside it,as silent partners,to achieve a greater goal, together! One cannot exist without the other! That is paper,an ancient companion of expression.

I found even using digital wasn't sitting right with me. I kept wondering why I wasn't painting backgrounds, needless to say my books take longer to make but so much more satisfaction in the creative process when it is your own. The AI thing freaks me out lol I find beauty in nature as an herbalist. So the tree bark and lichen become collage fodder. With AI there is nothing tangible, it doesn't feel grounded. Wendy, you are so amazing. I love watching your videos, you bring a sense of calm to my life :) Thank you for that. You have inspired me to try my hand at art journaling to add to my love of doing watercolour paintings/urban sketching etc. This will be a fun element to add to my life! I'm so sorry people have been copying your work, (I hope they don't try to pass it off as their own and try to sell it!). My son introduced me to an AI creator website that he's been using for fun and I've been playing with it for a few weeks now. I am using it to get ideas for my paintings (I haven't actually done any paintings with those ideas yet) but that's where it ends for me. I won't be trying to sell anything that I "generate" on that program, it's just an extra tool for me to help think of new ways of doing things. I know that so many graphic designers/illustrators etc are worried about losing work due to folks not hiring them when they can do their own artwork while using AI etc but I know that a real artist is one that surpasses anything that AI can produce as there is a human element to real art done by us humans! It is a strange new world out there!

I am so glad that you shared that you have different journals for different things. I am starting a new journal for a different reason. I am excited to know that I not along in the process.😊🙏🏾💕

Love the message from the canary about singing our own song. It is a shame that there are those who feel the need to steal, rather than trying something of their own. Your work inspires me, and triggers countless new ideas, but I wish to create art that reflects my voice, my ideas, my thoughts and vision, not yours. Copycats are not artists, and should be ostracized by our community. I adore your journals. I have five woking at the moment, but each is a jumble of writing, sketching, studies, swatches, and art pieces. I always start out with the plan of keeping one for just writing, etc. but that doesn't last long. And one to rule them all doesn't work when paint is drying and I 'need' to write or draw. So, I have jumbled journals, and they are each treasured. Thank you for sharing, and for making videos despite a hurting back and hip. Please continue to dance (even if some days it's only "jazz hands" or head bopping, when your body isn't cooperating), as we all need to share that joy of being alive. (Dancing with you in Australia, trying not to spill my coffee since I forgot to put my cup down!) Hoping you remain sanguine, embracing both Joy and Grace. Sending love and light, and healing energy🤗❤️🌞, and a bit of warmth from the Antipodes

I love to use composition notebooks to roll off my brayer and then use this with stenciling and mark making as collage papers! Btw, love that you have so many books with their own special use.

I love your journals, you very good writer, I am dyslexic though I love books and reading too. Typography that's awesome. Even though I am dyslexic, it's very challenging and I still feel like it is for me, I felt like this even when I was at primary school, I bet you taught many dyslexic students.

Wendy ! " Words have Power, words are magic " is exactly what the Ancient Égyptiens thougth about their writing..... The name hiéroglyphes means sacred scripture .... When saying outloud words and phrases , they could brings things to life or bring damnation.... Saying the name Ramsès for example, IT was giving him energy on the Afterlife. Hence the hiéroglyphes all over the Walls of the tombs. With food blessings etc.... I'm an Historian always been fascinated by ancient Egypt and always felt they were on to something with the magical Powers of words. That is how I use Them sometimes..... Thanks for this vidéo Wendy ! Lovely to See you back 😍😍😍 take care

You definitely inspire the hidden artist/creator inside of me to come out. It’s an aspect of myself that I haven’t given space to explore but as I get older I feel the pull to go there. I am looking forward to that journey. Thank you❣️

You're speaking about gratitude...every day in my journal I will write out an uplifting bible scripture, then I will post 5 Things I am grateful for. After that I doodle or sketch. It's a great way to begin the day.
