Жыл бұрынToyota Sequoia owners know the pain on the rear hatch or rear tail gate of these SUVs. Great vehicles but with this solution the door lock can still function and no pesky cable and latch that don't want to work. If you want to see a detailed video on this repair leave a comment below

There's several on youtube. One guy even sells a kit 'How to fix Your Broken Rear Latch On Your 1st gen 2001-2007 Toyota Sequoia'

@@woodfamily5229 It was a bent piece of metal with a drilled hole. The video shows it very clearly and how to install it. Wouldn't be hard to duplicate.

Can it still be locked? Especially with the key fob? How secure is this? Thanx for all the detailed info...

Yes you can still lock it, the "handle" is mounted where the cable normally would go ... thank you for watching

Hey man. Just did this mod. Absolute gamechanger. One question pertaining to the lock part though. When I press the lock button on my driver's door panel it locks all the doors but I can still open the tailgate even with all the rest of the truck locked. Even when I ran the cable to the outside where the license plate sits and pulled the cable by hand, it would still lock meaning I had to press the unlock button to be able to pull the cable. Any idea why this is? All harnesses are connected. Not sure why it's not locking

@@nickhoffman1743the lock actuator is sticking on the mechanism slot or just going bad. Mine doesn’t lock but it doesn’t matter…know one knows where the new latch is

I did this mod and it worked but now it wont open because the electronic lock is stuck any suggestions on getting it unstuck.

You just have to take the back panel off from the inside and then you should be able to get to it ... thank you for watching

A flat tip screwdriver through the rusty slot, and you got yourself a 2002 sequoia!😂 It is a good idea though

I got an 08 hooptie I'm putting a back glass in as we speak because my horse kicked a rock into it and shattered!. Another good way of entry🤣🤣🤣

I can't remember but you have to take the lock mechanism out anyway so find one that fits ... thank you for watching

Try m6 1.0 to start and get one size smaller. I’d say smaller than 20mm length too

Yes you should be able to lock it. The little metal tab is bolted on where the latch cable normally goes
