Toyota 3K Carburetor Install on Suzuki Samurai!

We Install the Certified Machine Toyota 3K carburetor on a Suzuki Samurai. This kit is very nicely put together and includes everything needed for the job. The process is well explained in the included instructions but we thought a Hwy83 Suzuki install video would be icing on the cake! Step by step we show the procedure of removing the stock carb, deleting unnecessary parts & installing the 3K carb + components. This is an easy and simple swap for the problematic stock Samurai carburetor. On or Off road the 3K carb will perform excellent.

Tony is funny, good personality but more importantly he is excellent at transferring the knowledge to complete installation of these products to the consumer. If I was selling a product like this, I'd write a script and a check for Tony.

Worst mistake I ever made was buying that Chinese knock-off POS from Certified Machine! Great complete kit. Not a real 3k. Shaft seal leaked- found out those carbs have no shaft seal. Sent the carb back for them to inspect, they readjusted the mixture to compensate for the vacuum leak, never “found” a leak, then admitted there was no seal, “ never had a problem before”, and sent it back. Wanted a refund and got a run-around. The real 3k would work great , but install a Weber and rejet for a 1.3- much better way to go! Great video tho.

@@mattboyer7812 the carb I got from cm is so rich I don't need the choke to start cold 35° F Gary told me the rich condition could be caused by numerous issues but he said I was welcome to re-jet but he doesn't have a clue about where to buy or what type of jets I need.i thought by paying extra I would have a carb that was jetted correctly... just buy a cheap carb you will be fine, piss on circumcision machine!!!!!!!!

Watch’em some videos and replaced sukisamy’s carb w/ 5k mod’s my self ,, sir Tony’humor& Einstein talent was a enhancements for my 90’ samurai!! She’s purrin’ Like a kitty, much more 18km/ litter not so bad even w/ SD5 AC compressor,,, a bueaty & a practical daily car,,, thank u very much Tony,,, what be a world w/o a folks like U!!!

Just to let you guys know , i am totally impressed with this guy Tony , he actually answers my questions about access to a 1.3 intake i was looking for and he answered questions about the process i needed info on , i never comment on video's but this guy is top notch in my book and he comes down to us laymen's turms as needed for us old guy's keep up the light hearted stuff its totally entertaining

I was going to put a weber on my Suzuki and stumbled upon your 3k install video. Long story short, bought the kit, installed in in about 90 minutes and couldn't be happier with the results! Absolutely complete.....everything fit perfectly and while I let the motor turn over to check for leaks, it started before I had it completed. Never had a conversion fit so well and work so good. Thanks to Certified Machine for the kit and for Hwy83 Suzuki for posting the video. Great Job!!!

I installed a Certified Machines 3K on my 87 Samurai with the 8v 1.6L swap I inherited from my late brother-in-law. I haven't had any issues but I was worried that I was fueling the carb with an electric pump 4-7 psi 38gph. Gary said the carb is good for both 1.3 and 1.6 engines and needs 3-5 psi. Great video! Recommend doing the harness delete with this install.

Been watching all ur vlog... reminds me when I’m in the corps as 2147 LAv tech ..got my 90’Samurai,,, almost all mech tech fit,,,, mine’s a 2E carb w/ AC idle up conversion, tranny & transfer bushing, transfer adapters, & bunch o’ tip were far out very good,, especially w/ beer!! Me & my gunny sgt usually sip ale in a canteen cup while above& under the rig at bay,,, even as a instructor got my left hand on A cup,,, hurrah!!! Get some YO!!!

Tony, how about a video on engine transplants? These engines are 20+ years and parts are hard to come by due to Suzuki not being in the US. Something like using Ford, Chevy, Honda, Toyota... into our Trackers/Samurai's. There are some old Chevy swaps, but nothing "new". I've been thinking about the new turbo 4s from Ford for my 1996 Tracker

Just swapped this from my stock carb. My stock ran well but hoped for more power. I did not get any more power but this was an awesome way to clean up my engine bay and have something I can count on long-term.

M.W. I always run water choke Webers, I port match the manifold( die grinder with burr bit) & with 2" exhaust I definitely notice more power, but I'm wanting better fuel economy. The webers are always too rich, Have the 3k carbs been rejetted or is it not necessary?

