Thanks for the video. I will likely have my local garage do the oil changes on my 2017 Prius Prime. I have purchased the correct oil filter cup wrench, identical to the one you used, except mine came in black. I don't want my local garage switching to a spin-on filter so I may lend them the cup wrench for the OEM Toyota oil filter housing in case they don't have one.

Taking the vanity cover off is incredibly helpful, I have experienced... I can wipe the dust off underneath the cover...

Hello! I have watched your videos about prius oil change and replacing the filter. This was helpful for me to understand where the filter housing is and how accessible it is. I have a 2014 prius which has 183,000 miles on it (I work in hospice and drive it daily for work). My mechanic whom I have taken the car for regular service for 5 years now told me today that the "oil filter housing is worn out. recommend replacing at next service" which would be in two months. I can see how the housing cap gets damaged by a person over-torquing, but can the actual housing piece be damaged and require replacement? They estimate $435 labor and $260 parts. I have asked for them to elaborate on what "worn out" means. It is a lot of money to me and I cannot tell if they damaged it and pass along the cost to me, or if it isn't damaged, but how would I know?

Awesome video thumbs upped and subscribed!!!Just bought a 2011 Prius and learning the car and because of your awesome video I am getting ready to change the oil. So the torque specification for the oil filter is 25 and for the oil drain plug screw is 40? I will double check my manual and make sure it's the same or correct it might be vehicle specific. Great snap on tool too!! Thanks for the video!!

It’s been 2.5 years since my last synthetic oil change. I must have driven < 1K miles in the same period. The maintenance light or oil change light has not come on yet. Should I change the oil now or wait for the maintenance light to come on?

Now I know I can't do it myself. I hope that you, or someone like you, works at my local walmart.
