Some 747's are mounted with different engines, Due to the economically, in order to reach big distances without filling the fuel tank. The conventional 2x2 turbine has more distance on its wings between the engines

@afthefragile That's torque not horsepower though. A diesel has a bunch of torque because of its long stroke. I'm not saying it's not powerful but even the gas motor option for this car has 280 hp versus this ones 225.

Pulling a heavy load really just comes down to gearing. Most aircraft tugs have barely a 1/3 of the power the Touareg has and they push and pull aircraft everyday. Having the Touareg pull a Airliner for a "world record" is just marketing scheme.

did you hear of the VW pheaton. it's by definition the best car ever build. accept for the exotic producers, like rolls and bentley the car had to apply to a few rare requirements of the previous C.E.O. and it DID. view top gear review on the pheaton here on you tube. i also think the v10 diesel is a superb engine, it sounds realy cool. it's also impresive to have a Touareg in your back miror, it looks realy agresive. and it brakes very wel, i tried to have one crash into me, tailing toclose

Most decent V8 trucks and SUVs with enough NM and LE would do the same with a decent ballast on the back seats. I am only saying this, since he is acting like only the tuareg can do this. Now lets try it with a Ford F350 Turbo Diesel and better tires... 800 lb.-ft. of torque would do the trick too! So would a Range Rover TD and dozens of other beasts. I like the Tuareg too, but he is worshiping it like a god. I am not sure that a car journalist should be that biased...