@@speedfreak8200 I don't know. Ask Gary with Certified. I ran a fuel pressure regulator on my cj7 Weber 38 at 4 or 5lbs maybe... A must on the Weber for CJs so prob same for Samurai. Always had to adjust my Weber... Never adjust my 3k

I think this kit is the way I need to go. I have a Weber DGAV on my sami, and it kind works, but the carb itself is like 20 years old. The Certified Machine kit is reasonably priced.

How’s theses carbs do off-road I’ve got the Weber and it runs good but if you hit a bounce going up a hill it will flood out then half to hold it to the floor while cranking it and try it again

YO! Love the channel bro, watched all your vids so far:) My 93 Sidekick has a oil pan gasket leak, any chance you could do a vid on tips for that job? I scored a untouched 93 not 1 wire out of place! Got the brain fixed and it runs fantastic just need that oil leak fixed haha

Thanks for watching! If 4x4 you will need to lower the center diff section to access the oil pan, then use RTV sealant for the pan. Do not use cork gasket

Great video I wish I would have watched before I installed mine😂 I have 1988.5 samurai and a few years ago it died while off roading had to tow it back to home and had no spark after changing several parts it turned out distributor was the problem have you seen this before thinking about getting backup.

Awesome video! Been thinkin of doing this swap, my only concern is the way it performs in the cold…do you know of anyone running into any problems at extreme cold? I’ve taken the old zuki out at -30 Celsius

we have had -15 degree temps here in Wisconsin and have had no issues. The manual choke is excellent for cold temps!

Hi from France, Super video, thank you for this demonstration. I bought a Samurai with this almost new carburetor that was mounted on it. The Sam starts very well but I have gasoline odors, the spark plugs are black and I consume quite a lot. I've tried to adjust the carburetor, but apart from the choke adjustment screw and the idle adjustment screw, I can't seem to change the problem of too much fuel. Would you have any advice for me?

Not sure why you would downgrade from fuel injection, but this depends on your particular setup. Different regions had different fuel injection systems. The early US fuel injection is a direct swap for a carb because the ignition was still mechanically adjusted. For the EU system which is the same as the later US system you need to also change the distributor for the carb version with a vacuum actuator and rpm advance weights.

The stock samurai carb is extremely over emission controlled and the most complicated device on the vehicle. Usually the first thing a new owner is looking to replace. This is the easiest and most affordable replacement for stock carb. Not a power or performance upgrade.

Do you know how to bypass problem useing the R terminal on starter motor to ignition coil? I have 4 pin gm ignition module and inside the dashboard I have linear positive voltage regulator so me fuse pops if I try to use that R therminal bypass thing on me E core singel coil hei only fuse pops nothing does engine refuse to start I used diode with wire but still nothing only fuse pops. Any ideas how to solve that problem ??

Please clarify what Toyota 3K means ? I saw mention of 1978 Corolla but it was not affirmative. Why is this carb better than other options that have been used for several decades like the Webers and I also heard about some Harley Davidson carbs. There could be some pros and cons such as ability to tune mixtures or changing of jets for high altitude etc. Also ability to run well with the float bowl is at extreme angles like when off roading etc. I know some motorcycles and airplanes use a slide carbureator that I think is referred to as "constant velocity". that allow good running at extreme tilt attitudes etc.

Hello, I recently put this carburetor on my suzuki samurai sj 413 1.3, but it does not finish well, I think a lot of gasoline comes in because the spark plugs make them very black, what size of nozzle do you have to mount or how to adjust

Hi Tony, I write from Foz do Iguaçu - Brazil, I have a Suzuki samurai year 94 g13ba engine, it has a mechanical fuel pump, and the AISAN 21067 carburettor I believe, I wanted to know if this carburettor will fit my samurai, I was told that the samurai up to 94 engines are practically the same, from then on they are injected, I wanted to know from you through your knowledge if it will work out in my samurai, I appreciate your attention in advance and a wonderful end of the year

I have a 1989 Suzuki Sidekick 1.3L 8v carbureted engine. It was the only year I believe that the sidekick had a carburetor instead of EFI. My question is if your 3K carb and carb kit will work for that? I think it’s the same motor as the samurai’s? Thanks!

Installed this kit..on my 87. Runs great . But cut out and stalled at least 15 times. at 9,000 ft. While hunting. Has anyone else had this prob. Or should I check other possibilities. Thanks

@@Hwy83SUZUKI I have the My side carb kit and I’m having issues with spewing out fuel and I’ve gone through everything I talked to Zuko Road. He helped me try to tune it up, but I’m just tired of it always leaking gas at idle.
