My old neighbor Maggie was born in Oklahoma in 1930. She was one of 13 kids. Her father was a dairy farmer. When she was 16 she went to a friend's house, and had a hamburger for the first time. Maggie was soooooo surprised, she didn't know you could eat cows because they only used their cows for dairy cows. She said her dad only killed one pig a year, and the rest of the time they ate mainly squirrels, opossums and racoons. Times sure were different then.

My mother never allowed me and my siblings to eat any kind of fast food growing up. She always cooked for us and was adamant we don’t eat out of the house (however my parents aren’t American maybe that’s why). But she did not permit any fast food, so even now at 22 I still never picked up the habit and I thank her for that.

I was going to comment about the same thing. I don't like McD's or BK. But my favourite A&W sandwich alone is over $8. A take-out "meal", at least in Canada, easily runs at least $12. My dad went to Dairy Queen for him and my mom the other day. He said that 2 cheeseburgers and 1 order of fries came to $21. I can go to an actual restaurant and have a better meal for about the same price as a fast food meal.

Due to pregnancy complications, my mom was rushed to a hospital hours away from where we lived.I was delivered 2 1/2 months early. She was discharged before I was but was able to stay blocks away from the hospital via Ronald Mcdonald House. She said she was grateful because she had nowhere to go in the area. They didn't charge her a dime for staying there, but she said that they did have chores to complete in the mornings. I remember her expressing gratitude for RMH and it giving her the ability to still stay with me every hour of visiting every day until i could go home. 32 yrs later, she still has the RMH t-shirt they had given her.

My grandma was part of the generation of housewives where it was embarrassing. But sadly after her husband died in a construction accident and stuck raising five kids alone she just didn't care what anyone thought anymore. Just as long as her kids were fed.
@JulyMoon82
@JulyMoon82 8 ай бұрын
Honestly, that's all that matters at the end of the day. It's not easy being a parent in general, but being a single parent... let me tell you! I feel accomplished if my kiddo is clean, fed, polite, and has her homework done before bedtime. And I know that is considered the bare minimum for a lot of people, but depending on what you have going on that day, all you can pray for is that the house didn't burn down, the bills are paid, and there's groceries in the fridge. I commend your grandma for raising those 5 kids after losing her husband, especially at a time when working moms were looked down upon.

In AZ in the late 80’s and early 90’s Little Caesar’s also did the 30 mins or less. Our local one stopped bc they could never meet the 30 mins and my mom would order pizza every other week for Saturday dinner and our entire order would be FREE because she would call at 29 mins and 30 seconds and say, “they’re still not here, I want it free.” And they were obligated to waive everything. Lol. She ALWAYS tipped the drivers extremely well, but she was trying to make a point that the 30 mins or less was a very, very bad business decision.😂

The short answer is YES. All synthetic materials leach off endocrine disrupting chemicals that are absorbed directly into your skin. Furthermore, they off-gas hazardous chemicals that you then breathe in, especially shoes. Multiply the synthetic materials you wear by the number of people in your office, the bus, and other public places and you begin to understand the high levels of infertility and cancers we all face in modern life.

Its usually because it takes so long to clean them , or because they simply have not been cleaned because not all are trained to. When I worked there I wasn't trained to clean the machine and people would get so upset when it came time to do so, like so sorry I'm not going to serve you grossness and that when another employee finally does clean it it takes a bit to "reset" if you will. Its not clean it then boom ice cream... Think of it like a slushie machine if I can give you any kind of comparison though its not the best. You do want actual ice cream right?

@@TLL921yes, this. The machines are also not made to runall day every day without proper maintanance, of which most employees are not trained in. For instance the inner blade's rubber needs to be replaced monthly and is usually not. The rubber that protects the inner machinations need to be properly lubed every day and they most certainly are not. Then the process of cleaning is a hassle. It's not the companies fault, they just have a monopoly on the market so it appears shady.

Me watching this as I eat Taco John's. Fast food is a weird part of our system for sure, its quick, cheap and on every corner. Old dive bars with fast food windows like Windsteds or local burger places in the Midwest are a lot tastier, less processed food, I'm from Kansas I know. I have stayed in a ronald house, they really help for tough hospital times. Thank you once again Bailey keep educating the masses.

The way you described tearing up a McDonald’s meal with nuggets, way too much sauce and the oversized drink🤣🤣 I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in 6 months but I went last night after getting smacked and I really did realize what I had just done after tearing up 10 ketchup packets all around me

Bailey, could you do a let’s stop dark history before it happens in Lahaina Hawaii video? There is so much happening over there with developers trying to buy their land and take their culture away because of the fire. I feel like with your popularity you could reach out to the locals who watch you and see what they need. You definitely have power by numbers on your side to stop them from losing what makes them a beautifully unique place.

I used to live in the city and ate fast food pretty regularly. Sometimes more than once a day. I was heaviest at 240. Didn’t overeat and had a very active job. We moved to a small resort town where there is no fast food and anything we have is restaurant seating or one burger place that always has a super long line due to tourists. Naturally I wasn’t eating out anymore and dropped down to 165 in a year. Partly due to stress but I was still so surprised with how much I’d lost. Still go to the city for errands and occasionally will get fast food but now it makes me feel so sick any time I eat it.

You briefly touched on the food desert thing, and it's such a widespread issue. I work as a paramedic in one of lowest income counties in Missouri. Short of driving to the next county to go to Walmart, the only food options are McDonald's, Sonic, a handful of little Mom & Pop burger/pizza places, and grocery stores with poor quality food at higher prices. A vast majority of the population is overweight, and in very poor health. So much of this would at least be reduced by access to more healthy options like quality produce and meat that you're not gambling your digestive health away over.
