Watch a tutorial as a Toyota Tacoma / 4Runner will have a new pair of 6.5" NVX Component speakers installed on the front doors. We will be using the NVX VSP65KIT component speaker and tweeter pair. In addition, this install includes how to remove the factory door panel, wire and install the speakers, and testing.

Mounted Hertz audio 3 ways in may last car and put the crossovers in the door. They lasted 7 years but the heat and vibration and opening/closing the doors caused the internals to come loose over time and they basically fell apart. Future installs I'd prefer to mount the crossovers inside the car if at all possible...

Great video...thank you, I need to replace all of the speakers in my 2008 Urban Runner, I just installed an Alpine iLX-W650 head unit. Which speakers do you recommend for the rear doors? Does NVX make the matching pair for the rear?

Can I use an aftermarket coaxial 6x9 with separate 1"dome tweeters at the tweeter location (they have their own crossovers, bass blockers) on a similar 4 runner (2007). I guess my question is do the 6X9's get a full range signal from the factory head unit or are they crossed over internally or at the tweeter location? Also by usial a co-axial 6x9 are there any worries about the impedience being two low for the factory head unit?

Problem is on my Tundra the tweets are in dash! I wish they were set up like this instead to make wiring easier.

Hi, I have installed Pioneer AVH 3300BT in my 2004 4runner. If I want to upgrade my speakers and tweeters, do I have to install the crossover too like you did ? Or I can just install 6x9 coaxial and tweeters and would be fine? And do I need an adapter bracket with all the aftermarket speakers? I would I know that I need one?

do i need a crossover if new radio (jvc kw-v250bt) has them in radio? going to replace my whole audio system so i need to know before i buy parts i dont need

I used den metra adapters on a F150 but da wires wer crossed as for da black on da adapter was actually da positive on da speakers so I had to crisscross dem so don't always depend on da adapters lol also I used da Vsp 6x8 nvx & dey sound awesome specially after crossing da leads da rite way thanks keep up da gd. Vids...

If its not the best way to mount the cross over then why do it? I'd be worried about something rattling on a bumpy road.

Thanks for the video! I have an 04 4Runner that I'm about to drop component Infinity References into and I had major questions about the crossover stuff that you answered. I'd love to just use some 3M VHB tape, but if zip ties really work for that and it doesn't rattle, I'm just inclined to do that. A year on, do you hear it rattling at all in there?

@@marshallkobe For my 08 4runner, i literally use the old speakers as a base! it was perfect! I mean insane fit. add some epoxy/ glue to hold it but it was such a tight fit all I had to do was remove the old speaker, punch it out leaving the frame there, use some pliers to cut through some plastic and drop my new LARGE speakers in and omg , amazing. saved some money! lol

Are you using an amp for those speakers? Is it really worth the upgrade? I have an 06 runner with stock speakers and they sound decent to me but I also am using the stock deck, would it make a difference to upgrade?

Can I install coaxial 6x9s and replace the tweeter using the wire adapters or does it only work with coaxial

Yes, just pay attention to your ohm load. Aftermarket radios are pretty versatile in accommodating various ohm loads, but factory radios may not be so much. If you wire the 6x9 and tweeter in parallel, it will drop the impedance and your radio may not be able to handle it, so i'd just double check.

Also which sounded better the pioneer 6x9 or the nvx 6.5?

Generally critics say the 6x9 has a better bass response but the 6.5's are built more for SQ. Up to you.

I'm confused, is the woofer not plugged into the crossover? looks like you plugged it into the stock woofer plug that you earlier cut out of the system where it comes out of the tweeter.

where is the cars original cross over fitted, i know you are fitting the new crossover in the door ?

In the door. There isn't much space, so alternatively, i recommend a component set without a shared crossover network for simplicity kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pr2clNZqvbfUgGw.html.

I woulda wrapped it in foam. Once panel back on it gets sandwiched in foam

Can I replace the tweeters straight up, without the cross over thingy?? Do I need a wiring adaptor??

You always need a crossover, unless the tweeters you choose already have a built in passive crossover. Without a crossover, you will blow them out.

I will be right at 75 watts RMS . should i run new wires?

That's the golden question. When in doubt, just run new wire. However, that's your call and just note you will not be running 75 watts constantly, so you can still be fine with keeping the factory wiring.

Filter certain frequencies to the speakers to avoid distortion. Tweeters can only handle higher frequencies, mid range speakers and only handle mid range frequencies to put it simply. Without out them, you risk blowing speakers.
