Nice one take, Tim! Lot's of great info packed in here. Have always wondered about Toyos but have never run them.

Awesome review! I'll definitely consider these once mine wear out.

Once worn in, the 37x13.5 Toyo's have been absolute weapons for me on my Wrangler which is a low geared rock crawler. I run them at 5 psi on the trail. They are stiff but after wear in they really perform. And my rig drives straight down the highway on them. Weight is the only issue. I'll try something lighter next time.

Thanks a ton for your Tire Talks. And all of the content you two put out! We love it all. Our rig is a very big and heavy pig (11,000lbs), but it's what we had and he's paid off. 06 f350 9' flatbed with a pop up on it. We live 30 minutes east of Tahoe and do most of our exploring within 8 hours in any direction from here. Deep snow, hardback, some sand, lots of different types of rock and mud. We're currently trying out some Milestar Patagonia MT 37 12.5 17's in a D, which is at it's max for our weight. They're pretty tough as far as slicing is concerned! Very quiet on highway. But they do wear fast and have a shallower tread depth compared to our last STT Pro's. The Milestar's are noticeably lighter and we love that. Road handling is pretty good too. Minimal sidewall flex in corners and give good control in hard braking etc.. The STT Pro's handled well too. We're not sure what we'll try next.. Possibly a KM3, Toyo MT, Yokohama Geolander MT, Maxxis razr mt... Thoughts lol!!? We started with a K02, which was very nice, just didn't check as many boxes as the STT Pro's did. Thanks again to you both for sharing all of your experience, adventures and good times! Enjoy your day!

This was excellent, Tim! I've been binge watching your series but found this unexpectedly when I was looking for reviews of the Toyo MT and I thought to myself, "Hey, there's a reviewer I can trust." haha I've always been a BFG fan, having owned the KM2's, KM3's, and KO2's. But with my new 2022 4Runner I have to buy a 17" tire now, and the tall skinnies are by far my favorite. The Toyo MT is the one and only MT that comes in 255/80R17. I wasn't thrilled about switching away from BFG, but this review has me much more optimistic. Toughness is my number one criterion, since 99% of my off-roading/ exploring is solo, and it sounds like these will work just fine.

I agree with a lot you said (tire weight and sand use in particular), but my experience with Toyo M/T's on my E350 Sportsmobile that weighs in the mid 11K lbs when on a trip is that they have terrible wear life and a lot of chunking. Of course the weight of my vehicle has a lot to do with it. I was getting between 20k-25k mile life out of them. I have since switched to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and have been very impressed with them. I still do get a little chunking but they are quieter, smoother, lighter, track straight (for some reason the Toyo M/T's caused a right side pull), perform well on & off road and at this time looks like I will get another 5k-10k miles out of a set. I've just started a F-250 based build and am trying Nitto Recon Grapplers. They are a touch more mild than the Ridge Grapplers but have a 55k mile factory warranty and I will probably have a higher mix of highway miles on this build. We'll see how they do. Thanks for the video!

I'm running the old school M/T but awesome Michelin XZL on my FJ40. They have a reputation to be extremely resistant but their sidewall is made of polymer and is very flexible without the need to go very low in pressure.

Tires are my favorite topic. I run Mickey Thompson 285/70/R70 Baja Boss ATZP3 on my fully loaded Land Cruiser 200. They are in between AT & MT. Super happy. I had BFG KO2 before (most popular tire in Southern Africa), but I think this are better when raining.

Wondering if you'd ever consider running the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I've been running them for about 15k miles now and love them. Shaun Whale from 4WD 24/7 runs them exclusively and swears by them. I'd love to see how they stand up to the hardcore environments you guys go through as well. Anyhow, thanks for the great content and here's to looking forward to more great adventures!

I had these on a 2005 2500 dodge cummins for years.heavy truck. And they never wore. 😂 I started wondering when they would start wearing down😂.

These Toyos are on the top of my list along with the KM3s. I really like ripping down logging roads fast while aired down. Sounds like the KM3s might provide a more comfortable ride and better handling than the heavier Toyo MTs. Wondering what your opinion on that would be. The Toyos are $100 cheaper than the BFGs right now.

Same size I want to run on the Taco. I think the guys at work are tired of hearing me talk about the difference between the 285/75/16 vs the 255/85/16. lol

We're currently on the BFG KM3 in the 255/85/16 size. They're ok but too aggressive in the sand too, and they're wearing faster than I wished. Great in mud, not bad on pavement but sand, gravel and wet road performance is less than satisfactory. I'll go back to the ST Maxx when we need tires again just because it's tread pattern works so much better in a larger variety of situations.

Any particular reason with going with M/T instead of A/T tyres? Or is it just your preference. Looking at buying a set for my 4x4 camper undecided between MT and AT. Leaning towards AT as Ill be touring Europe first and as you mentioned there isnt as much offroad!

More pliable? Milder compound? Side by side the nitto trail grappler is a bit more “softer” than the toyo…same company different compound/tread….If you tow 24/7 or drive an abrams tank you want the toyo

Ever consider the Toyo R/T ? I've been running them (285/75/R18) on for years (multiple sets) on a LX470 and have been impressed with their ability and tread life. I can get them to chunk but never to the extent my buddies get in the San Juan Mountain passes.
