My cousin owned a 1990 Corolla 4WD wagon. Amazing car that lasted 400,000k. He always lamented the demise of the Corolla wagon and is delighted it has been revived. This seems to be an absolute ripper of a car

Indeed, but CC has had to adopt to the "first drive/look" format of its rivals to compete - which I don't like. If I want that, I'd read an article.

Thanks for the feedback. This year we’ve been experimenting a lot with format, what keeps people watching, what leads to people interacting more with us. What we’re never leaving behind is independent analysis without fear/favour and content filled with useful little nuggets of intel. Hopefully that much is obvious. Still, taken on board!

Checking Toyota Japan webisite and find that, the 2022 facelift Corolla Cross [4WD, 1.8L + Motor, Hybrid] with old 7 inches driver display is 3,199,000 Yen, which is less than 34,000 AUD. While in Australia, the entry leve GX, FWD, 2.0 L Hybrid is almost 40,000 AUD comparing to the entry level in Japan, only 2,590,000 Yen, which is less than 27,500 AUD.

Called the dealer the other day thinking this one would come sooner since I have been waiting 8 months for my Rav4 and they came back like: "Hybrids would have similar wait time". Im like: Nope.

I cancelled my RAV4 XSE Hybrid AWD for a GXL 2WD Hybrid Corolla Cross. Realistically it makes total sense. About 8 months wait time. Priced very competitvely I think. Has all the new tech the Rav4 will have in its updated model. The corolla has been around for a long time.

Interesting how the 2WD versions have a smaller 36L fuel tank compared to the 43L tank on the AWD. Working through the numbers the range is still pretty decent but that's also assuming you're doing a lot of driving in urban enrionments. Does it mean that long distance getaways may require more fuel stops?

Thanks, Curt. A couple of queries re the AWD Hybrid version: A) 0-100 kph? B) Does it have a space saver or full size spare wheel?
@chasingcars
@chasingcars Жыл бұрын
No problem: 1. 0-100km/h time is quoted at 7.7sec. We will independently test this soon. 2. AWD variants have no spare wheel - but 2WD petrol and 2WD hybrid get a spare.
@damo5701
@damo5701 Жыл бұрын
AWD would seem a waste of money in this, it's limited by only have the electric motor (no engine power) on the rear axle, not enough grunt to make traction an issue, plus I suspect many buyers would have no requirement in the majority of use cases. Perhaps the IRS rear end adds some value? 2wd versions seem a better proposition, GXL 2wd Hybrid is best value, the Atmos 2wd Hybrid is the best if you desire the extra features.
