I demonstrate all of the new Track Mode V2 software features in the Tesla Model 3 Performance along with how to download and view all of the telemetry data from the car. I also test 0-60 MPH for full rear wheel drive bias and front wheel drive bias.

Love my late 2019 Model 3 Performance. People that don’t own one don’t get how amazing this car is. I’ve owned a number of cars over the years and frequently change out what cars I have in my garage but one thing I’m 100% sure of is I will always own a Tesla Model 3 Performance. In my eyes, this car is THAT good, while being the ultimate daily driver. Great video, thanks!

Ridiculous that it isn't simply set as you want it. Damn control freaks wanting to half say yes, but still say no. Just let go, you weirdos, I simply can't buy a Tesla while Big Brother Elon wants to micro manage my driving. This car has so much potential, but ruined in so many ways.

@@romansenger2322 No shit Sherlock. These motors have a shit ton of power and torque, and yet won't lay burnouts? They are CUTTING the power electronically, and there is no way to turn off the micro-management 100%. Absolute control freak stupidity. Yeah sure, for everyday driving, we want the electronic stability control on for safety reasons. But sometimes, when you have space and are away from traffic, and know what you're doing, you want to have a bit of fun, and not have that fun spoiled by some pointy head control freak manager at Tesla. Basically it's called "track mode" but nope, it isn't " full track mode", it's actually "grandma/big-brother mommy-is-holding-your-hand partial track mode". This is one of many reasons I have no interest in buying a Tesla. I was super excited about them when they came out, but that excitement has died. When I heard of "track mode", I was thinking oh wow, this could be cool, but then when I looked into it I was so disappointed.

Some tips: Try to always look where you want your front end to go, not where it is going. Is the only way you have to react correctly on the steering and recover the drift. Try to keep your hands at 9:15 with no exceptions. You might need to turn the wheel more that 180°... in that case one hand goes off the wheel, the other keeps turning but your left hand stays on left spoke and right hand on right spoke. It take a while to get used to but once you make it natural it's just night and day. Thats the only way we have to use the right amount of steering angle and understand what is the car doing. Throttle control will come alone once you act correctly on the steering and with your eyes. Car control is 90% technique... than there is talent that make you fast in a track. Unlikely I'm stuck at home because of the virus but I've briefely tested the track mode V2 on my M3P and it is such an easy car to drift and have fun with that it really deserves to work on our personal skill and take advantage of it!

@@MB7_7 These traditional media videos get ridiculed for allot of creative editing. These outlets cater to paid advertisers and dislike companies that don't support that traditional business model, so Tesla would be at a disadvantage here when compared to a sponsor. Having said that, the Taycan should do slightly better than the Model S in the 0-60mph, and then perform like the more nimble Model 3 on the track thanks to its wider tires, which is a good combination. In an endurance race, though, it would run out of charge much faster than a Model S, but that usually isn't a concern on the track. It'll cost $180k to get there though, the lesser trims are closer to Model 3 competition, so you get what you pay for. I'd be curious to see how Tesla responds to this with their upcoming Plaid mode that employs wider tires as well, they still wont have the second gear advantages but should be interesting to test on a track, the prototypes are already hitting new records. I expect the price to come close to this Taycan though when it's available, kinda expensive. Model 3 seems to be the best bang for the buck all things considered.

I have a 2022 Model 3 Performance with aftermarket lighter wheels (custom Arachnid from TSportline that are staggered 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear) and very happy to know what my car can do. But, I am not really going to do any of these stunts any time soon, I am not about to destroy my tires in a few minutes. I might do some testing and have some fun when the tires are done and I am ready to replace them, then sure, why not. But for now, just enjoying the ride, hitting 0 to 60 MPH in 3 seconds and letting the computer keep me and my family safe. Believe me, this car is fun to drive and is faster than most cars out there. Only some exotic cars and muscle cars are actually faster than the Model 3 Performance when it comes to 0 to 60 acceleration. Even if you get to be next to some of then, you can pretty much stay next to them when they step on it, making you feel good that you only spent around$65K on a very technologically advanced car while they spent double or much more just to be a little bit faster. The only real car that can make you feel extra special is the Model S Plaid, if you can afford around $130K or more. If you think of it, is just double the price tag of a Model 3 Performance, and it gets you a 0 to 60 MPH in 2 seconds car. So, still a bargain and is basically the fastest production car in the world (well second if you count the Rimac Nevera which is a bit faster) until the new Roadster hits the market which, if correct, should do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds and with the SpaceX package (if it is true), 1.1 seconds (INSANE!). How the hell did you miss to make a test with 50:50 handling balance. This would have shown if there is a difference between sport and track mode.

Pretty funny - a drag guy trying to turn and losing it. With oversteer, ie rear wheel bias, try not to lift in the corner and countersteer.

It doesn’t matter if it’s in front or rear wheel drive, whenever you have the steering wheel straight it automatically switches to 50/50 to give you the best performance in a straight line. But the second you turn the wheel it switched back to your preset.

Why not use modbus dongle to read out the internal variables. You'll see there how the rear or front bias works, if it's totally rear or front.

The front motor is induction, your power motor. The rear is permanent magnet, your efficiency motor. Makes sense that front only was quicker than rear only.

The rear motor however is more powerful. I believe the split is close to 200hp front 300hp rear.

Yeah but why would you want to disable all that stuff and put the power to the rear when it gets slower and harder to handle? 😅

I think it was Vehicle Virgins who was 1 of the 4 invited and he asked the engineers and said the rear/front bias only takes place when your steering is off center. In 0-60 that’s not the case.

Pretty much I would think you need all power to all wheels and motors to get fastest times. For rear bias and front you couldn't get all electric power to motors. A torque vectoring cas usually can go rear wheel etc somewhat because it's gas. But electric you still would need a e motor that can deal with more power or handling. Not sure only played with Tesla's a few times but electric is electric. Love the acceleration but it's a whole different world compared to gas engines and controlling power. So what's easier to predict Brooks gas or the electric nannies.

Bro. That just seems like I'd be dropping my car and laptop off to you.. lol. Fuck that. I like putting gas in my car. Switching which tune I want or what mode I want. Hit the gas and go.. lol. Stay safe man.
