I’m not sure on skid steers but my tractor says loader and 3pt down and all cylinders should be retracted in and on level ground to check hydro fluid... Either way awesome job getting it fixed saved you a lot of money and whole lot of time waiting for dealer/shop to do it for you!

When I bought my JD skid steer the first thing I did was get under the cab and check it out. It had been used for a horse riding arena and the entire bottom was completely full of horse manure, hay, saw dust, mud and sand about 6 inches deep. It took five days to get it all cleaned out. Glad for you that it was only a hose and you didn’t ruin your pump.

The correct way to check hydraulic fluid is to have all fluid return to tank by having all arms and attachments in the down position,.. I have owned several skid steers from Cat 259D to now a 2020 Bobcat T76

I always thought your loader had to be down while checking fluid... that way when its full and you lower your loader the extra oil from the cylinder has somewhere to go besides vent out and make a mess.
@StoneyRidgeFarmer
@StoneyRidgeFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
I've been told warm up the machine....raise the loader arms and get it within operating range. Now....operating range is a very wide mark on the dipstick. This machine also has a "low hydraulic fluid" light on it....once I got it back together somehow something went wrong with the linkage too! Ahhhh....I guess it's better than buying a new one for $50k

My Deere 260 has constant hydraulic leaks as well as my friends 250. You will become quite antiquated with your lines and o rings. In fact I just tried stop trade it in on a kubota and the dealer has little interest because "those machines all leak so much hydraulic oil" Glad you got it repaired! Your hydraulic dipstick should say check with boom down. As stated earlier it could over flow your tank when you put the arms down.

hydraulic lines make a machine exciting to run. I have had to replace a lot of mine on my old tractor. I have learn to keep a good eye on them. They do keep a nice rust preventative when they blow out lol. If your lucky you can still move it. Now I keep a few on hand just for get me by repairs. So I can get it to a place to work on it for final repairs. Thanks for the great tips on hose replacement. Hope it wasn't too expensive. 3M makes safety arm guards to protect employees from cuts. I have been thinking of using my old ones to protect my hydraulic lines from rubbing with them or any hose. They are made from Kevlar. Just thought it may help ya someday. Have a great week.

Im paused at 3:57 my guess is for it to be coming out of so many places at once, Im going to say A . Something is spraying, Im betting either a cracked filter housing, or a split hose. Fluid heats up gets thinner, sprays more, hoses also heat up so any crack also sprays more. My guess..... a cracked hose. Onward to see what we come up with...... Edit, NAILED IT a hose GOING TO THE FILTER HOUSING LOLOLOL I mean, how close can you expect me to get without actually getting under it lol. Why cant my real life be like that lol. Hydraulics can be intimidating for the average DIY'er but Im glad to see you diving in, it really isnt that complicated until you get into computer controlled hydraulics and coefficients and K factors lol then it gets nuts!!

Peter...I quit watching news channels all together and am a much happier person for it. Time's are changing for sure...it's a shame when the news media has the sky constantly falling...I think it's causing the American people to doubt and be on guard ready to fight each other. Completely ridiculous drama....my cows don't seem to mind either way...nor do my chickens. I was talking to a neighbor who remembered the great depression days....he said to me "It didn't matter, depression or no depression ....we were just as poor" I hope this channel is a place for folks to escape the politics of the world....at least we'll have one place that folks aren't shoving ideals and religion down your throat when ya come to the Stoney Ridge.....I hope. Thanks for commenting Peter...I know you've been with me for a long time buddy...I appreciate it

I hate skidloaders. Seems like a endless task fixing them. They just don't age well.

Well....we've had to replace 2 lines on this one...beats spending $50-80k on a new one. Stuff is constantly breaking on the farm...just part of it I guess
