"In 1974 I was the world's foremost female playing card manipulator. By default, actually. There was no other woman doing it at the time that I knew of. I'm talking about card fans and other various flourishes. I did a sketch with Johnny Carson (his character "El Mouldo,") and he brought me out to be on the panel right after it. This is a clip from that panel appearance."

Hundreds of people in the audience, countless thousands watching at home... and Johnny talks to her like they're the only two people in the room. THIS is why he always will be the greatest. AND, it REALLY allows me, as a viewer, to focus on his guest and her talents. Thank you so much to the both of you for this!

Johnny made it look easy. However, he did much show prep and did not like to appear with scripted personalities. He only appeared to be extemporaneously funny.

There's a wonderful moment when Tracy cuts the cards and you can hear in Johnny's voice how impressed he is, and Tracy hears it and knows shes talking to someone who shares her fascination and she smiles.... A lovely little moment of shared pleasure. Love it.

I found this quote in a post elsewhere: "By the time I did Cripple Creek, I had no idea whether I would "nail it" or not. This was the only song I knew how to play on the banjo. My teacher was banjo virtuoso, Doug Dillard. I only learned the song to audition for The Andy Griffith Show, (which I didn't get.) " So, probably many hours a day of practice to only do one song, and that, taught by a virtuoso. Good luck Dave! Me, I can't carry a tune in a bucket.
