Thanks man. We need more of these video's. No music, easy voice, timestamp. WD40 FTW !

Thanks for your comment, Feedback is always appreciated. My most recent videos are all actually using background music and Im not doing voice overs. I Have changed the approach to recording into a style where i talk to the camera explaining the plan, and afterwards use fast forward with music in the background. I may try a few voice overs again When I Put the 4runner back in the garage to do any more work on it. To be honest, I Still need to figure out exactly what style of delivery suits my channel best.

How did you jack up the top ball joint? When I try I lift the whole car
@tuga21122 жыл бұрын
Ball joint separator fork probably. I cannot remember but I never had a fork failing to split. As long as you select the correct fork,it's only a matter of getting an heavier hammer until it works. I had one case in a Alfa Romeo where I needed to add a shim to the fork but it's still the same principle

HI, do you have to to remove the lower ball joint? Thank you
@tuga21122 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, but it's been a while since I done that job so I can't remember to be honest

never use Jubilee clips they will throw the balance of your axel out wearing both CV Joints sooner , always use clips provided with boot

I know. filming videos is not as easy as it looks. I'm still trying to improve but I'm the case of this specific one. There was also a bit of figuring out what was the next step in the process while I was working on it, and when that happens usually I forget to reposition the camera. Or I stinky don't know where would be the right place to put it. There's 2 things I'd like to add to my filming kit, one would be a camera with optical zoom in the lenses and I'd like to get some kind of long "multi link" arm to build the action cam in places without having the tripod in the way of getting work done. But I'm not planning on buying any of those for a while, I want to improve my skills at filming and editing before investing any money 😆

too many steps. this can be done much easier with less disassembly.

i think your right, if i was going to do that again i would do it differently. but im not sure how tbh. compared to removing cv joints on my other cars that was considerably harder.

@@tuga2112 do you have to remove the brake hoses in order to get to the axle boot
@tuga21122 жыл бұрын
No you don't, I did that just to make my life easier with access. I usually remove more than it's needed to do any jobs. It makes it easier to record footage and also makes it easier to do other jobs in future because parts don't get the chance to seize up

@@tuga2112 I actually think it's better to take your approach on this, my gf decided to buy a 95 4runner 3.0 automatic and it has been dreadful what we have been finding out about the car slowly On top of that, the guy who sold it to her disappeared and was using text apps for calling so he couldn't be reached after The list is one big motherfucker of a job Knock sensor (Everyone's favorite code 52!) All of the brakes and rotors are covered in mud and rust, it needs both axle boots replaced, the output shaft seal is leaking, the exhaust has rust leading all the way to the front of the car, the speedometer odometer heat guage and fuel pressure gauge do not work, infact when I looked under the dash I found one of the harnesses disconnected Oh yea it leaked power steering fluid all over the fucking place before she owned it so when we found a leak, we found out the pump was bad, 288 dollars later no leak but found out everything else wrong with the car

You gotta keep in mind one thing. For this job specifically.. I can't remember exactly the details but I know I removed a part by using bolts to press it out which is completely the wrong way to do it. I think I mention in the video afterwards that is wrong and that it should be removed differently. But you will find a lot of people put thumbs down and negative comment before watching the full video. As far as your situation. I can only wish you luck. my channel got plenty of work on the Celica gt4 and lotus elan. By comparison working on a 4runner is very easy. But nonetheless any work you do in any 20+ year old car will be time consuming. And from all the things you listed, the only one I've had similar issue with so far was exhaust. But mine was a complete rust through that broke the pipe out of the silencer in 2. I have footage of the repair where I remove the rust and fabricate a bracket to reattach the 2 parts and weld it together. Then covered the whole thing with gumgum to avoid any leaks. Under normal circumstances you would replace the exhaust pipes. But I couldn't find any for sale in the UK. And the exhaust specialist company wanted 450 quid to build that pipe. I will eventually put that video on the channel. But at the moment life been pretty hectic and I got plenty of videos to edit waiting for the free time
