Time to do the pre-winter maintenance on the tractor. In this video we will change the engine oil and filter, the front axle case oil, clean the hubs, change the air filter and the fuel filter.
The tractor is a 2008 Kioti DK45SE.
The engine oil I used is Shell Rotella T6 0w-40 full synthetic.
The gear oil is Shell Spirax 80w-90.
Filters were standard Kioti brand filters.

Watching from my Cabin in Ontario. Great maintenance video. Just picked up my new (old 1990) Tractor. It’s a Kubota L3350. Love it , it’s like a little tank. Gonna be great for loading my Band Sawmill I’m building. Do me a favour Dale. Don’t stand under the bucket when it’s in the air, if a line blows you are pooched. And put some cribbing under that front axle. I work in a Heavy Equipment shop and seen and heard some bad shit. Enough of the negative shit, great video as always. God bless and be safe. Oh ya, I’m looking for a wabbit or two for a soup, they seemed to have all disappeared from my 100 acres. 😜

I have a 20 year old DK45 with the backhoe attachment. It had a bad engine when I bought it for cheap 9 years ago. I had to get a long block from Korea. $10,000 installed by a dealer. But I have a $50k machine for about $18,000 invested. It has paid for itself many times over.

It’s really interesting 🤔 how the different manufacturers of tractors have there consumables in different locations on the tractor like oil filters for example, on the Massey Ferguson 188, the last time I did the oil change on it, it was vertically mounted and to save a bit of time my boss at the time said to fill up the filter before putting the rest of the oil in the sump then of course start up let it run for about ten minutes and check the level, add more if necessary, but that was a long time ago now and things change and I have been away from the agricultural scene for too long, but still a good little video with some very useful tips that you use when you need to give your tractor a pre season service.

Hi my friend!!😀😀 Nice job on doing the maintenance. I don't believe I would even consider taking the hubs apart when the oil comes out as clean as yours did. As long as there is no metal on the bottom plug there is no reason to. I have been using Shell Rotella T full synthetic 5w40 motor oil year round in all of my logging equipment and my Cummins in my pickup for over 20 years. Everything always has almost instant oil pressure even in 20 below zero farenheit. I have never had a motor oil related failure ever in any of my equipment. It is definitely the way to go. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

Great content and it's nice to see someone taking care of their equipment. I'm currently working on my stepdad's DK55 Kioti. It has 1100hrs and I hate to say this but the maintenance hasn't been done correctly since the day it was purchased. This is the 1st time I've actually used the machine, had to clear small piece of property for a dog run. It's lived most of it's life under a pole barn at the hunting camp. Being raised in the logging woods I'm a firm believer in greasing and checking fluids and for the most part fluids were good but not one pin would take grease on the Woods 1020 front loader w/quick detach. I set out pulling fittings to discover grease that was so rock hard all the way to the pin in each one. I inquired when was it serviced last and my stepdad says, "they haven't taken grease since I bought it." It drives me crazy but I guess he used the 3 point more than anything else. Boom cylinder blew while doing some dirt work. Had trouble finding the seal kit but was able to get one and make the repair. So, now that it's been serviced and taking grease there are several other things I'm working on. The glow plugs aren't working, none of the lights including the console work. I have a spool valve cap that has a broken ear that is leaking. Haven't had much luck finding just the cap. I'm gonna try and solder it with a blue rod for dissimilar metals later td. Found decayed buss bar for the glow plugs but still trying to figure out the console lights, speedometer, fuel gauge. Even with all the issues it has accrued over the years I would say it's a good one. The only negative thing I can say is finding part# and schematics. I wish I could find a shop manual for it. When the time comes to purchase a new one that will be part of the deal. My step dad is a good man but just had knee replacement surgery so I'm just trying to pickup some of his work so that when he's finished rehabbing he will be able to enjoy hunting season and if I can fix most of what hasn't worked in forever on this tractor hopefully he will enjoy it a little more too. I've always used Rotella but now it's getting hard to find. Just recently changed oil cooler and some injectors on my 6.0 Super duty and was forced to use T5.

Yeah NB I have a 1986 Ford 1910 I bought new. It's just a basic 32 hp tractor no loader but does what I need a tractor auto do. I too use Rotella diesel oil for my tractor. I've always done the routine maintenance regularly and it has served me well. It has 2200 hrs now and no major repairs. Very seldom do I use my tractor when it's below 30 degrees. I use a solar trickle charger from Tractor Supply to maintain my battery during our fairly short winters here in Tennessee. Works great. Take care at the Cabin I"'ll see you in the next video.

