Dan Veall plugs into the ELF bass amplifier and 2x8 400W cabinet. Weighing just 1.6 pounds, this revolutionary amp head fits in your back pocket, and could be the ideal solution for any bassist who is concerned with size and weight, but isn’t willing to compromise on tone or performance.

My bass player just picked this up and sounds insane and plenty of power and will fit in your carry on or guitar case for all your fly gigs.

Nice review. I just got myself the same rig. It's plenty loud with enough low end to satisfy. These speakers are incredible. I thrash metal doom it with great results, love it.

ok, reading through the comments i think i can answer some questions. i have the elf with a transit b. 2 2x8 and a 1x10 cab. i m a musicman player so active. i'm currently in a rock scenario. here's my personal taste. i find running the input gain anything less than 3 oclock lacks ass. 4 oclock and it's very punchy. i run the transit b in front for the compressor and pre shape. driving the input of the B, with the output at 9 oclock and you don't even have to turn the amp past 1. it's that loud with 2 cabs. i run a 1x10 with the 2x8 stacked or sometimes i run 2 2x8s like a mini 4x10. running 2 cabs really fattens up the tone. 4ohms instead of 8. i don't do it for volume as much as it helps the tone. side note. just the head and 2 cabs is great too. you don't really need the transit b it just gives you more options. hope some of this helps

Hi, im thinking about getting the ELF 200w + the 1x10 cab, can you share any thoughts on how it sounds? Its hard to find a decent demo online.

OK I am going to proove my ignorance here. If the ELF only has one speaker output how do you connect two cabs? The cab only has two inputs shown at 1:00 to 1:10 not an output to connect to another cab?? Is it you just run a cable from an input to an input to connect?

i also wonder as the question down the row... How do you add more than one cabinet to the ELF? i.e. The 2 x 8 and two 1 x 10 cabinets? A total of four speakers. And how do you connect the speakers wit only one cable from the top? Split cables or what?

TE have developed their products far beyond what my trusty old AH300-GP12 and 4x10 pain cube used to be. Individually those were Ampeg territory when it came to weight, but really you can't compare them. I'd totally have my AH300 and 4x10 back if I could.

the cabs have 2 parallel inputs on the back. i have 2 2x8s and a 1x10. i run 2 cabs interchanging the 10 for the 8s depending on mood and gig. when you run two cabs, it gets much beafier. i dont' even do for more volume it's just fuller

Peavey should make an 800w rms version of the elf head, that'll do 400w rms at 8 ohms and 800w rms at 4 ohms so people can actually get the most out of those 2x8 cabinets, it literally makes no sense that they offer 8 ohm cabinets that handle 400w rms with a head that does 135w rms at 8 ohms... so much potential thats wasted... with the mini elf head, they should offer a single "8 version of the 2x8 cabinet that's 4 ohms, that'll handle the full 200w rms out of it, faital could custom make 4 ohm versions of those 16 ohm 8" drivers, they already offer 8 ohm versions of them, a smaller micro cabinet like that would be a far better match for the micro elf head, especially for those who can't lift much, "for some people even 27 pounds can be a challenge" Plus the single 8" driver cabinet could be made to be only about 13 - 14lbs and STILL sound great, the model they got going is great, but poorly thought out as far as product planning goes, the stuff that they have currently is well designed, but there is so much more they could be doing to expand the trace elliot line...... Now then, as far as the bigger elf goes "that they SHOULD make", I'D pay the 700 bucks for a high quality bigger version of the mini elf to actually power those 2x8 cabinets correctly... idk what they're design teams are thinking over there, but it's really not hard to execute something so simple that could be truly great... no offense guy's, but please do these thing's, there are a lot of people out there who would appreciate something like this...
