I agree but the sad thing is Toyota won’t do this because then there’s almost zero reason to jump up to Lexus. Which is more a knock on how unimpressive Lexus has become than anything.

Actually got mines for 40k and my colleague just got his for 39k cheaper than mines. No one is paying 46k believe me. The JBL is actually really terrible in the car. Not enough bass and the higher the volume the more the mids are shitty. Worse stereo system from JBL. I had to enhance my whole system aftermarket and it sounds amazing now with a sub and amp and other things. The car has effortless power at high speeds and passing. Where it out shines is the handling. Taking those corners at high speeds 90mph, the car is simply planted to the ground. No rolling or sliding at all. Spacious on the inside and roomy. Navigation and graphics are shitty but bearable so therefore use Apple Play. Overall 51k for a loaded Lexus ES F-Sport Vs. 40k im saving my 11k.

Awesome car mate! I guess I didn't test the JBL outside of podcasts in which I really enjoyed the sound quality lol - my bad. Remember a well-equipped Lexus ES 350 F sport can be had for around 47k which will have Mark Lev, Heated st wheel, Ventilated seats, W/S wiper de-icer. Adding HUD, Pano Roof, Nav, Trips isn't necessary for 51k. At 40k TRD Av is a good catch -congrats.
@mrsj1417

Of course you're saving 11k - it's a Toyota. And unfortunately, an Avalon on top of it. A Camry would've saved you even more. Yaris, even more still. All that aside, I could never, ever look at that ridiculous tablet glued to the dash every day.
@aritruths1452
@aritruths1452 3 жыл бұрын
@@mrsj1417 Avalon and ES rides on the same platform if your unaware. The Avalon is just as luxury the limited trim and have all types of perks. That TOUCH SCREEN tablet is more convenient than that remote control in the ES. 11k is a big significant amount between cars if you know finances. If your going to criticize about something its best you think twice and then just shut your mouth completely up!

I would either go for the Lexus ES350 F Sport or Avalon Touring (more options and adjustable suspension compared to the TRD). Good thing is 1-2 year old Avalons with 15k miles are like 30-33k (Touring models that had MSRP as high or higher than TRD version) used which is even a better way to go. Even a 1 to 2 year old ES can be had for as low as 33k.

My dad‘s 2005 Avalon with that time was the brand new 3.5 L that they just added to the Avalon that thing was a freaking powerhouse, but didn’t have traction control and you go around the corner and the computer would try to limit throttle and or brake but it would just lay rubber then when my dad ordered his 2007 touring model Avalon it came with the availability of traction control I believe it was an available option at the time.....and killed the power off the line of the car, i’d say a good half a second or so maybe a little bit more compared to the 2005 model he had ! Either that or they did something with the engine tuning???

That is an interesting thing about these high end “sporty” sedan offerings; they compete with entry luxury options from the same company. Same thing with the Maxima SR (Nissan Gang) and the Q50, or the Kia Stinger vs a G70; the luxury counterparts offer either a bit more as a product or all around better performance (case with the Q50 since thats the 350Z chasis and RWD vs the Maxima FWD) My guess as too why these high margin “name brand” sedans are allowed for go such high costs, and its the marketing. The same thing that attracts buyers to a luxury brand might intimidate a shopper from that. Having the luxury and performance without the stigma is what something like an Avalon TRD offers

Kirk, who is Toyota marketing the Avalon to/for? I have always thought this car was understated and overlooked. I hate the grill, lack of vent seats, Apple CarPlay and at this price point, I'd go Lexus, even certified Lex. As for "napability" or hip room, I guess you won't be birthing no babies in the back. :o) Excellent review (as always!)

Kirk great objective conclusion comparing the value of the TRD Avalon to the Lexus ES. Glad to see you're not a "YES" guy for getting a press car. There is no value proposition for the Avalon TRD when there is no engine power enhancement which is the soul of the car. It's purely cosmetic and you're paying more to be "pretty" (not for my eyes). It's a confused car.
@syxepop
@syxepop 3 жыл бұрын
Kirk, the issue with a large FWD-biased sedan is A DIFIUSED IDENTITY... (Am I a Charger or "Grampa's car"?). Even the Chevy (Commodore) SS couldn't cure that (it costed about the same as this new Avalon TRD back a few years ago, but with RWD and the 415hp NA-LS 6.2L V8 (magnetic dampers also optional in later years). The "napability issue" seems to stem from the TOO THICK SEATBACK (it doesn't make the cargo area ANYWHERE CLOSE TO FLUSH with the trunk bottom). Honestly what it needs is for the Avalon to get the old GS RWD platform to separate it from both the ES and the Camry and then it'd get a GR version (this is probably one of the few cases where RWD in the mainstream brand could sell better than on the luxury brand).

@@KirkKreifels, recent new sub and like your reviews. Thinking about that remote start work around had me wondering about my 2018 Camry XSE with dealer installed remote start and the push button ignition, why the car shuts off when you open the doors and have to restart it all over again, isn’t this counter productive and increase wear on the starting system? Previous keyed ignition cars with remote start wouldn’t do that, but if you didn’t have the key that car wouldn’t be going anywhere. So what’s the reasoning for this “improvement”?😏

Toyota keeps messing up, (dont get me started on the A90 "Supra") but like why you going to offer TRD and not do anything with it, it needs more power. I was just watching a new 2021 TLX A Spec review vs the Camry, and the fact that people are comparing the TL or TLX to be a nicer Accord is just so wrong, why aren't we talking about how right Acura got the 4th Gen TL with the SH-AWD. That thing was a car that people weren't ready for from Acura I think it had 305 HP and 274TQ, that is no Accord. My point is it's sad that a 7 year old car that never got any love can out drive, out power, and out handle most sedans today.
