Long and short of TPMS light blinking. You don't really have to worry about WHICH wheel
is bad and not transmitting air pressure and temperature.
HAVE THE TIRE STORE REPLACE ALL 4 SENSORS and code the sensor ID's into the Prius.
If One sensor went bad the rest will SOON follow and go bad.
YOU ARE DONE. Amber tire light LIGHT will be OUT.
Just take the car in to the tire store. NOT THE DEALER. Unless you are RICH.
===================
So here is the hard way to do it.
Might save you some money and might not:
How to LOCATE the DEAD wheel sensor.
Cliff Notes: Use a SHORT antenna and hold NEAR the Wheel Sensor WHICH IS the air filling stem
that you attach the air pump to.
If your Prius TPMS light is blinking - this PROBABLY means a TPMS Tire pressure sensor has done DEAD because the battery is worn out.
These TPMS sensors transmit a radio signal every one minute on 315.000 Mhz
Some nice person wrote a program called RTL_433 which decodes the radio signal and the information the Toyota TPMS wheel sensor is sending.
Here is how to read that information.
Equipment needed:
1) Apple Macbook laptop. Any Apple laptop with old fashioned USB port will work - the big USB ports
2) RTL-SDR dongle from Amazon
Here is the URL to order the RTL SDR dongle
www.amazon.com/MOUDOAUER-RTL2...
3) a cable to attach to the RTL-SDR
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...
4) Install RTL_433 program into your macbook with brew.
github.com/merbanan/rtl_433
5) Run rtl_433 from a terminal window like this: rtl_433 -M level -f 315000000
6) Put the antenna NEAR the spot on the tire where the air goes in. THIS is the TPMS sensor.
Hold the antenna there.
7) You will get output like this every minute IF the sensor is working:
time : 2024-06-20 11:35:19
model : PMV-107J type : TPMS id : 067ef7a2
status : 16 battery_ok: 1 counter : 2 failed : OK pressure_kPa: 292.640
temperature_C: 40.000 Integrity : CRC
Modulation: FSK Freq1 : 315.0 MHz Freq2 : 314.9 MHz
RSSI : -1.2 dB SNR : 29.4 dB Noise : -30.7 dB
battery_ok: 0 iS BAD. Battery will die soon.
Note the id: 067ef7a2
You need 4 of these ID's. One for each wheel.
These are programmed into the PRIUS with an OBD2 device.
Then the TPMS Orange light will go OUT.
