Good point. Lots of reasons to bring back manufacturing to USA.
@zellty423

Sad reality is that will hurt our economy. Companies look for the cheapest labor possible when it comes to making their products and China’s labor is by far the cheapest (4x cheaper than the wages needed to produce the same product in the U.S.). With that logic there isn’t really a reason to make anything here. Our minimum wage and labor laws will make manufacturing way more costly and less profitable.

I've been getting sick now for the past two years, i kept wondering what could be happening to me, products i've purchased from Ross, blanket, pillows, pots, etc. terrible headaches almost, every other day, i told myself its got to be something in my bedroom, i removed the blankets, even the pillows, this is the first time, i woke up without being dangerously sick, thanks so much for this information, you may have saved lives.

Just in case you’re interested, look into pillows with the description certi-PUR on them. They use a higher quality foam without the chemicals such as formaldehyde, phthalates, have low VOC emissions, no mercury, lead, and other heavy metals. This is crazy that we sleep with this toxic chemical filled pillow every night breathing in this stuff! I think that was probably your main problem. Perhaps also using organic cotton bedding would be helpful. The cotton fields are laced with chemicals as the plant grows. Hope this helps😊

Don’t let the Media scare you. Maybe you want to check with your doctor about your headaches. Years ago I had migraines every month ; they lasted 3 or 4 days. In May case it was hormonal. A week ago I saw someone go to a thrift shop and was adding some liquid to jewelry and flashing a blue light to check if it had lead in it and one of the chain did contained lead. They took it to the front register to let them know about. I can’t really fully remember the whole detail but this is what I remember. Hopefully I find the short and link it here.

The point of this video was that new items purchased should not contain lead. Some where in the 70s lead use was deemed toxic. In a thrift store, I would expect some items I pick to contain lead because they were manufactured before the danger was known. I could ramble on. The ball was dropped on these imports coming into the country with lead in them.

This doesn't surprise, because the one retail I worked at, we were clearly instructed to not take the plastic off the bags and jewelry until you were ready to put them on the shelf, because if you touched the bling on it for too long, you got green coloring on your skin. But no matter how reported this or said something, they still sold them. The bottom line was more important than the health of the customers, and employees.

I worked in Fashion Jewelry sales for years and can tell what is happening. The vendors Ross is buying from have lead laws they are supposed follow. It starts with the suppliers those vendors use and yes, most are overseas. Even if those suppliers don’t follow lead laws, the vendors who are selling to big box retailers are supposed to ALWAYS test samples before purchasing materials, especially from overseas. In this case, they may or may have not known the materials didn’t pass the lead law but to make the sale, they still sold the inventory to Ross. I know some retailers test the product before putting it in the floor but I’m not sure if Ross does.

All name brand fast fashion outlets are guilty of producing their products in China, except the major problem is that people don't care - they don't check where their sources are coming from (child labor, human trafficking, etc.). Look at the mini documentary on Shein influencers walking around the inside of Shein "headquarters", they even watched how their clothes were being made, yet remained delusional/in denial about Shein - even going as far to claim it to be "ethical". Or watch fast fashion documentaries on the subject too, it is so sad and pathetic, painful to see people being abused just so they can make a living.

You know whom knowingly import them for US consumers for profit. lol. Wake me up when the people who made these are also the ones selling to US consumers. Manufacturers are only producing things based on their client demands, they're not at fault unless manufacturers promised and delivered different items. It's like if you company had an illegal protocol, and you followed company policy unknowingly, you're unlikely liable as you were representing your employer based on guidance received from your employer. If more people actually hold greedy companies at fault instead of driving blame to dozens of cheap oversea countries, perhaps we may get something other than politically motivated comment about somewhere.

@@JennRighter Agreed. I was just expanding on the faux leather, but I could go all day talking about countless other things that either contain lead, or other toxic chemicals, or byproducts. For example, not only does Faux leather contain lead, it can contain arsenic, cadmium, chromium, etc. Furthermore, synthetic leather is a PVC and polyurethane polymer, the bad kind that are endocrine disrupters. So not only do you get exposed to toxic metals, you get exposed to things like Bisphenol A,S,F, etc (BPA/phthalates) We live in a wonderful society where we sleep and sit on toxic materials, use products made of toxic materials, consume foods with toxic ingredients/amounts, packaged inside of toxic packaging, and come home to take showers with a toxic water supply, and go back to bed to start the process over again. Then as we all get cancer and illness, we are all told “it’s genetic”, and we are sold on the concept of pumping toxic radioactive chemicals throughout our body with the hope of the slight chance that it will fix everything. Our whole lives we not only pay, but pay a premium, to slowly kill ourselves, then pay even more to finish the job, with all our bank accounts completely sucked dry. All while all the corporations and medical industry laugh their way to their bank, just to continue moving into the next victim.

How does lead get into the products in the first place? When you think about manufacturing and the fact that if there is lead, it is in every step of the way of materials and manufacturing and resale. That's a lot of lead exposure. There used to be lead paint and they still sweat copper pipes with lead, but that is probably better than plastic pex pipe. We need a whole mini documentary explaining where this lead comes from.

Something is going on in our country that is very hidden - but also noticeable. We just don't know the reasons for it all. People want everything cheap but you get what you pay for. Better to go to a local charity shop or resale store and get better quality items for less than what you pay at one of these discount chains.
