Only 2 tires I'd consider are STT Pro and the new KM3.
@Bo_Hazem
@Bo_Hazem 6 жыл бұрын
OblioAndArrow Both are great, but if you want something much cheaper so you can change them more often than over-use them then you might consider Kumho KL71. So far so good but need 1-2 years and the wet season to come so I can really judge them. Had 2 STT's and they're very grippy on wet roads but not so great on mud, still great overall and was happy with them. STT Pro's must be better, was gonna buy them but the official provider didn't want to have certificate for 35's in compare to Marshal (Kumho) official provider, and was too cheap in compare.
@xXThePointXx
@xXThePointXx 6 жыл бұрын
Bo_Hazem Thanks for the suggestion. STT Pro are great so far, but they lack the "Mountain/Snowflake" designation that are required in some states for winter driving. Running Pro 37s on the JKU now, but looking to run 35 KM3s on the Ram tow pig when they get released. If they survive well on that heavy beast, they should do well on just about anything?

Some Aussie Patrols are extremely heavy, passing 3.5 ton mark. And all mentioned tyres have been used underneath them, so no worries about the muddies they're very tough. My shorty patrol is weighing over 2.5 ton now (2364kg factory curb weight) despite looking very small from the outside, with no bull bars or winch yet. Running 35x12.5R17 Marshal (Kumho) KL71, those weigh around 33.2kg per rubber.

Good point on the stiff sidewall. I was thinking I wanted something with a stiffer sidewall than my BFG Ko2 so they wouldn't sag under the weight of my camper as much, but now I'm seeing the flip side of it as well. Thanks

I have only just replaced my 285/75 /16 open country MT's with the same on my 80 series I only got 103k😁 out of them and they were severely punished with three four week trips one including the cape via the OTT and Frenchman's track towing a 1500kg camper trailer one of the other trips included Sturt's stony desert if one would like to test their tyres try that towing a camper, as for on road fantastic can not fault them. Nice review👍👌

I have had a set of 295/65r20 MT. Had them for just over a year and put 12k miles on them. About 1/4 tread gone. Allot of payment driving. Rotated once at 7k. Perfect tire never stuck and not to loud on highway. Just recently I noticed the side lugs have a varying spacing. When turning tight on pavement at slow speeds it sounds like a zipper

Nitto Trail Grapplers are the best allround tyre, Maxxis Bighorn or razor for. Mud are epic.
@johnfitzgerald5158
@johnfitzgerald5158 4 жыл бұрын
Also, totally different experience with Nitto Trailer Grapplers on my brothers Ford vs Toyos on my Ram 2500. His Nittos were much louder on the open road and wore out irregularly quick. My Toyo MTs are as about as quiet as some ATs I've used and have been wearing quite evenly and predictable. With a heavier truck like the Ram 2500 the stiff sidewalls are necessary, and I can run lower pressures.

Thanks for sharing, well everything really, community spirit for pro and money pit saving for noobs :) For my build that's taking forever really I was seriously considering these very tires, and the more info the better, I did consider other options, the old ground hawgs with one of my friends seem to have lived for 7+ years now between road and off road use, and he bought these when they were 3 years old ( yes terrible idea, but still ), still can't get those fresh anymore. I mean they are what I'd LIKE to have but being moderately dreamy about it :P So taking a look at Interco's Cobalt MT, but since u have 16s on u'r ute I guess u won't really try them, these start with 17 inch and changing rims just for a tire ...

I think price should be part of your review. I know that there are more expensive tires than Toyos and there are cheaper ones as well. I think Toyo's are a good value. I have 35"x12.5"x17" on a 2012 Jeep JK and you are correct about the sidewall. Don't do much sand driving here but all the red clay and mud anyone would want. Yes, that was a fair review you gave and I would also recommend these tires. I don't have near the weight you carry but I can tell you that wet red clay is slippery. Doesn't matter what tire you have. My guess on your next set is Interco. If not, it should be.

i also have this on my disco 2. They are better then bfg km2. the bfg km2 wear out much faster. i have size 255-85-16. in europe the problem is that in the size 255-85-16 mud only 2 brands deliver this. Bfg and Toyo. And after years of driving on bfg I am happy that I made the switch to Toyo.

It’s a perfect size for overlanders actually. Around 33 inches tall and 10 inches wide. Less weight than the overused 285/75/16, while having the same clearance and better fuel economy. 265/75/16 is only a 32” btw