Good Morning from snowy Northern Saskatchewan! Really love your tractor, and I have been looking into a Kioti now for my acreage. My little 26 HP Husqvarna with the 30" snowblower just isnt enough machine for the driveway I have (approx 150 yards). Like you, I am in the middle of nowhere, so my equipment keeps me alive. Take care of it and it will indeed take care of you. I agree with you on oil changes! I am a Quaker State guy and run 10-40 here with the -40 temps. Worth it to go full synthetic in these parts. I just put away my 2 summer tractors and winterized them...and now ready for this white stuff falling from the sky. Oh hey, reading through the comments, I saw that your 1st name is Dale. My son`s 1st name is also Dale. I thought that was pretty cool as Dale is not an overly used name. (I`m Jeff btw). Enjoy the cabin.

Very informative video Dale. Hey! If I had a Kioti...after this video maybe even a dumb, dumb like me could do some of what you explained. I wouldn’t bet the family farm on it though.😊 That manual though made me giggle. I had to immediately call my Brother-in-law (step-sister’s husband). Because...wait for it...he writes the manuals for Vermeer . We laughed and laughed. He said it was probably a translation error. I was like, I’m not so sure about that. He said after he writes and creates a manual for a piece of machinery, he sends it off to a company that translates it MANUALLY! Anyway, we both thank you for sharing that and giving us a laugh. 😁 There are a couple of things I would love to tease you about. But, I’ll keep it short and sweet this time. 😂 Ps... I enjoy your small talk. 😉

I have a DK 45 2005 model. Bought it in 2014. Less than a thousand hours when I got it and I have put nearly 4oo hours on it. No block heater and I am using the 15w 40 diesel engine oil. The tractor has always started well. I have never changed out the front axle oil nor wiped the hubs. I have changed all filters, oil usually once per year, fuel filter as needed, air filter as needed. I had problems with the ignition and changed that out. That ignition started giving me trouble last year again and I bypassed the key and went to push button start. The key only failed once since that change. I have replaced some hydraulic lines as the rubber rots. I also had a retaining ring break on the FEL, welded that and fried a grease zerk for my trouble. The tractor was used pretty hard before I got it and the FEL has some sloppiness to it but everything works. I live in NB right on the Bay of Fundy. Cold and windy in the winter. Well some might say cold and windy in the summer too lol. I have a 6 ft rotary cutter, post hole digger, and a 6 ft snow blower. All brand new 5 years ago and no issues with them. The tractor is my first and I would recommend Kioti to anyone. In fact I may buy a new one in a year or so and I think Kioti will be my choice. They come with a lot of features that are standard and the 40-60 HP range is a perfect size for the hobby farmer and small property manager. Strong enough to do big jobs and small enough to get around in the woods. Mine is open station like yours. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for the tips on tractors to guns. I live in Canada so hand guns are pretty much out of the question but I live rural and appreciate the fact that guns are necessary tools to keep varmints at bay.

@@NB88 I know what you mean Dale on my tractor when I change my hydraulic fluid it takes 13.75 gallons or 55 quarts , engine oil is 9 quarts, two air filters a smaller inner air filter then a outer air filter that goes over the smaller one , a diesel fuel filter, hydraulic filter , engine oil filter , by the time you walk out of the parts store/department makes you feel like DAMN ! THEY MADE MORE MONEY IN TEN THAN I DID ALL YEAR LONG ! Then you have to go back home an have a cold one and a moose steak. In my case here in Western Kentucky it’s a cold one an a deer blackstrap to get your heart rate and nerves settled back down. lol . Cheers to you buddy 🍻🍺

Thx much. I have a Bobcat CT440. Same tractor. Couldn’t tell if there was a spring under the fuel filter element. I never saw one in mine. Several mistakes in my owners manual. Seem to all be translation related. The layout grid for Service intervals is very poorly done. Very confusing.

I am looking at this very same model tractor. I have seen some problems with cracking of the loader arm by the pivots. See any of that?

New to your channel great job!! So do you run 0w40 synthetic all year ? I have a DK65S Kioti and find it starts hard in winter, I’m using 15w40 conventional. Very interesting! Thanks From NS Canada
