Get yourself a Tempo Tone Tester - mine has saved hours of work. It's in two bits - one generates an audible tone that you attach to the wire. The other is a probe that lets you follow the tone on the wire until it stops at a break. Intended for Telecoms but mine has proved invaluable for mains wiring, wiring on my JCB and even occassionally on telephone wires!

Along with those crimps, get a bucket of double sided crimp cable joiners, The same thing as those crimp on pins you used but just the cable part mirrored. My preferred way of joining any cables. You can be sure of a good connection that way.

I've made test leads myself but I've never stuffed them into a length of shrink tube. That's a handy tip, thanks Professor!

Years ago my grandpa had a 1930 coupe. He said that windows always rolled down 60 years after they were made. When he had his Crown Victoria (1990) they stopped after 5 years. That stuck with me. Something to be said about keeping things simple. Nice job with the test lead! WD40 makes a gel lubricant and it doesn't flow and drip like the liquid stuff but still has the same great smell. I love your videos! They're inspiring and motivating to get my D90 put back together.
