This is such a great video. Instead of complaining about Tim using yellow and green in his now old logo, JD should send him a salesman of the decade award. I've learned more about JD tractors from watching TTWT than I would visiting a dealership 1,000 times. Great seeing Pete too. Two great guys that are both experts in their respective fields.

Tim is literally a mirror image of me when it comes to tractors. He has the nerdy knowledge and the same passion. Everytime I hear him talk I'm like omg this is exactly almost word for word what I would say. It's because most people are not tractor nerds. We also do similar work except I have a 4044m. On that note, man I wish I had a 4066R or a cab 5075E like that. The 4066R is like the Cadillac of the tractor world. The 5075 is maybe not so much a Cadillac but it is a true big boy tractor. I just have no need for a 5 series. But that 4066r cab tractor would be a dream 😍🔥 Also have always had hydrostatic, my 3025e, my 4044m, I love it for dirt work, but sometimes I wish I had that extra grunt in low gear that you don't quite have with a hydrostat. But can't go wrong either way.

if you need a creeper speed the manual is better than hydro because set it and forget it my 55 year old tractor can go that speed all day just put it in gear and in a open field you could jump out and you could run sircles around it and i think on that note the shuttle shift is better for him and loader work is easy enough with it and less loss on the hp and better for ground work

Good job of determining what he needs! I was going to buy a 4 series but went with a Kubota solely because the JD dealer had a horrible reputation. And there weren’t but one (only one Kubota dealer too). You on the mainland are lucky to have more options! Also, if I knew then what I know now I’d have bought a different model and some different options. I kinda wonder what our dealers are like now! Would I have made a different color choice?

Based upon Pete’s description of needs I suggest a 4 series tractor. When I was in the selection process a few years back I found the TYM 574 HST Cab tractor to be the best value. I glad that James River took the time to help y’all out. I went there to by my first tractor. They only had two tractors on the lot and the sales staff was to busy to help. So I left and went to Collie Equipment and purchased a Kobota L3901, then two years later traded for a cab LX3310. The owner took the time to make sure I was buying the correct tractor for my needs. I will most likely never own a Deere do to both franchises around me never have time to work with the small customers.

I had the same issue in Delaware going to a deere dealer for mower parts so my son in law didn't have to bring his mower over while we were at our property in the Appalachian mountains. I had ordered the parts over the phone and was in my work clothes driving one of my old dodges. No one offered any assistance as I looked at some equipment on my way out that was in the show room. I then pulled across the street and looked at their used equipment a red one caught my eye 😁. Someone came out with a clipboard wrote some numbers and started to walk away so I asked about the price for the red tractor and was told to write the invoice number down and bring it inside and someone would look it up....everyone had radios on them I was one of only 3 customers I saw in the 40 minutes I was there. Yes I have been looking for the right piece of equipment to have in the mountains and nothing new seems to fit my needs

I think I’d have to disagree with the hydro vs. shuttle transmission. I have many hours on both options across many brands. The shuttle shift is better when needing a consistant speed using an implement. Hydro is much better for loader work. Hydro is much more user friendly for someone not familiar with equipment.

You really didn't seam to stress he needs a tractor as light as possible to not leave ruts in the turf outfield and dirt infield, yet big enough to move pallets and sand/dirt. Large wide tires/light tractor/No fluid in tires/ballast only when using loader. Maybe a 2 tractor solution is what he really needs? Or does his existing Vintrac count as that first tractor?

He will like the kubota loader control better. But also for the money and value a TYM would meet alot of his needs and be several thousand dollars less. 47 hp tym T474 would be equal to the 3046r or the TYM 594 or 494 would be equal to the 4 series R models. TYM has a much higher loader and rear lift capacity and their hydrostatic is much quieter then the john deere

I have to admit I like all three and it would be hard choice to go with just one at this point. The biggest smile does come from the 5. Likely because it begins to get into the bigger tractor category. In our town, most are bigger than the 5. I bought I for mowing bigger areas and am setup for dirt / gravel road maintenance. I live in big wheat farms area hanging on hillsides. Toe curling. There are days I just go for a drive during harvest to watch the dance.

The golf course I've worked for has a CaseIH. I don't recall the "number" but I would say it is similar to the 4 series. Pretty sure it was 53 hp. It has a loader to load sand in their top dresser. TTWT - I was wondering about what his “Hauling” capacity was? The weights on the 4 series for sure mean bigger truck bigger trailer for daily use. 3 Series keeps you in the 1/2-3/4ton trailer under 10K, 4 series is 3/4-1ton with 15k trailer and likely longer length to accommodate attachments. I realize his tractor usage needs are first and foremost but if he stretches his budget on a 4series then realizes he needs bigger hauling set up 😅😅😅

Great comparison with Deere tractors! One of the best thought out decision comparisons I’ve seen! I wish my dealer would have gone in that much depth with me before I bought my first new tractor. Like ask questions of what my primary use for it was and what Else I’d be using it for! I did buy the right size tractor for my needs but I bought the lowest HP and manual trans…. Traded it in 6 years laters for More HP and an HST….bit of a costly mistake! Would be nice to do another comparison on Kubota tractors

Remember price is also value parts availability maintenance service and just product support and dealer location is all important in a major decision if you have a great deal on a machine and the dealership is 50 , or 75 miles away and all parts have to be ordered example fuel or oil filters or a belt is it really a deal down time is the most expensive cost of any machine no matter brand just a thought God bless

It is by far my preferred tractor. With AGCO owning MF. all that engineering is trickling down to MF. AGCO makes Fendt tractors which are the best most feature rich tractors made…. Period . I grew up green to the core but switched to New Holland after Fiat bought them 20 years ago. I much prefer European engineering and quality. Plus the dealer and MF support far exceed anything that I have ever experienced…. Especially from Massey Ferguson corporate reps…. They actually call you back.👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

Man I can't believe Tim and Christy follow so many of the same You Tube people that I follow. Lol I enjoy the collaboration video. Good point on extra hydraulics and ordering from the factory and/or dealer when purchasing a new tractor. You can wrap it into the deal if you are financing some of the purchase. Another nice thing is you can save on some labor when the dealer is doing an OEM install on multiple rear service hydraulics. In case of the Kubota Grand L series, the labor on 3 OEM levers is the same as one which is what we did. I also like how clean it looks on your work station. Pete may consider the Grand L as they are similar to the 4R series in the larger HP models. We have the smallest Grand L which is quite similar to the 3R series 🤔

I thought initially the four series HD would be a perfect fit, but I think you can’t get that option with a cab the little bit wider tires and heavier set up for sand would be really nice.
