My beautiful daughter had this song played during her “walk” when graduating from a rehab several years ago. She was determined to change, she wanted it so badly. Unfortunately, the disease of addiction is cunning… She lost her battle in March of this year. But I know this song has brought much-needed hope too many out there that are still sick and suffering. Amazing song. 💝

Not enough music industry accolades & lifetime acheivement awards have been given to this genuine humble singer songwriter. If you knew that you would die today Saw the face of God and love Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that love can break your heart When you're down so low you cannot fall Would you change? Would you change? How bad, how good does it need to get? How many losses? How much regret? What chain reaction would cause an effect? Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget Makes you change? Makes you change? If you knew that you would be alone Knowing right, being wrong Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that you would find a truth That brings up pain that can't be soothed Would you change? Would you change? How bad, how good does it need to get? How many losses? How much regret? What chain reaction would cause an effect? Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget Makes you change? Makes you change? Are you so upright you can't be bent? If it comes to blows Are you so sure you won't be crawling? If not for the good, why risk falling? Why risk falling? If everything you think you know Makes your life unbearable Would you change? Would you change? If you'd broken every rule and vow And hard times come to bring you down Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that you would die today If you saw the face of God and love Would you change? Would you change? Would you change? Would you change? @Chopper well, not to be the cynic but - hearts and minds don't change so quickly. If these people really cared about what's right and fair we wouldn't be in this mess. Time will tell where we end up in all this. One thing is for sure though, there are powerful people with a vested interest in keeping us all divided and at each other's throats. The only question is, will enough people realize it before it's too late.
@tatakainokaizen71404 жыл бұрын
@Chopper i've heard that example b4, and i've taken a good look at the privilege argument. I agree in so far as it's important to be thoughtful and consider the position of others. But there is a flaw with the privilege argument. All attributes (height, weight, income level, skin color, etc) come with Both upsides and downsides. The problem comes when one person presumes that people in the 'better off' category must have all upside. And the latter side in the 'worse off' category must have all downside. I feel this is a mistake, and oversimplification of our troubles. I want to play this song for both sides. I don't want just white people to think about how they could do things differently. In the black community we must learn to counteract the self-hate in our hearts. Learn to Love ourselves enough to research what's destroying our minds and bodies - to eat better, live better, and be better as a people. We got into this mess together. The only way out is for each side to really embrace and understand ourselves and our role in these issues. Really learn what each side has to offer, and cultivate those good things, minimize the downsides and forge a stronger unified country. That's my dream anyway.

i’m shocked this was even made into a music video (Where You Live) is a really good album it’s heartbreaking a woman with such limitless talent like Tracy Chapman has never been given a proper mainstream push..... Her music is real & pure
@paulosmeek62864 жыл бұрын
um what...she is one of the biggest artists in history and still is considered iconic - she played at Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday to a global audience of 200 million . She is mainstream in so much that she is endemic to the DNA of solo female artists today irrespective of how people might lament modern manufactured music. .. And not getting what you on about aside from affirming your comment the music is pure and real?!

Listen to crossroads and you'll know why they never pushed her.

@@dbartyzel I'll admit I haven't kept up on all Tracy's stuff But, her debut album & Where You live are strong albums.... Music in general is all about smoke & mirrors
@cherylbaker26674 жыл бұрын
@@dbartyzel .... Oh you're so correct! Crossroads is TRUTH 🌹 and overall people prefer lies! " The lyrics " All you demons go back to hell. Save my soul, save myself!" Tracy Chapman is true to her convictions! 🙏🕊️💖

She knows what really there and wants to stay next to god all the way through it she doesn’t need a push she needs to stay real, if she got that push her music wouldn’t be the same and wouldn’t have same affect on people where as she trying to gather and bring good souls to heaven is all

OMG. Tuned into Tracy Chapman at a sleepless 3 am . Going from one song to another and wondering where the hell this wonderful singer is today?! Hear her with Clapton on Give Me One Reason ...but there are so many songs ....

I saw them film this music video. I actually sat down and talked with Tracy. She actually is quite beautiful and I just melted into the chair every time she smiled as she spoke. She is a lovely person.

I don't want to start an argument, but this is, like, "Bob Dylan, hold my beer", really. To me, she is the greatest American folk singer songwriter ever. I was never moved by Dylan's songs the way I'm moved by her songs.

The poetry in her words and in her riffs leads me to feel everything she felt while writing her songs.
